Besides salary, I'm not sure if it really helped Puustinen to make the team. He seems pretty buried from getting a chance. And the guys he beat out are getting a chance to make a further impression by actually playing in the AHL.

I think the writing is on the wall for Eller to be traded by the deadline unless the Pens are miraculously sitting comfortably in a playoff spot. Acciari as well.

Dubas wants his draft picks. Glass, St.Ivany, and McG will have increased roles by January/February. I really like how Glass has been playing. Could definitely see him snagging the 3C spot when Eller is moved

It's not just Eller, there is a long list of potential rentals. Pettersson, Gryz, DOC, Beau, Eller, Pulj, Glass could all be pure rentals.

I'm not as sure Acciari will or can be easily moved. Wouldn't shock me either way, just think there is a big list before him that would go.

Bottom 6 depth guy with a 20 goal season that can kill penalties and play center or wing? He is one do those players that teams go after at the deadline.

I honestly really like Glass for the bottom 6. DOC-Glass-Pulj could make a fun bottom 6 line. But yea, it seems like anyone not named Crosby, Malkin, or Letang is fair game in the trade market.

Accari isn't a rental though, so may not be interest. They couldn't move Eller last year.

Yeah I really don’t think we’ll have a problem moving Acciari if we want. He’s the exact kind of guy GMs love

That's my thoughts too. I'm sure teams would love him as a rental. But with so many teams tight to the cap would they want the second year. Probably if we picked up half. Full amount, I'm not so sure

Eller is such a solid player. One of my favourite guys to watch on the Pens the past two seasons. I wasn't a fan of him being signed at all, let alone for more than one season, but he has really surprised me. Just really strong on the puck. He's great for the bottom 6 but honestly with his shot, still decent wheels and strength on the boards I'm wondering if he should be given a shot on Sid's LW. Seriously. Especially if you have another C back in the lineup like Lizotte.

He would be a really good addition to a true contenders bottom 6, especially 4C.

Probably a really good idea, so it’s not even on Sullivans radar.

Acciari might be the most movable guy on the team.

Who would have guessed that between Edmonton, Colorado, Nashville and Vancouver you would have 1 win in 13 games.... these teams struggling out of the gate is a best case scenario for the Pens.

Not a pure rental, but Bunting should probably be on the watch list for a trade as well. I really like him and don't want him to go, but I think someone could make Dubas an offer he cant refuse. Also good to see Rackell starting strong, maybe he turns into a trade candidate.

Dubas is going to be in asset management mode, so sadly with Eller playing so well and not being a part of the long term plan, he is probably gone in the not too distant future.

We need Jarry to get his game together. Edmonton's goalies have been terrible to start the season. Even if we just did a Jarry for Kane trade I'd be happy. They are going to be in panic mode if they dont turn it around early.

Id love to see that. Sid needs better than what he is being given at the moment. Eller has been really great, I was in the same boat as you with not liking the signing but being very impressed with his play.

I really think Laine with Sid and Rust would had been fun to see.

I was driving that bandwagon. Unfortunate injury Laine had, but I think in reality he was mostly cooked before this injury and definitely cooked after it. After seeing him a bit in Montreal, I think it would not have gone well for us.

If Detroit falls out of it, it would be interesting to see if Kane or Tarasenko would come over. Kane-Crosby-Rust could be a very potent line. I just wish there was a play we could make very early to get it sorted out.

We're only 4 games in and one of his long time tried and true wingers is just coming off injury, having only played 2 of those games. Its very early and it could get sorted without any trades. Not sure Dubas would be looking to do anything this early, anyway. Not when they're 2-2-0 and looking pretty good/better than other team more periods than they're not. To my eyes its around 8 good/great periods to 4 not good ones so far this season haha.

McGroarty to the AHL. Only sensible decision at the moment. I'd expect he'll be back before too long.

I think I was one of the few people on here to actually like the Eller signing on day one. I always liked him even when he was on the Caps.

I always liked Eller, but wanted the team to get younger. Turned out to be a nice signing. Never seen him take a shift off.
