Yeah that’s gonna be the season if we’re lucky. Better than just infuriating and boring like last year |

Wouldn't matter if he started and got a shutout.. Geno with a 4 point night and his 500th goal included was getting the 1st |

How the hell are we winning games. This team is such a cluster(frank).
Also once Alex is back they are gonna shop Jarry hard |

The one positive with the goalie position, they have Jarry’s replacement already and he’s only 22, plus the Russian kid looks legit. Hopefully they can dump Jarry without taking back an equally as bad contract. |

Yes congratulations to Geno. He's been talking about 500 for years.
There's been a lot of back and forth in if the Pens should have kept the stars. Nights like tonight is why I wanted to see them stay. I don't know if we'll be in the playoff race by the end of the season, but games like tonight make the season worth it and are ones I'll treasure forever. |

27 has been our best defenseman. - Thunderbolt
I might agree with you tonight. Defense was absolutely terrible. Pettersson is having a rough start. I don't know if the contract is weighing on him or just a slow start. Karlsson having his usual adventures and not enough offense to offset it so far. The rest not much better, but I cringe when they're on the ice right now.
DOC had a great post game quote: "I'm sure the fans enjoyed this game a lot more than our coaching staff." They know they played terribly and pulled one out. But it was sure fun to watch! |

Blomqvist wasn't even one of the three stars. Geno, Sid, Rust. I agree with you though, what a performance by him. They had no business even being in this game.
With McGroarty sent down, the Pens can actually keep three goalies for a bit once Ned is activated. I think it might be worth giving Blomqvist a run and seeing what he can do.
I wonder what sufi-judge is thinking. Disappeared after saying Blomqvist didn't deserve a chance to play in the NHL.
Jarry not even in the locker room when the media was there according to DK. |

PP and depth scoring came up big today.
2 PP goals, a third that was basically a PP just a few seconds late, and one with the goalie pulled. It's early, but that part has been encouraging.
Two more big goals from the bottom six. I don't think either is a top six wing, but right now I look at DOC, I look at Pulj, and I look at Beau and I'm not sure how Beau is the one on Sid's line.
Five GA at 5v5. A decent bit was on Jarry, but a lot was on the defensive effort too. |

It’s kind of unintuitive and I’m not defending it as a good coaching decision, but sometimes when a third line just works, a coach won’t touch it and put the spare part in the top 6 rather than promoting one of the third liners and putting the spare part in the vacated bottom six slot. Sometimes that works. That’s how HBK happened and Sheary was able to be a valid contributor on Sid’s wing, but sometimes it’s a detriment. I don’t think we’re nearly talented enough right now to justify keeping that third line together and asking Crosby to raise up a guy who’s not qualified for the first line. I think you have to look and see that Eller and JP are the common denominators of that third line success and see if they can keep it up with Beauvillier while you give DOC back to Crosby and Rust. |

That's sound. Eller-Pulj has been pretty dynamic. Honestly across the board keeping the C-RW pairs and shuffling the LWs might be the way to go. I did want to shout out Pulj may deserve the shot, but can't argue your take on balance, and it does keep him on his natural side. |

Rust isn’t all there right now but Rust is way better than JP. I don’t like playing guys on their off sides unless they’re legitimately multi positional. At some point Rust or Rak will miss time and JP will have his chance, but I wouldn’t bump him up with a healthy line up.
That said I agree with you. JP has been our third best winger this year after Rak and Bunting. He deserves a shot on merit, but in practicality he should stay on the third line. The left wing position is much more fluid right now |
