Give him 500 grams of the below daily STAT!!

Which was the best ice cream ever....stoopid PC discontinued it.

Whenever I go to Shoppers Drug Mart, I always check two items in the food aisles:

- cereal
- ice cream

They always have stoopid loss-leader sales on these items. And so I usually have one really good PC ice cream flavour in the freezer (which never lasts long enough to go bad and get thrown out).

I recall Glenn Hall talking about that - when Bobby Hull would shoot, goalies would try to save it with their pads if it was low enough or shift their bodies out of the way and try and catch it with the glove or blocker, but if it got by them, they didn't want to be behind it - unless it was the playoffs - specifically because of the risk of a broken rib or the deep bruising.

The oldest goalie equipment I ever wore was more equivalent to that which guys like Palmateer wore in the 70s. The pads were short, the upper body padding was not exactly thin, but like I could feel shots from my friends when I wore it and we were like 14 or 15 and they did sort of hurt. What all of it did though was get absurdly wet. Like if you played like Palmateer - all over the ice - you soaked up everything. The pads must've gained 5 pounds each in an hour and the chest protector even more.

I actually found that while the glove got bigger and the glove part of the hand protection on the blocker got better, there wasn't a ton of difference in those. Although I also never did own any "good" goalie equipment - like the really waterproof modern stuff.

Many moons ago, I use to play in a ball hockey league (which I really miss) and for the first several years, my goalie pads were similar to the ones below. By the end of the games I was completely soaked and burnt out.

It wasnt until I upgraded to newer pads similar to below did I realize how much easier the games could have been for me. LOL They were so light. Luckily I had lightning fast reflexes so I still did pretty well with the heavier ones. But damn the newer pads were a world of difference.

That '250' on the top ones is what I think they weighed when they were wet!

Those old pads look like a bunch of french bread loaves lashed together. Buttery.

It's like they either sell a box of cereal for 9 bucks or 4. I could eat the ass out of a box of Shreddies right meow.

My hockey OCD gets triggered when I see pictures like this.

They've got the pads on the wrong sides.

In 2020, we went for dinner at a sports bar in the Byward Market, because they ran a shuttle to the Leafs-Sens game. They had pads like these on the wall, and of course they had them on the wrong sides.

I was so unsettled that my wife actually got mad at me - "Jesus, can you just let it go?"

Sadly, I couldn't.

Forgive my pessimism, but is this really the best way for the Jays to spend a boatload of money?

From what I saw this year, they are a little further than "one guy away."
