I can take a redraft 6 or more years later because by 24 you're generally getting a good read on the drafted players - even then it fails to have a real look at the career arc. There are still late bloomers that would fall outside of that but the percentage is smaller. 10 years is still a better look. These 3 year redraft articles are basically clickbait.

Like if you did the 2020 draft now - you have what . . . Stutzle, Jarvis, Faber, Sanderson, Raymond, Lafreniere, Lundell, Mercer, Schneider and maybe Byfield?

I think if you look at the class of 2020 by 2026 or 2027 Lafreniere moves up to the top-2, Askarov shows up in the top-5, Guhle and Perfetti move in to the top-10 and Schneider and Byfield probably fall out of the top-10.

Detroit looks not so great, can’t see them making the jump for a while…years away unless Boston finally craps out bad.

Buffalo just has a horrible team culture, they can’t develop players fully and they just don’t have it. Years away as well.

Ottawa is the one team I can see finally doing it.

It's always a "what have you done for me now." I mean, Kaprizov is probably the 4th best pick in his draft based on just circumstance, but has only 5 seasons in the NHL. And that draft is looking really good.

The ultimate has to be Kucherov from that middling 2011 draft. Can't believe he fell to the 2nd round after setting the record for U18 tournament scoring.

Signing holl to that deal was crazy. Same with Ceci in Edmonton. Watching a player suck for years in Toronto and then getting these contracts is always nuts.

Two of those team IMO need a starting goalie. Ottawa went out and got one. Buffalo and Detroit is again IMO and the Habs are so so unless they play the Leafs then it's Vesna quality

Ceci like Jack Johnson is a great athlete who happens to be a hockey player. They'll play until they're dead...JJ because of being robbed by his parents, but also because they are physically great even if not very smurt on the ice.

Great physical player but he won’t cost too much unless he ups his production notably… I think it will step up once Matthews and Marner truly get going but as of right now Knies is only on a 20P pace, without a notably better production he won’t cost as much as you think.
