Does anyone see the possibility of the Hawks signing, drafting or trading for a big number one center and letting Bedard dominate a line from the wing like Patrick Kane did (does). I know this is heresy. But a top line with Bedard on one wing and TT on the other is pretty good.
Maybe Boisvert and Greene develop into NHL centers too. Personally I think Kurashev, Nazar, Moore, Lardis, Hayes, Reichel end up as wings. - Ztra
I can see it, but I think they'll wait until they see how effective Bedard and (at least) Nazar perform on the big stage. If either or both can hold their own at the dot and defensively, I think they stay as is.
I think Boisvert has the best chance to become that big 200'center that can also produce. He counts Kopitar as an influence, but I'd be ecstatic if he gets to O'Reilly level.
They just have so many kids in the system that "could" be that guy I think they'll let it play out a bit before trading/signing one. |

How are those rebuilds in DET (1-3-0) &
BUF (1-4-1) going?
And NSH & COL both 0-4-0? - scottak
Quite poorly, obviously. |
|
|

Brunette - Angotti
Stamkos 0 points and Saros hasn't been great.
Skjei looks like he's been dreadful.
Probably going to have a bad time if those guys are playing poorly.

So McDavud finally lit the lamp
An old Yes older Blackhawk favorite hasn’t been getting barely any points although he had the TOI……..yes Patrick Kane.
Steve from Glencoe: you cannot say the head coach isn’t putting players where they should be. No for the most part he is right to use Murphy on a third pair. And he had to get through to Reichel how he had to play and sitting him out gets his attention
There is always going to be tinkering with the line combination(s) at least with this roster composition
If Reichel doesn’t provide some solid play and garner a few points, then later Nazar will late(r) this season
Ah a cold large frosted glass of Blue Moon at Portilos finished my day. And IMG saw that those big oil can size Foster’s is still around. If I am not enjoying a Blue Moon beer, I will settle for an Amstel Light - jhawk59
The beer drinkers light beer.
The piggies have another two games this weekend. I would imagine if Nazar continues to show well you'll see him sooner rather than later.
Kurashev is not producing points or driving play so there's another player who should start to get on the hot seat soon. The guy can skate around fast and 'look productive' but I still think his hockey sense isn't much better than Jones and away from Bedard he won't produce.
Drives me nuts listen to Zawaski and his fellers talk about how he plays both sides of the puck and is so defensively reliable when he is anything but that. Hall and Bertuzzi got their points away from him.
Also, Donato doesn't play because he's not very good. He tries super hard, which Chicago fans get off on, but that doesn't make him good. He's not a smart player that does stupid poop like Andrew Shaw, he's a not smart player who is faster and more skilled than most 4th liners. Solid bum slayer on a bad team but probably doesn't have a place on a good one. |

Colorado has some injury issues and player assistance program issues.
Nashville Skjei and Soros have dreadful and Stamkos has 0 points. |

Edmonton got off to a terrible start last year and got to the Cup finals, so team's like COL and NSH have time to turn things around. Personally it's too early for me to look at the standings. I go by the American Thanksgiving rule. If you're in a playoff position by late November, there's like an 80% chance you'll be in the playoffs when the time comes.

I missed the 3rd period. Did Maroon return to finish the game after blocking the shot at the end of the 2nd? |

COL's biggest issue is that their team health is so poor, and their goaltending is atrocious. |

Here's a summary from Eltie Prospects of Hawks prospects stats. Note if you click on "League" at the top of that column the players will be rearranged.
Small sample size but the 5 OHL players are off to good starts scoring wise. I really want to see Lardis develop and be a scoring contributor on the big club in a couple of years.

You think the Hawks own web site would have this info. Their prospect page still has stats from the end of last season. |

Thanks for the link. My hope is that Lardis can become similar to Jarvis. |

Looking at that, I realized i forgot about Kayumov who was a high pick (2nd rd), has anything ever been said about him, assuming he doesn't want to come over?
Has Scott Powers adopted him yet? I see he's 26 so not too old |

I think he skipped right over him and latched onto Kantserov. |

Noticed Kantserov hasn't played a game yet. I know he had shoulder surgery in the off season, so obviously he's still recuperating from that. Hope he heals up soon and stays healthy. He could be another guy that could put the puck in the net for future Hawk teams. |

Those veterans will be better. Early season doldrums snd new team You notice other veterans around league each season start off slow/ the dynamic duo in Edm a prime example
Nashville has some good prospects knocking at AHL btw
I think that Tampa will not slip farther unless they have injuries. The top players remaining will produce very well and the new cheap help will fit in and work hard
As has been disclosed previously KD will allow at least some of the kids to filter up and contribute. When the team is able to play closer to ,500 record then is the first opportunity for KD to think about adding expensive free agent or a trade. I would postulate significantly adding a proven veteran scorer or steady dman the 2026-‘27 season the earliest (the season after next). Next two seasons incremental careful slow steps will see some veterans moved |

Not paying as close attention to the game as I used to, but how do you think that the young D-men are doing so far? Namely Allan and Kaiser and if you think Vlasic is still on the same trajectory as last season?
From a distance it appears that the defense seems to be locking down a lot better than they did last year and I don’t see as many fire drills.
Thoughts? - busmaster
Kaiser is playing really well, seems to always be between the puck and his goalie, he's a dman who has a clue where his outlet passes are in his own end and he's passing it with no hesitation. He's a bit weak on getting the puck out along the boards but I'm sure that will come over time.
Allan really hasn't had a lot of ice time but he's been quiet in a good way. He's another who seems to be between the puck and his goalie, willing to be physical but not out of position physical, he's learning like last night these forwards can be physical, after Hall and someone else were in a big hurry to leave the zone but forgot the puck, he turned to cover the guy in front of the net, the forward actually hit him out of the way, at least it's what it looked like so he could get a clean shot to score the 2nd goal of the game.
These 3 kids coming up through our system look really good, it's crazy to think Bowman couldn't draft a defenseman for years, must of figured something out or trusted a certain scout on his staff because I'm sure they keep records of who these scouts like and why, and have hit on I'd say 2 dmen possibly 3 already.

I know LA was saying we are playing a really conservative style of hockey through the neutral zone. After watching the Sabres game vs Pens I'm glad we are, Sabres are trying to allow the most odd man breaks in the league, woof woof |

Hawks play Buffalo Saturday night. I predict a 7-5 Hawks win. Bedard with a hat trick.

Aren’t Vlasic, Kaiser, Allen, del Mastro all Bowman area picks?
Now if you want to talk about developing those picks, yeah the Boemsn era significantly lacked in that area. Of course development was not high on their radar at that time. |

I don't think the Blackhawks can score 7 goals in a game even if the opponents goalie has been pulled for 60 minutes |
