That pinch with his d-partner down in the circles was a masterpiece - Tomahawk
That pinch was horrible. Looked like he was playing bantam hockey out there. I love the kids skating and hope he gets better but he looks like dogsh*t on the defensive side of the puck.

I don't think anyone disagrees that he should be sent back to allow him to work on his offensive game, except Torts. The kid just has to many of the traits Torts covets for him to see the big picture. We have seen Torts repeatedly fall in love with players.
That's always been the Flyers problem but even more so with Torts, not seeing the forest for the trees. - Flyers_01
Not sure it's only Torts tho. Like I'm sure he's the strongest voice in the room (when is he not?) but the front office seems just as enthusiastic about keeping the kid around. It's almost like they are trying validate the decision to draft him that high.
If they keep this up the kid is gonna start losing confidence, no matter how mature his demeanor is. |

Yeah, he's pretty awful all around. He doesn't look anything like the kid that the Ducks drafted. Guessing his mobility disguised some real deficiencies. You can't really skate your way out of problems at the NHL-level. |

it really does... there is no way they can keep this kid up after his 9 games. He can keep pace but he really has no offensive game in the NHL at this time. Send him back to play a ton of minutes and work on his offensive game.

The Flyers are too enamored with "200 foot player" and "two way player". Think more play driver and offensive catalyst. That's what they need to grow in Luchanko's game. He will be better able to develop that in juniors.

They took lots of crap for not taking Buium and this is their way of saying looky at what we have. Our 18 year old draft pick is in the NHL. He needs to go back to junior after his 9 game stint. He can keep up with the speed of the NHL game, but he isn't NHL ready yet. |

When do we see kolosov
Maybe Wednesday in Washington. Ersson should start Saturday and Tuesday, and the Phantoms play Friday & Saturday that's two more chances for Kolosov to play AHL games. |

The kid was a controversial pick and there's been a ton of ink wasted in the media (and on these boards) defending it. No doubt the optics of him "exceeding expectations" early takes some pressure off of them. Justified or not, he's going to be a lightning rod for the next few years.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked by how biased he was last night... so used to him giving calm, impartial analysis on national telecasts... JJ must be rubbing off on him. - Tomahawk
Boucher is really good on the national games, but last night he sounded stoned. Him and JJ were yakking about the stupidest things in between all the homer stuff. |

My criticism of the pick is not that I don't think Luchanko is going to be a good player. He is and he has plenty of potential. I just think Buium was the higher rated player and the correct choice. I don't want to see Luchanko become another Laughton. I want more out of the pick. Keeping him in the NHL now is a mistake.

Skating wise yes. But the rest, his decision making, his physical strength, etc is not keeping up. Sure they say he is strong, for an 18 year old, but 18 year old strong is not even in the same ballpark as 26 year old or 30 year old strong, it just isn't.
He needs to go back to juniors to get the rest of his game on par with his skating speed. I think they got a good prospect there. But rushing him to the NHL is going to hurt him in the short term. Lets get him back to juniors before it becomes a long term issue.

I think the kid has played good. He has not shown any finishing ability…but at 18 and considering his production last year that expectation might be a a tad high. I agree I think he is better served being sent back with a chance to have a monster year and develop further. They can’t get this wrong. They don’t have enough guys with that potential and skill set to (frank) this up. It says a lot about the Flyers current construction that a recently turned 18 year old is playing ahead of the vet’s and deservedly so. |

I agree. To many people equate preferring Buium to saying that Luchanko was a bad pick and will fail. He just wasn't the BPA, imo. Now that he's a Flyer, the focus should be on him reaching his ceiling, not his floor.

I am not sure he has played "good". To me he is just their kind of blending in with zero impact. They will keep him beyond the 9 games was prediction and still think that as of now. With the last change at home will the coach try to get him into better situations.
Letting the Coach/Co-GM make these decisions is just not good to me. The other CO-GM really doesn't seem to have any real plan here.

He’s been on the wrong side of a few goals now for a guy that was supposedly far along defensively. Hilarious this organization has him here. What else should we expect though |

It's just terribly short sighted. I guarantee you the other NHL teams who thought about drafting Luch are scratching their heads right now wondering wtf the Flyers are doing to him. |

This is exactly why Torts shouldn’t be anywhere near a “rebuild” , his fawning over hard work and stamina in luchankos case trump all else |

I’m not going to give you any fancy stats, but I think he has played well. As well as a lot of guys a lot older and more experienced than him. I still don’t think it matters though. His situation is obviously different. DB needs to be the one to make the decision. Torts should know better….he’s seen enough young guys get thrown in to quickly, guys been coaching for 3 decades….hell, we have one in Drysdale that’s on display each night. I hope you’re wrong…I hope they do have a plan. |

Completely agree. I want what is best for Jett and not what is best for the Flyers right now. Although, the Flyers are gonna Flyer so who knows what the plan is for Jett.
The right thing to do is send him back and work on his game

For a player who is a young 18 year old, relatively speaking he has played well.

Just waiting for the "big" move to start restructuring the roster. Trading Provy and Hayes was a good start. Sanheim trade got scuttled. How many "culture guys" are needed in the dressing room when the talent is obviously lacking? Right now, they have 1 NHL level goalie available. The argument that Andrae could not play is because the blueline would be too small. So they want to create transition offense, but prioritize size and only able to chip off the boards instead. Hope Jett gets sent down before Halloween. Jett desrves a lot of credit for his progress, but send him down. |
