Watch the games. Luchanko is making a lot of good plays out there, winning puck battles, driving to the hard areas of the ice. For example against Edmonton, Brink does not get that lucky deflection off of Ekholm's stick if it were not for Luchanko drving the net and taking Ekholm with him.

I’ve liked his game…but this is supposed to be about him developing more….I hope he goes back and has the chance to work on his shot…work on his offensive side. Have those successes that are important for any 18 year old. I’ve been very impressed when factoring in his age…that’s insane actually how he hasn’t looked out of place. It’s rare.

This game came down to three bad plays IMO, 1. three bad goals given up by Fedotov, two through him, one off a bad rebound that he should have controlled, 2. Bad turnover by Zamula off the center ice faceoff down 4-2 already, and 3. Bad pinch by Drysdale when the Flyers had all the momentum down 5-4 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. The game as a whole was not bad for the Flyers, but these three plays were too much to overcome.

Yes, I think I agree, but Bundy brought up a good point, that is its tough for a player to go from playing a game against McDavid to playing a game against Denver Barkey, no disrespect to Barkey. I am sure Luchanko would adjust, but it will take a little bit.

Michkov is clearly NHL ready and wouldn't have signed without a guaranteed roster spot.

And what's better for the rebuild... 2-goals from a 32-yo or a top-60 pick + Noah Cates playing?

Andrae should be in the lineup, you will get no argument from me there. And I would have liked to see Cates in the lineup also, but neither of these players have anything to do with Laughton, Michkov or Luchanko, who IMO all deserve to be in the lineup also. It comes down to replacing Zamula and Poehling.

I agree with +/- being too arbitrary for a game to game summation.
However, when arrayed against the stats of teammates, and others in the same roles, a comparison can be made more reliably over time.
Being a plus on a bad team is an indicator of worth.

Andrae should be in the lineup, you will get no argument from me there. Abols is not that guy. Every game I have watched in person w Abols and he looks overmatched - and that was preseason playing against a mixed bag of players.

This analysis couldn't be further off. Frost lost positioning on a transition play leading to a goal. Foerster took himself out of position by going for a hit instead of peeling off and covering his point, leaving Couturier to have to rotate over, leaving Montour wide open. Drysdale was in no mans land in D zone coverage on a goal against. Leaving Sanheim down low against two defenders. The Flyers as a team, got completely outplayed in the 2nd period. At 5 on 5 in that period, scoring chances were 12-3 Seattle with high danger chances 6 to 1 in favor of Seattle. Outscoring the Flyers 4-0 in that period. The Flyers top lines and top defense pairings got shellacked for most of the game.
It was overall a poorly played game for the Flyers with the 4th line basically carrying the team in the game.

This goalie has cost them at least 2 points already. He needs to hit the buses at the AHL level. He is absolutely NOT an NHL goalie at this time. Not only did he give up that bad rebound, but he was slllllloooooooooooowwwwwwww to get over and recover from his blunder.

Here is the sad and unfortunate part that a lot of fans, including yourself don't seem to understand. Any minor success that this team would have, would only hurt them in the long run. We have to hope for unintended failure and just plain blind luck to have any hope in the future of this team.

On a side note, that Colorado 1st rounder we got for Walker is looking nice right now

That's fine too. I do think Briere sends Jett back to Guelph. I know, I could be proven wrong. Roster is still way off from being a contender, 18 yr old Jett is not changing that circumstance. Jett deserves a lot of credit for making it this far, full credit to him.
