I'm not sure how much is legit, but was reading today the Chicago Sports Network wants to make a deal with Comcast but Comcast has shot their offers down and hasn't been willing to make a counter offer. |

Comcast wants to include CHSN in the elite tier. Hawks want Comcast to carry them on the same tier as NBCSN was in. |

I have asked wiz for his analysis on Nazar ceiling - jhawk59
Stop rushing these kids...look at the difference in strength and game speed that Bedard has shown in season two?
It is not realistic that any of the other Kid-hawk forwards are gonna grow much quicker than he has.
Naxar has too many tools and smarts to think he isn't a NHLer.extra
Kyle goes to his first draft by loading up with two extra draft picks by way of trading NHL player assets.
You have to think Kyle came in with the idea he was going to get a defender first to develop and a forward who plays in the league no matter if there are unmet expectations in his career.
So he goes in looking for a forward and isn't frightened that the guy he is taking is 5' 9" and under 180. (He presently is carrying 175 lbs.).
He better be hockey smart and able to understand and play a strong two way game.
You won't expect him to be Brad Marchand.
You will expect strong stick work, and great feet that will put him on equal footing with the established skater in the bigs.
Personally was impressed with his final two years in the US program becasue he continually used his speed on the forecheck to the point that it was a problem to the opposition at how quick he was on them, disrupting their space and time to move cause breakouts to fail.
(And I KNOW that USA team was full of terrific kids with offensive prowess...)
So this kid whose not small but not big either simply kept attacking the middle in the attack zone, barging into the smaller spaces between defenders, unafraid he would lose possession, and always thinking set up or if lucky, a shot.
All these skills while playing "developmental" hockey doesn't make a kid ready to do the same things as a pro.
Those advancements need to be nurtured through more strength, skill and pratcice against better competitors.
You see what strts to work, and you keep building a pro game.
JHawk59, you asked "ceiling."
You could ask this about a guy already in the bigs, like Matthew Knies, and I am not sure if I can give you an answer if he is a top six guy just yet and there are great things you see as he improves.
So trying to "ceiling" Nazar now to me can only be answered with will play pro for while if he doesn't have a huge backslide that curtails his trajectory.
(Remember when the Hawks errored so badly by not taking future #1 defenseman Bowen Byram?)
His floor is he plays, but with time he fits as a strong two way player and can crack top 6 minutes, especially if he continues to show his 2 way prowess defensively.
He is goiing to distribute the puck well and hopefully, he finds success with other offensive minded scorers.
Late add: If you are watching the hawks tonight, you see the difference in this current veteran team to handing the keys too quickly to all thiose draft picks.
Nazar and the rest will have their chances to meet this kind of compete and heart at some point, but it will be when they are actually able to meet those expectations...

What's Taylor Hall doing there, watching these 2 games between Reichel and Hall, Reichel should be getting more playing time. Maybe KD prefers the guy who's the worse passer and won't hustle back on defense.
Even the give aways support what i see in Taylor Hall. |

Our passing is about as poor as our face offs. With an empty neg i dont understand why bedard is net being set up for shots rather than him be the passer. Whatever. Disappointing loss. |

That's sweet the game winning goal was set up by a Sabres pick. To bad |

I thought it was the lack of talent last year with the passing, but it's pretty apparent that the coaching staff doesn't value it because it's obvious they don't work on it

2nd!
Interesting to note that the hawks are drafting speed at forward, and right now, the Washington Capitals have in my opinion one of the slower first lines in hockey with Ovi- D Strome - and the lumbering giant, Aliaksei Protas on the other wing.
It is nice to see the the Blackhawks use their older prospects as the emergency recalls.
I have no problem with Isaak Phillips coming up and getting more opportunites against pro attackers.
Same with Nolan Allen showing he has strong defensive leanings and edge.
On the 2025 Draftt front:
I have not adjusted my Lines.com draft board yet, but there is a top 12 echelon of players and furure #1 goalie Prince George's Joshua Ravensbergen or big RD Blake Fiddler sitting there for the Toronto pick.
Post note: i redid my top two rounds of 2025 if you want an early update. - wiz1901
Didn't know much of anything about Malcolm Spence but he looks like a good power forward prospect from a few highlights. Did not see that type of aggressiveness (yet) in Roger McQueen at Brandon. Another good reason to tune in to Erie games - Misiak is over a point a game and Ty Henry has 5 assists already.
Hoping Ravensbergen will fall to the Toronto pick. Someone had him at #10 this week but I wouldn't go there yet. He is talented but is still susceptible to giving rebounds on the low shots.
Goalie Štěbeták I see is with Portland, will have to watch how he does. He looks like he is off to a slow start right now, 4.10 GAA.

You really think Bertuzzi played well enough? Hall probably has the lowest hockey I.Q. of anyone on the club. Kurashev being a wussy as the second man in after a clean hit that could have been a lot worse. |

Muchos gracias wiz for the explanation and observations. My faith in the Nazar selection is verified. I am sure that if I point out how Buffalo amassed a great amount of young talent but the team has yet to flourish, you would say it is a process thus development for young players. Most prospects do not start out first year as star players. You see it with your own eyes tonight players on both teams - and those in Rockford too |

Dots, i saw at least four times when they missed a pass 10ft away from each other. It happens a lot and as you say the coaches dont seem bothered by it. |

Yeh 30 year old AHL legend --- I know of a few from the 90's as well ... but AHL (technically IHL then) legend is what they remained as. - SC116
Former Blackhawk Gaudette might be another career tweener. Gets a few games here and there but cannot stick in NHL. Had 40 goals in AHL last season |

iirc - Bruce scored 60 one season when he was at Peoria.
Ok had to check ... 90-91 - and ok - better than I thought --- 64 goals in 60 games --- but only managed 234 games in the NHL. Don't know if I ever met him when he was in KC (I did a few others to be fair).

He was just a bit past my time, but went to school down there and used to go to Rivermen games. Friday's they would have quarter beer night which was fun.
Pretty sure they won an IHL Championship (Turner Cup I think) when I was there and I think at least one of the years I was there, they were known as the Prancers and then renamed the Rivermen. Alliteration's great but horrible name for a hockey team, IMHO.
Not sure who Bruce is but Steve Maltais comes to mind as an I/AHL star who played NHL games.
In other news, looks like Reichel has earned another game...Smith too for that matter. |

Maybe they should throw Reichel up on the top line for a game or two with Teravainen and Bedard. I think he could keep up with them two. He could probably help Bedard net a few more goals. I was hoping for 98 to net between 40-50 this year. At this rate he looks like he is going to score maybe 25,unless he goes on wicked tear in the next 4-5 games. |

Would love to see them put him with 98 and 86 or 23 and 59. Either move Hall up but either way move Foligno back down to the 3rd line.
He’s been ok with Bedard and Teravainen but obvs isn’t a long term top 6 answer. |

And Phillips (or Martinez if he is healthy) should replace Brodie, if you are talking about earning ice time. |
