Honestly, Coots looks like poop. Catering to him right now because what he has done and currently the captain shouldn’t mean anything. He’s literally our worst forward on a terrible team. - roenick97
Totally agree with you, but isn't that what his contract extension was? So you might as well live with him playing 20 mins a game at 1C. Flyers have always paid for past performance going all the way back to LeClair's extension. |

One pick is only protected if they have the 2026 pick. Cant remember which one. Could end up with a low pick if that team gets desperate and tries to improve and fails.
Both teams likely improve though. Edmonton will jest do the dame thing as last year and go on a ridiculous tear
Colorado is very depleted. Drouin, Lehkonrn, Nichuskin and Toews all hurt. Landeskog is supposed to also come back at some point. I coukd see Colorado missing as a bubble yeam if the cant get the goaltending - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I believe it's Colorado's pick that if they trade their 2026 1st that 2025 1st becomes unprotected. I remember thinking that most likely they would trade it for a run when they traded for Walker, but if they are trading it they are in a playoff spot anyway.
Edmonton is top 12 protected.
I'm ok with the Flyers getting a top 5 pick, hopefully a lottery ball, and getting one 1st in the mid to late teens and the last 1st in the 20's.
PHI 1st - Top C (Knowing the Flyers they end up getting Martone, who is a hell of a player, but is a winger)
COL 1st - Potential top 4 D
EDM 1st - Maybe they snag Ravensbergen for future goal or get some Love in net
Then 2nd rounders they load up their defensive prospect pool with maybe another C
That's how I want it, so that means it won't.

Even the staunchest JORTS supporters are starting to turn on their Demi-god
welcome to the party - THE BLACK HAND
I have never been an outright supporter, but I still believe Tort's toughness on work ethics, conditioning and skating was needed for the Flyers team....
The problem is once you get past that everything else is downhill.
The Flyers need to tank more than any year in the history of their franchise right now and replace every damn coach for next year.

They are paid by comcast. They do have to be biased. Most broadcasts are. If anyones boss heard them talking about how badly things were at their job, they wouldn't be happy. A team that is privately owned property has a lot more freedom to just call the game as is - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Bullpoop....all of the local broadcasters are paid by the teams they cover and each set, other than the Flyer's guys have a decent level of objectivity and criticize the teams.
The Flyers guys work under the auspiciousies of Jonesy, THE GREAT GASLIGHTER |

I’m on record as saying on this site that I think Tippett had the potential to be a 40 goal scorer. I need to add a caveat to that:
Tippett could be a 40 goal scorer if…
He could actually bury his chances by putting the puck in the net and not off the post, off the boards and glass behind the net, or hitting the goalie in the logo. Needless to say, I’m coming around to the realization that he just isn’t a goal scorer like that. Volume got him near 30 and perhaps 30 is the absolute max we can hope for if all the stars align perfectly.
Flyers are desperate for a center and a finisher or two, oh and a legit top pairing D, and some size. Hopefully MM39 has a good rookie year and develops well. This year will be positive if Foereater, Frost, York and Drysdale take that “next step”. |

Why wasn't Hathaway benched last night? Could you imagine if Frost had taken all those penalties? And tell me how Andrae can be any worse than Johnson?

For gambling purposes I once studied the results of the home game after a long road trip. I did every team for one season. I set certain criteria like it must be a 3 or 4 game trip across a time zone. I forget the exact criteria but I know the result was that there was no evidence that the home game off a long trip was more likely to end up as an L - Just5
It is just another excuse in a long line of excuses -- they are too rested, they are too tired, people are injured. The list goes on and on.... |

Like Jerry Jones threatening the jobs of the sports radio talk hosts for questioning his ineptitude when he called in? Unfortunately for Jerry he doesn't own the radio station. |

67 shots put up by the phantoms and flyers last night 0 goals. How unlucky
2 wins for the phantoms and flyers in 8 tries. Again how unlucky |

You just can't win in this league today without being deep at center ice, an elite'ish center, and without a puck moving defenseman, the team has neither. I hope they continue to utilize the draft and build a team that way. |

Nothing ever changes with this team.
Torts still plays head games with players, cooked vets are preferred over youth, pr and optics are valued over development. They still give out questionable to bad contracts.
The coach is a dinosaur, the PoHO a bs spewing cheerleader and the GM is either incompetent or not really in charge. Please, give me a reason why I should have any faith in this organization?
As a fan who goes back to the early 70s, this is, by far, the worst era of Flyers hockey and there is no end in sight. - BiggE
Coots is a cooked vet and Torts hates him.
You think the Giroux/Voracek era was bad? Settle in for the Couturier/Konecny era. |

He needs to be bought out!!! Or pay 50%, which is a way better savings, and get rid of him via trade. |

The long term savings really aren't there because the majority of his contract is structured as a series of signing bonuses. Coots agent was smart, Fletcher/Flahr were not. Every contractual device that could be weaponized against the Flyers was offered and accepted. Coots has 100% control over any potential trade.
There is nothing the Flyers can really do to him except sit him at the end of the bench. |

Ironically, Torts ego is creating the best path to.a top 5 pick. The 5 on 5 play is just a continuation of the last 15 games last season. There are no signs, it is going to change anytime soon. - Trox88
but they are hard to play against. setting the culture and tone. great locker-room.
how long before the best flyers room ever starts to crack with a lot of losing? |

I really don’t like the excuse tbh but I will tell you it’s a common occurrence for the flyers over the years I’ve watched them. Just fail to start on time. They basically sleep walked through the first.
Side note, jd is now -7 so far on the year. Holy god. He’s on pace to be -114 on the season ffs. - Hextall271
That’s an improvement. He was on pace for -123 |

"If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table."
The Flyers have been pounding the table ever since Torts got here, facts and long term plan be damned and people have been buying it. |

Yes, that's why it's more cost effective to pay 50% of his salary and send him packing, thus the second part of my post. A buyout saves you less than a million a year after the first year, if I remember correctly. It's just painful to watch him play now, he's a shadow of his former self. Maybe get him to go on LTIR for the rest of his career is the best option? |
