Yes, that's why it's more cost effective to pay 50% of his salary and send him packing, thus the second part of my post. A buyout saves you less than a million a year after the first year, if I remember correctly. It's just painful to watch him play now, he's a shadow of his former self. Maybe get him to go on LTIR for the rest of his career is the best option? - Dave21Brown
I understand what you are saying about the 50% trade but the Flyers can't do that as Coot's contract gives him control of whether and where he's traded. Flyers have no control other than his ice time.
They also can't just arbitrarily LTIR him. |

Laughton being moved at the deadline is looking good - ClaudeFather
nah. looking better for an ext. he bleeds orange and black. Danny will need to get permission from the "room" to move him. he is the poster boy for the new era of orange.
Has danny given out any contracts that actually benefit the flyers?
Tippet didn't like then or now. What was the rush to get him signed when he still was unproven? Don't see much upside as he is what is at this point. just not a smart hockey player to boot. |

I'm pretty aware of how it all works, I'm just wishful thinking out loud. |

The long term savings really aren't there because the majority of his contract is structured as a series of signing bonuses. Coots agent was smart, Fletcher/Flahr were not. Every contractual device that could be weaponized against the Flyers was offered and accepted. Coots has 100% control over any potential trade.
There is nothing the Flyers can really do to him except sit him at the end of the bench. - Flyers_01
He has no trade value even at 50% IMO. Way to long a term. He would need to completely turn it around.
Hopefully him and torts have it out. would love to see what direction "hilf" takes.
If the flyers even thought about firing torts, wonder who would be the one to bring it up.
What they need is a Clarke and holmgren coup to have him removed!!!!! |

Upcoming week, excellent chance to see Fedotov twice. Those +/- ratings about to take a beating.
I don't mind watching Michkov, Drysdale, Tippett, Foerster, Ersson, Luchanko (who needs to be sent down), and York play and make mistakes. They've been brought into this mess and somehow are expected to improve. Since 20--21 season following players still on the roster-Couts, Farabee, TK, Laughton Frost, and Sanheim. It seems odd none of these players have been traded since all they have done is experienced losing. Granted, Couts is untradeable. Fletcher at least tried to make changes. His decisions were horrible- Risto, Hayes, Tony D. New Era of Orange seems intent on marketing "culture" and are prospects are really, really good to an existing roster that somehow is better then the results of the last 3 years. This thinking may actually scuttle the team into a top 5 pick by their own decisions -did not think would be possible. |

+/- is a useless stat. Maker is a -5, is he only slightly better than Drysdale? - WhiskeyMan
No. However it’s indicative of the struggles he and his team have had. |

Just man up and admit that you are a fraud and HATE the Flyers from top to bottom. At least you would garner a little respect on here. No wonder you worship turnip head! Go Sabres and Sharks!

You're actually taking Cliff's side over me! That's a hoot since the guy totally ignores you on here. And no, he just offers ridiculous rhetoric and worthless stats on here day after day, so there is no such thing as him schooling me. Oh, went to first Flyers game in 1976. It was a quarterfinals game against the Laffs. Went to my second game later that spring. It was game 3 of the Finals against the Habs. Season ticket holder from 1985-2005. What else ya got?

To be fair i rather him ignore all of us, 1 stops the fighting
2 his lack of hockey sense and awareness of what he is actually watching is laughable, and uses ridiculous stats that don't tell the whole story as facts.
3 less is better lol

Not that Torts cares about analytics and the story they tell but ..
https://sports.yahoo.com/...-5-canucks-135803304.html
" Vancouver did a good job protecting Kevin Lankinen's crease. Of the 26 shots he faced, only two were classified as high-danger, with the average shot distance coming from beyond the faceoff circle. Ultimately, it was a strong defensive effort, "
Which is why shot quantity alone is not a good stat. The Flyers never got a SOG for some of their best scoring chances.

I cannot see a player that would be possibly available for the Flyers to include their own 1st rd pick in a trade. So the question is how much value does the EDM and COL 1sts have, which will most likely be in the 20s. Does that type of package get a true difference maker or a player you hope is undervalued and develops- ie Tippett.

It could. no idea who that player is off the top of my head. Or a guy who a team needs to shed his cap (not an over the hill vet).
Flyers have some trade chips to add such as joel frost brink. I only mention those 3 as they are the only ones they would consider moving imo.
Just such a mistake to lock up TK. all one can do is laugh. |

I'm certainly not against using COL or EDM 1st in a trade because picks in the '20s are lottery tickets. I believe once TK was re signed it sealed the fates of Farabee and Frost. How many top 6 forwards are needed from a group that has not done squat as far as winning in years? They certainly had no issue re signing the bottom 6 "culture" guys to extensions and refuse to trade the ones under contract.

" It’s almost shocking how often Tippett misses the net. Hes got good speed and a decent shot but man. He can’t hit the broad side of a barn."
Tippet has a great shot, but keeps missing the net. Does he need glasses?? Carter did the same thing years ago, lots of shots, but kept missing the net. Then Carter got into a hot streak and scored plenty of goals. Hopefully Tippet finds his scoring touch soon? |
