Would you consider
- Cozens+ for a true Top 4 RhD
- Byram+ for a 2C

I would include Quinn in that decision, but he has zero worth.

- IonSabres

Absolutely a scenario where the next GM feels compelled to make changes to the core.

Is there a scenario where Kev keeps his job and gets to rebuild the core? I don't think so.

Still a bit premature to rule out the current core.

These guys are really young still

I don't rule it out, They are good enough to compete for a playoff spot and Kev should be expected to make it.

I think you're overplaying the young card a bit. 23 in your 3rd/4th season isn't that young and improvement not a given.

Yes, the Sabres would be in better shape with each position upgrade.

Well sure, only way you make the trade. Unfortunately looking like they traded the wrong C for Byram

I think it's way too soon to think about him. Likely going to need 2 years in Roch.

The answers are supposed to be Kulich or Rosen this year. Hoping anyone has jumped over them 1 month in is desperate.

- Lunaion

Still holding out hope on Rosen, eh?

Defenseman take longer to hit their stride, (2) #1 OA’s in particular.

I’m liking power’s progress

Not really, but you can't just keep him in the AHL forever, can you?

D peak a little later, I was talking F's.

You know I'm a big Power fan, so it's not about him. Samuelsson is 24, his development stalled. Joker is 25, his development stalled 4 years ago. Byram is 23. He hasn't progressed a lot, after a promising start. Dahlin is 24. Doesn't feel like much growth in his game the last 2 years.

Think it's more pronounced with the F's, but is this D group heading in the right direction overall? It's young, but with a lot of experience. Does the composition make sense?

Yup, the suggestion is really opposite day. Cozens for an RD instead of Mitts for an LD.

Stalled bc of terrible coaching and inept management.

Why do other teams’ picks develop into stars and superstars and we always get stuck with “maybe one day” or “on paper…”

We have coaches (not currently) who treat the kids like sensitive babies and coddle them and let them develop lazy habits.

We get Byram (who I like, at least when he first got here and hasn’t been corrupted by Hockey Heaving yet) but he’s a puck moving LD.

A few years ago we had a plethora of RD.

We keep drafting small skill guys when larger and tougher to pay against guys are still available.

We let Casey (not a big fan but still) go and even that guy who went to Tampa and became a star go. We hang on the Girgensons and other lovable losers because no one wants to hurt their feelings and send them packing. Maybe Terry loves them for some unknown reason?

Seeing how good other teams are and how they fire coaches even when they go to cup finals or deep in playoffs and we keep meatballs and garden gloves and Krueger around like a f king joke???

This team will not make the playoffs again this year (miss by 2 pts and everyone says too and if they had only breath —- in November they would average it) and we are supposed to like it?

With you on a lot of that, but they have enough talent to make the playoffs and Lindy isn't much a coddler. Now or never for this group.

That defense is young and offensively talented not particularly defensive minded.

It’s kinda freighting considering the amount of money invested in the d core.

It’s hard to have the patience , but it’s necessary imo

Never sensed much patience from you for guys like Joker and Samuelsson (top 4 fixtures for years).

Joker's on a 1 year deal and Samuelsson is now 3rd pair. Don't sense much confidence from the front office in them either.

So 3 Days of no games. Hope Lindy has the boys working hard on cleaning up their game.
I'd suggest 3 days of working on the following:
- legally clearing out the net front.
- communication from F to Dmen on their net front coverage ... I. E. "I got the front go work the wall/corner"
Or
" 2 men in front, I have one you got the other, don't chase the puck."

Good Post! When teams get that cycle going in our zone, everything seems to go haywire. To many open in the slot or reading the newspaper in Front. Are D needs to be adjusted.

I'd love to know what is going on with him, especially since he played so well both times he came back last season.
Is he struggling with the new system, is he physically impaired?
WTF is up with him?

Cozens right now has no value at all

Quinn has no value

Adams traded a center for Byram. He’s not moving him.

It’s also too early for teams to be making moves. I doubt we see a trade form any team for a month or so
