I find it infinitely hilarious that the only player Adams wanted to keep from last year's team was Zemgus Girgensons who has a 0+0 zero stat line for his new team. The cherry on top is that Collin Robinson has 1+3 for the Hurricanes while major acquisition Beck Malenstyn has 2 points and adams used a 2nd round pick to do that.
- Hank Balling

One of the 2 points for Malenstyn was due to a puck going in off his body, and Adams was so excited during the behind the scenes draft party to get Malenstyn and only have to pay a 2nd to do it 🤣🤣

This is a direct result of the inability of the organization to bring in quality forward talent that would then push players like Cozens, Benson and Quinn down a line.

Same applies for even pushing any of Tage, Tuch or Peterka down a line.

Nobody outside the org knows the reason why.

The excuse is all players hate Buffalo.

The opportunity to change that was 2 seasons ago both at the trade deadline and the offseason. Instead the org slow played it under the guise of these things take time, and we love our players, which is humorous when Casey was traded later.

Are they risk averse, not wanting to pay the price? Too afraid to 'lose' a deal?

Regardless of the reason or reasons, only the results matter, and those results have been a constant over reliance on very young players being locked in high in the lineup positions without proper, quality veteran support.

No poop, and they are totally (frank)ed if BOTH of them don't get their head out of their asses, but doesn't this reveal the much larger problem, which is an inability to truly improve the top half of the roster, both on forward and defense?

If Cozens and company could figure it tf out no reason to think they couldn't be. IMO.
- DirtyDan

Even if Cozens and Quinn turn back into quality top 6 players, there's too many issues with the defense for this roster to be considered a sure fire playoff team, as was the question that was asked, especially with how thin they are with scoring talent.

I think they've already shown they can go on a streak. Something that they were incapable of last season. So much of it is Tage. Big trouble if he gets hurt again.

2 keys: Figure out a 2nd line + Goaltending.

Easy November schedule, take advantage of it.

Are we filing the roster construction of the defense under not fixable without trades, i.e. the offseason?

92 doesn't let Lindy bring in an assistant he likes, at the very least?
- Lunaion

92 points being enough for the entire org to say nice try guys, we'll try again next season is the overall problem with the way the team is run.

That is a pathetic baseline goal for the organization and team.

Stinks too, I really liked NAK, Lafferty was intriguing. NAK doesn't look the same in his first game back, maybe that's to be expected. But Lafferty is simply not good.

2nd line and penalties, agreed. Gotta get going/grow up quick or this is going to crash and burn fast.

- QuinnFan

Again we all ask, is expecting a 19 year old, 21 year old and a pair of young 20's to be consistent top performers on a 2nd line of a thin roster of forwards not a recipe for big, big trouble, if not disaster?

Management files the thin roster construction away under 'well, this is the best we can do'.

Not a knock on you, but so many of these websites are a cesspool sea of poop, loaded with horrendous adverts that make them virtually unusable.

To your point above...

More conversations ⚠️🚨🚨🚨

Also this…ok sure\. Seems like maybe something you would have done in July but at least he’s making calls I guess\.

We have heard this before. He calls everyone and anyone to ask about price and then calls it a day.

Happens every year. Sabres are “in” on every player then never goes anywhere

This from the Red Wings blog -- Sound like the Sabres much...?

>>> Detroit continues to lose scoring chances by throwing the puck into a crowded crease, deferring to passes when there’s an option to shoot, and leaving glaring holes in front of the goalie.

He has had Cap Space to use as a Weapon, Draft Capital and a supposedly one of the Top rated prospect pools in the League to use to adjust this roster.

He has alot of Darcy in him, but at least Darcy was able to pull off some nice deals... Just waited way too long and felt he absolutely had to win each deal straight up, rather than looking at the bigger picture of improving the roster overall.

This year? Even this year, think they gave him the opportunity to earn more time.
- Lunaion

He's started 3 of 10 games. He hasn't started a game in 2 weeks. I'd say that is the opposite of consistent playtime.

As much as there is ample evidence that Adams is not very good at the whole GM thingy, Pegula will not take him out unless there is another revolt like the one with Darcy.
He is here for a long time, and likely will pick his eventual successor.

He has taken his sweet time, and the reason why does not matter, to the point that the top rated prospect pool has been at least partially unmasked.

After firing Murray as their GM, the Sabres interviewed Zito.
They chose Botterill...

They just got Richard punched by Tampa too. Without Colton for 2 months, they're in some trouble.
