And I see St. Louis bag skated the Habs today and guess what, the players said they deserved it (they have very similar issues to the Bruins from what I've read).

Hey, I was saying that based on the decisions he made at the end of the 22/23 season and moreso his decisions in the first round elimination that year. There were plenty of issues last year as well squarely on the coaching staff not the least of which all the too many men penalties. The 22/23 team was just playing happy playing for a "player's coach" vice a more disciplinarian coach (Cassidy who coached the cup winning team that year btw). Now the player's coach approach is coming home to roost...undisciplined, no clear game plan, etc. So yeah, I blame much of what is wrong with this team on coaching.

Injuries to your top two centers and the goaltender will derail any team. The coach can never be completely removed but as an outsider, trust me, it's not the coach. Montgomery is a brilliant coach. It's the players. Zacha as 1 goal and 3 points, Frederick has 1 goal and 3 points. Coyle has 1 point in 11 games. McAvoy only has 3 points on the season. Geekie has 1 point

Let's see, top center and #1 goalie injured in last game when neither should have been playing. Brilliant coach plays injured goalie for first 6 games of series against the Panthers and then realizes, hey my goalie is playing hurt let's put the back up in for the deciding game 7 after he hasn't played in over two weeks. Yep, brilliant!

He has a .723 winning percentage as the Bruins coach. Coaches play injured players in the playoffs all the time. The Panthers series was 6 games. The final 3 games of the series were decided by one goal. With Charlie Coyle as the #1 center. If the slide continues, they'll have to do something and coaches often pay a price but the problem is not the coach. He's one of the best coaches in the NHL.

Nope 6 games was last year, 2023 playoffs I was talking about was 7 games. Swayman came for game 7 after Ullmark played injured the first 6.

Deal. Tortorella is an archaic dinosaur that isn't remotely in the class of Montgomery as a coach.

Monty will probably go to a team that will provide him pieces to win and not a ton of passengers. Then win a cup.

GM can't keep signing spare parts and hoping the coach will make them a champion. Lindholm was a start, but the overall makeup of the roster is that of a bubble team at best.

Can't argue with any of this.
Don't get me wrong, I do think Monty is a very good coach but he is a player's coach and it has been my observation that those types of coaches good performance is short lived. They usually come in after a more hard nosed coach and the relaxed atmosphere results in good performance most likely because a good foundation was established by the previous coach. Then after a couple/few seasons the lack of discipline begins to show. Again, just my observation.

Watched the last Flyers/Bruins game and this current one so far. I don't see a lack of discipline. I see players not producing

Much better performance today. Still a long way to go but an improvement. Hopefully Sway was watching closely and can use Korpi's game as incentive.

Jack Adams award winner in 22/23. Loses top two centers in 23/24 and coaches the team to a 109 point season and 2nd in the division by one point. Now a short 11 game skid and it's time to go?

You're questioning fans as if it's our decision . As a Philly fan I don't expect you to know or care of the inner workings of Boston's front office politics. If the Teams performance or lack thereof puts Sweeney and/or Neely in the hot seat, They will fire Montgomery and it doesn't matter what you or anyone else thinks. Keep your stats and your trophies. Dumb and Dumber in the front office will piss directly on that. That is exactly how it works here.

Looked like a completely different team last night. Played a strong team game and looked loose and comfortable out there. Until late in the 3rd they were in full control.

Game could have easily been 6-0. So many golden chances they couldn't finish but it was a great bounce back weekend. Pasta had some very very lazy plays so I don't disagree with Monty benching him and sending a message to the team. The one where he had Daccord down and out on his belly with about 5 feet to shoot at with no pressure and it almost felt like he DIDNT want to score. I was honestly dumbfounded with how nonchalant his shot was.

Side note: Jack Edwards was really struggling to put sentences together when they brought him on the broadcast. Sad to see. A Bruins legend forever for me.

Now lets see this effort against some of the better teams out there. The effort over the last two games has been much better. Its encouraging, but I am not getting my hopes up yet.

Really, there aren't any Boston fans saying its time for Montgomery to go? What I'm doing is giving an opinion the same as anyone else is. If it's not the fans decision then why is it being discussed? We're all just posting from a fan perspective. I think one thing that helps when you're not a fan of the team is that some emotion is being removed. If it doesn't matter what me or anyone else thinks then why are people commenting. Perhaps because this is a discussion board where things like this are discussed?

I don't think it is a difficult question to answer. Combine what I said with the fact that...

Montgomery is currently lame duck and doesn't have a contract.
The team has been vastly underperforming.
He's already calling out players in the media and absurd hysteria over "the shove".
You could also add in 2 ugly playoff exits to Florida.

Yeah folks are calling for his job. It ain't hard to tell.

Now you're conflating things after posting to me that I'm questioning things as if it our decision. You just did it. You just gave reasons why. See, we as fans can discuss it. Just as I was.

So now we can get back to the subject. If they fire Montgomery, who are they going to get? Who is available? Who is out there better than Montgomery?

Quenneville.

EDIT: However I don't think it's Montgomery who should be fired if anyone is getting fired. It should be Neely and everyone between him and Montgomery.

Bruins got flamed for signing Michell Miller after something he did when he was 12... Don't think they would hire a close to 70 year old coach that was a part of the Chicago Diddlehawks.

I think the Bruins are going to bounce back and Monty will be re-signed. The team dug in this weekend, which makes me believe they still are buying into Monty. If Monty gets fired, they would just put the interim tags on what we already have for assistant coaches and it would be 100% pointless firing.
