Ivan Ryabkin, 6' Russian center projected to go 7OA

Hannah Stuart - Bleacher Report - July 9th: "He's a strong skater with a terrific release; his quick hands and puck skills are up at the top of the class. His high-end vision allows him to read the play and anticipate his teammates, and his instincts are good off the puck as well."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - July 3rd: "He’s got a fantastic shot release and has some of the best hands in this class, allowing him to dangle opponents with ease. He’s got a contract until 2027, so get ready to hear the same conversations we’ve heard about Michkov, but the six-foot center is so fascinating

I submitted a perfectly fine Trade suggestion earlier in the blog to recapture the strong leadership qualities of Zemgus.

Edit:
To Bflo - Zemgus Gargleson
To Tampa - Ryan McLeod, $1.3m Retained

Are we sure we'll make it to 7th? This has all the familiar symptoms of a pending collapse.

They usually make it "close" in February before the collapse

True, we're usually better this early as well. I'm trying to stay positive by telling myself this team needs a superstar to succeed, and the top of the draft is where to get them.

Top5 is a good place to get those too fwiw.

And in all honesty, I don't think we're THAT far off. Need a good RHD to pair with Dahlin or Power. And need a pure goal scorer to pair with Tage. Moving Tuch or Peterka down a line makes this lineup look a lot better. Those two moves would really get us in a better place, whether it would be enough to contend for a Cup is a big question, but should get us into the playoffs where anything can happen.

Is that fair or think it's a lot more?

If the Bills released Samuel they would have to eat 12mill in Dead Cap space. F@cking guy needs to start doing something.

I think the additions you mention would be good enough to get them into the playoffs, but not to be a contender IMO.
The players on this roster are proving to be mental midgets making the same mistakes game after game, year after year.
This is a franchise that swallows up good players and spits out below average players.

The Core needs to be blown up.
There I said it.

It's the problem with losing for 14 years, always going to be big wants and needs. Sadly, just the nature of the beast at this point.

Felt bad watching Cam Jordan walking away from the lockerroom after the most recent loss. Writing was on the wall there.

Probably not, but never know. Most fun playoff run I've seen we started as the 7th or 8th seed, forgot which with the Drury/Briere run.

But I'm not so sure that we need to blow it up. What we really need to do is trade a roster player, add in a couple of the good prospects, and go get a difference maker. This is why I wanted Meier or Hertl when they were traded. We can afford them and they're good players. Adams is just too scared. In truth, I think the biggest addition we could make is a new GM. Even GMTM or Botts would be upgrades over Adams.

Agreed about needing a new Front Office, 100% agree.
But like the last reply earlier, there is nothing to suggest Pegula is going to do anything different. He won't replace Adams.. well, maybe if he promoted him to PoHO.. which is even worse.

The way I see it now, the team isn't planning to compete for several more seasons until they can fully integrate prospects in the pipeline into the roster. That means, over the next couple of years, older guys will be replaced with them... Zucker, Tuch, Greenway, 4th line, Joker etc.

So they need to wait for guys like Wahlberg, Rosen, Helenius, Kozak, Rousek, Novikov, Strbak, Kleber to come on-line.
While Cozens and Quinn take the merry time in developing, alla Mitts.

It has all be revealed to me!

It's hilarious that we've basically all accepted that Adams will absolutely get promoted after he's done screwing around as GM lmao

If this season falls apart, I don't see how you can't fire Kev. I get Terry isn't the sharpest owner and loves the guy, but the empty seats and ridicule can't sit well with him. At some point, there's no other option.

Power-Bryson??? Feel bad for Lindy, he just doesn't have options with this group.

Part of the issue is Adams, the other is Pegula, no argument there. I'd just hope a quality GM would tell Terry he's a billionaire, not a scout, and take him with a grain of salt. Big ask, I know.

And that would be unfortunate. I'm certainly hoping that this has become distasteful to Terry...having fans despise you must suck. But I don't know the man, so whether or not he cares, at this point especially, is a tough question. All that being said. There's a lot of parity in the league now with the cap and as such, teams can go from bad to good quickly. Just have to hope prospects develop and help get us over the hump or we luck into a great trade somehow. I know that's not the best news, but it's the situation we're in.

So much for digging another well, Terry. That 7M in space irks me every time I see it.

Yeah, you hope Benny comes back strong and it sparks the 2nd line. Putting the 3rd line back together should help the team overall. But you're right, I don't know what the reciprocal is of "options abound" but that's what he's got right now. Gilbert is an AHLer.
