A veteran team continually losing third period leads is a problem. A veteran team losing third period leads at home is a serious problem.
This is not on the coaching staff. This is on the players!!! |

We have to hope the coaches do not have to take the fall again.

How many blown leads are they up to now, 12…15? The PP was 0-3 Monday and is 8 for 63, 12.69% on the season - 32nd place. The PK is 70.2%, 31st. They are currently sitting in 10th place with an overall record of 8-9-5, they are 3-4-2 at home, and -8 goal differential. I don’t know. This team is hard to root for. |

Insane #Isles stat of the night:
They have held opponents to one goal or fewer through two periods in 14 of their 22 games.
They are 5-5-4 in those games.

Let's not jump to conclusions chief. It cannot be about a lack of talent. Puck luck plays a big part as well. |

Roy is clearly doing something wrong. Why is he still employed?

I have zero issues with him. Can't run through multiple coaches, make little changes to the roster, and still blame the team's failures solely on the coaching staff. |

That's absurd. I just looked at the standings. They only have 5 regulation wins. They love giving points away. |

Bingo! This is what Lou does. It's always the coaching and never him. GM's have to start paying more of the price and especially since they want their hands involved in coaching. |

I think this team's had to deal with a lot this season, losing 2/3 of its top line and like 1/2 of its defense corps for a while. I'd accept that's the cause for all of this if the underlying reasons for the losses weren't so familiar. This team's always had issues with blowing leads late, and it's always had dog shat special teams. The shame of it is they don't look terrible in any given game...they're good enough to hang with just about any team in the league...it's just that they're also bad enough to lose every single one of those games that they hang around in.
Anyway, they should thank their lucky stars that at least their tradable assets are playing great. If they finally want to bite the bullet and sell, I think they can get a nice haul that they can use to either restock the cupboard or flip for other assets if they don't want to go the patience route. |

Even under Barry, things were not perfect UIF. Outside the two ECF runs and outside the defensive play, there were still issues with not being ready to start games and overall consistency issues.
I really hope the team will be willing to sell because they do seem to have some good pieces to move. |

I have very little faith that Lou will swallow his pride and understand that he has a path to expedite a retool by moving Palmieri and Nelson.
Hell, if he's really hell-bent on keeping one or both in the fold then you can sign them back in the offseason.
But clinging to some sort of delusional belief that they're a "playoff team" just because they're hanging around the bottom of the wildcard standings and clinging to those two players because of that reason would be a monumental failure of asset management. |

I firmly believe they will do exactly what they shouldn’t do if there is even a semblance of a chance of making the playoffs. Then I fully expect him to double down on that stupidity and sign both Nelson and Palmieri so we can be handcuffed with whatever bullshat contract he signs them too. Why? That’s exactly what he’s done with this team and every other team he has been GM of up to this point.
He will keep doing this until he’s removed or he retires so buckle up this ain’t stopping anytime soon. |

I doubt it will happen but L&M could prevent Lou from extending Nelson and Palmieri. It would be a poop show and it means Lou would either have to quit or get fired. I've seen no evidence that they don't trust Lou.

It would be criminal not to trade Nelson and Palms. L&M can really be happy with one round of playoffs and attendance being down? Would be nice for Islander ownership to be ahead of the curve for once. |

The low attendance will be the eye opener for ownership. They can’t keep things status quo if people aren’t buying tickets (which is starting to happen).
This business model of “anything can happen if you make it in the post season” is not a winning recipe. Not sure why that’s an exceptable stance, but it seems that’s what’s happening. When’s the last time the isles were president trophy winners? Even in ‘93 they were a bottom seed. The isles need to evaluate why they cannot seem to get to the point of being a feared team vs facing a back up goalie |

Could not agree more. The Islanders are still seen as some mid team and not a feared team. That has to change. You are not winning the Cup all the time, but you cannot be a team that struggles to make the playoffs each year either.

At one point it seemed as though Ownership did listen to what the fans were saying. Now, I am not so sure.
The real question now is Ownership only using their ears when it comes to this team and Lou running the ship. Wealthy and smart people use more than one sense in life. |

Agreed. Like I said in my post it’s not happening unless he’s removed from his position. Lou helped this organization I get the trust they have him in but you gotta know when to pull the plug. Especially if what he’s doing can potentially hamper the teams future. |
