Can the next Dobson play consistent defense? Seriously, I think I agree with you, but it has become somewhat frustrating watching him continue to make rookie mistakes on defense. He seems to have regressed since Barry left, and has shown little sign of turning things around. And he turns 25 in a couple of months, he's not some teenager.

That's the end of my rant. He does bring some good offense.

You would hate to trade a player like Dobson. You also hate to give him a huge deal if he cannot play defense. His defense has been a problem and Barry is available to help Dobson and the rest of the defense.

I have been thinking about this since their lose to the Rangers on Sunday.

I would rather see the team give some of the players in Bridgeport a shot over giving away assets no matter what they are to keep the team afloat for the next two months.

I have also come to realize that you may not see the kids from Bridgeport as callups will have an effect on their contracts and the eligibility to go through waivers. The team may not want to restrict a player that is waiver exempt now but may not be in the future if the play too many games.

What management does now will impact the next 5 to 10 years.

Hagens would be ridiculous. Look at what the potential top 6 could be next year.

Yes, his defense is the problem. Mind blowing at times. But you are taking about a D-man that put 70 pts. You even consider moving this guy you better get the moon, stars and a few other planets. You keep him and search for a defensive D-man to cover his mistakes. You look at all the Offensive D past and present. How many are truly good defensively?

Pulock and Pelech are gone before this kid.

#Isles Transaction: Isaiah George has been recalled from Bridgeport.

Translation: Samuel Bolduc was so bad Sunday afternoon that we would rather throw a kid into his first NHL game against Crosby/Malkin

Bolduc struggling is a surprise. He seems to have the tools. Seems to be a lack of confidence with some of these prospects.

Asked Roy if he would try to protect George and not have him matched up against Crosby. Roy said absolutely not. No protecting him.

True.

That said, I sometimes wonder how many of his defensive gaffes are a result of trying too hard to create offence. Kid probably thinks if he doesn’t do it, then who will?

He never seemed to be able to put it together at the NHL level. He didn't get the most consistent opportunities, so maybe not entirely his fault...but the results aren't there no matter what

Well that’ll go splendidly.

Though he can’t really be any worse than Bolduc.

Roy on George: “He’s 20 years old, sometimes you’re afraid to throw someone in. But like I said to Lou, I was also 20 and I’m sure my teammates were poopting in their pants.”

I think young dmen need consistent playing time. I have no clue what is wrong with Dobson though since he has been given plenty of time? Is it bad coaching and bad scouting? Can this team only play defense for Barry?

Happy to see Roy having some input, but this kid can’t be ready. Maybe they’re shopping him?

Maybe, but I'm not seeing why they would. They've been open that they're relatively high on him and that's another defenseman out the door on top of the injured guys. I guess it could be for an NHL defenseman, but that would be dumb. Which means it's possible.

Would be dumb to look to trade George. What trade is out there do the Islanders think will save this season? Islanders should be holding onto every pick and prospect worth anything.
