He sucks! Too old and way to slow!

Three years after his knee surgery and a reported rigorous offseason workout program, he looks much better so far

The Oilers are just about the last team you want to face in 3x3 while the Isles are one of the first.

The difference in skill was readily noticeable. Oh well, I'll take that point that they grabbed late in the 3rd.

Team gets another loser point. Considering they were down 3-1 late in the 3rd. I will take it.

They did a good job hanging around and tying it up late, they get full marks for that. But you just knew how OT was going to go.

That shift where they just cycled the puck on the Isles guys that were out there for awhile and then got 97/29 on the ice was absolutely clinical. Perfect execution.

You take the point down 3-1. Islanders are not build for this minor league OT and especially without Barzal and Duclair.

They could learn something from that Edmonton shift. Pair Barzal and Duclair together and have them use their speed to wear out the other team and then look for the line change with possession to get some finishers out there against tired defenders.

They could learn something chief. I still hate this OT. Just play 5 on 5 for 10 minutes then it’s a tie.

I love it. I'd love to see it extended and the shootout entirely abolished. I won't even watch a shootout unless it's the Islanders.

And get rid of the loser point. Only 2 points awarded per game.

I do, but I hate them. I can watch an entire game + OT of two other teams play and then just turn it off if it goes to a shootout. They do nothing for me.

Of course it was him. My boy always puts in the extra effort when I make the 600km pilgrimage to see him live.

Was hoping for the shootout. Sorokin could've stolen the second point had it gone that far.

Agreed. I like 3v3. It's a new dimension that's forced teams to develop new strategies, but it still relies on the team concept unlike the shootout. I hated 4v4 and made all sorts of sarcastic remarks when they changed it to 3v3 like, "Oh, what's next, 2v2, or a 'Jordan vs. Bird'-style 1v1?" But, I was wrong. I know it's not for everyone, and some people will accept nothing but the old 5v5 for 5 minutes and a tie. But I think this is one thing the league got right.

Wish Lee started this improvement earlier. Islanders could have won more than one round the last few years.

Yeah I know there will be people that don't like it and that's fine, but it's a way to decide a game that usually yields a result and is 4000x better than a shootout. And it's fun as hell to watch.

I'd be fine with ties if they played 10 min at 3v3 and nobody scored. I think it would be incredibly unlikely to play that long as 3v3 and not have a goal. And when it happens, a tie is better for me than a shootout. Won't happen, but it would be my personal ideal scenario.

Geoff Sanderson is here pro scouting for the New Jersey Devils in a game in which his son, Jake, is playing. Here's his scouting report on Jake: "Good skater, moves the puck well, has a lot offensive upside...could do a better job mowing the lawn and cleaning his room."

Now that is a scouting report. Islander scouts should take notes.
