one have to wonder why it took them 3 years to realize this.

I heavily questioned/criticised MSL when he was hired. So I am not a MSL cheerleader.

I think he has done some really good things with the culture / focus and help some of the kids develop. Where I am frustrated is the refusal to bring in a veteran assistant coach that can help him and the team progress.

If MSL was not willing to do that, HuGo should have forced it upon him.

That is their biggest mistake, so far.

He’s great at developing kids…but he doesn’t have the humph it takes to coach the nhl « now ». He most probably will and that’s why a vet to help him out makes sense

meh, I really hate the "oh it took them so long to realize this, but I've been whining all this time about it" attitude, it's so pretentious.

who the (frank) knows lol. could be an advisor role, or I guess it could be for an assistant job, they probably don't need to fire anyone, unless there's a maximum numbers of assistant coaches allowed per team...

In fairness, we've been discussing adding a veteran coach to the staff for at least 18 months... that is a long time to be pretentious.

worst-case scenario, Molson can always call an Uber for Gallant.

Half the team is not playing on any given night... send them to the dressing room, lots of room now.

I get it, I was also among those who thought this would be a good idea. but before this year, it didn't feel like this was such a huge issue...

funny how this year you said after the game against TOR that you could tell this would be a good year and things should now be going well...

anyway, the point is they weren't struggling before like they are now, they didn't look as disorganized last season.

yes, you are right about that. because the first week or so they were playing zone defense. 100%. no man to man at all.
then they flipped to use a word à la mode, and started playing hybrid. that's when my patience went out the window.
but I told you I wouldn't talk about that anymore. you tricked me into it. lol

anyway, the hiring of Gallant would be an excellent news.

I think they should put the 2 lines that were working - CC/Suzuki / Slaf and Anderson/Evans/Gallagher back together.

Keep Ghule / Mattheson and Savard / Hutson.

Let the others figure out their poop and work with them to make it happen.

Sometimes you overcoach with trying to find solutions.

But that is just me.

I thought there was a pledge to stop talking about zone / man-to-man defense?

pretty sure they've been trying to implement the same system since the beginning of the year, they didn't switch to hybrid mode a week into the season...

but yeah, adding experience behind the bench would be welcomed for sure.
