That may be the beginning of the end for the CHL if hockey can gain some more traction.

I think the players having opportunity to make actual money instead of the pittance they get in major junior in Canada.

Fatty, hockey is only huge in 20ish markets unlike football nor does it generate that kinda revenue..... I don't kjnow if there will be enough NIL hockey money out there to hurt Major Jr that way.

I sure hope not, anyways. As of today MJ is the #1 feeder of the NHL. .. My guess is the end of the NHL-CHL agreement would hurt MJ more. Think how many KK's would leave for the AHL at 19 and if not then for sure at 20. Lotta those kinds out there.

Didn't realize the Hawks played at DAL tonight. Should mean Soderblom. Looking forward to seeing him v a top club in the Stars........ He's been incredible to me.

Most articles are saying it may kill the BCJHL and USHL models with more players possibly going the CHL\NCAA route. Get a per diem in CHL then off to college at 19 with a possibility of NIL money.

Interesting 1st line, and Wally Pipp Anderson is back as well.

So far I like the 1st line. Not a great 1st period by the Hawks. They are in this game though. After Soderblom kept them in the first, maybe they can have his back and carry the 2nd.

For sure, Wizard. I posted my biggest concern is what this will do to the USHL. Lotta Jr A's too. Kids on Penticton of the BCHL will now have some MJ spots to replace kids who left for the NCAA and that continues down to the lowest tiers. Voids are created and then filled ..... But it's good overall. Anytime you can give a kid more and different paths it's a good thing. As I read, you have Canadian kids who have to decide between MJ and and the college route at 15-16 yrs old. That's waaay too young for a kid to have to make that big of a decision.

Clever, Lou...... They were outshot 15-6. But to my eye the Hawks are getting a lotta speed thru the neutral zone and when you do that your dangerous. .. Hopefully that continues but I'm guessing DAL makes adjustments. .. Good to see Anderson back. I'm guessing L3 of Foligno, D!ckinson and Anderson, back together again, make a mark somehow.

rpete, Lafferty scored tonight..... Torts scratched the young Cossack, Michkov.

Probably too early to say, and it might not even matter on Nov 7th, 2024, but Soderblom has probably passed Commesso as the #2 in the organIzation. ..... Lotta speed and skill attacking him and he's staying quiet, which was his Achillies heal last yr.

Really enjoy watching him play. He had every right to suffer from PTSD from last yr but instead revamped his game and is bunches better. ... No small feat.

This looks like it's gonna be 2 games in a row Vlasic hasn't been close to himself. Doesn't budge as he and Murphy get split for an in alone, 3 seconds later with all the time in the world he throws it at the glass for an icing.

He ain't quite right right now.

He’s played well this year, square to the shooter, however still giving up the rebounds, not as many as last year, but still too many. If he can clean that up, he could be a #1 on an NHL team.

I agree. It will be interesting to see how this sorts out and how the NHL teams will use this to get kids into the AHL faster as they could use this to bypass the nhl/chl agreement

This is a pretty poopy game but at least Reichel finally looked good with Bedard.

Bedard 2 block shots, 3 hits, and a takeaway? And 2 PIMs and a helper.

He turn into a gritty 3C? Lol

I understand this is the last column by Zach

I appreciate your time and input, Zach

Perhaps if you are reading this, would you be able to explain whether anyone could just open a column by posting a score and not even a comment - or brief commentary - done after each game. Then let the board talk about whatever

There are hockeybuzz monitors too no matter just to be in the up and up whether they get to any issues or rulings late. I just wanted to include that insofar as I don’t know if Zach or anyone else had the role of monitoring- actually I don’t think Zach did but previous monitors may have been whoever wrote the column

Just would like us all to know if there is some way this forum could continue with anyone able to step in to Zach’s job but not be expected to post as a depth or lengthy column. Maybe thought of as a caretaker for X amount of time when hopefully someone else might take over Of course it sounds like HB itself may not be around much longer

Here’s hoping this board can continue though through the end of season and the Entry Draft

He's done an excellent job rebounding and showing lot of mental fortitude. I think you gotta stick with the guy that performs not the guy that may perform someday. There is probably still room for Commesso as well since now the general thinking is it takes two goalies to win at this stage.

I haven't back read so I don't know if this has been posted. It's a Hockey News article describing some of the implications of the NCAA vote allowing Junior players to play in USA colleges.

Interesting article and video regarding the whole CHL/NCAA thing. It will be really interesting to see how all of this plays out. I think it's a net gain for the players, but I'm sure there will be plenty of bad examples.

I was predicting 18 months ago that NIL would make a big difference in the CHL vs. US college going forward.

They better change that rule about age and going to NHL minor league teams or they'll lose many more stars then they already are.

College BB and FB players are making multi million dollars. If you are a young hockey player in Canada, say Bedard or Celebrini, and you can make 2 or 3 million plus endorsments before you turn 20, you have to do it.

I didn't get to see the game last night but i have noticed 4 straight games Vlasic is playing about 25 plus minutes, even on a back to back. I am just not a fan of dmen playing all these minutes in a game.

He looks tired....... Could be wrong but his seemingly lazy mental decisions leads to things like that 1st icing when they got hemmed in for 3 minutes. Maybe 1:30 into it he had the puck on his stick, facing the endwall, nobody within 10 ft and without looking just spun and whipped it off the glass.

Unlike him. He's careful about being unhurried and for him that is a mentally lazy sequence.

Comparing college hockey to college basketball and college football is comical.

Billion dollar industries that generate massive revenue. College hockey isn't even on the same planet. Outside of huge stars like Celibrini, I don't see many college hockey guys getting million dollar plus NIL deals lol.

I was thinking about the Wings game and now i really can't wait for the kids to start coming up. Larkin was the most dangerous player for them, why because of his speed and stick handling. He created their best chances of scoring most of the night.

I see some of it in Reichel right now he gets past the first layer of defense he's dangerous in the ozone. My hope is to see more of these kids in the system have this ability. Sounds like Nazar, Moore, Lardis just to name a few have this quality.
