20 games in i have to say Allan and Kaiser are really really playing well. I keep expecting them to turn into pumpkins and they just keep playing well.
I don't expect it always but there is ho hum Di ckinson shutting down the top line even with Bedard on the wing. Andersen played a great game a well.
I think I'm beginning to see Reichel being on the right side of the puck and when he helps out he seemed to come out with the puck tonight aIong the boards.
I think Vlasic is even better this year. |

Wow...talk about apples to oranges. The White Sox were actually competing and on the precipice of being a contender. They went from that to bottoming out vs what the Hawks are doing. Not saying it's going to work but that's not a good comparison. - HawkintheD
The last 2 seasons? Pretty similar. Bottoming out implies young kids are coming up and the team is on the upswing now. |

Good for the boys...... Thought this was Anderson's worst game. Unusually he was really unaware and that's a huge part of his limited skill game. Twice he was surprised along the wall by a Dman when he's GOT to get a puck out. - Mr Ricochet
Really? I thought the opposite. |

Now that was worth staying up for, they were aggressive in that third period, unlike the game against the Ducks. |

Until the kids make it to this level there are certain things that surprise. Allan was all over the ice tonight, no one talked about his quickness. At times i felt like there were 2 of him defending in his own end. |

For me that was Martinez -- seemed like there were 2 of him out there (in his own end) - think he did a pretty good job.

JHawk, Phillips is like a 6th rd pick allowed to play AHL a couple yrs early cuz of the Covid shutdown. A swing if you will. ..... But he showed athleticism and some jump in his feet and showed me skilled hands in the NHL. Fantastic to see out of a big 6th rounder.
Then showed he wasn't overwhelmed on a historically bad Hawks club and looks like a legit fringe 3rd pairing NHLer. Some day this big athletic kid is gonna be 25-26 and a real man who showed as a 6th rd pick he's coachable and will work to get to the level he has. I could easily see some NHL GM's thinking this kid is gonna be a solid at least depth NHL guy.
In short kid checks a lotta boxes. No surprise if is at least a depth NHL athletic Dman with size. - Mr Ricochet
I think when it comes to Phillips, the fact that he has cleared waivers twice this year, with no teams claiming him should be all you need to know. |

I was ok with Anderson’s game. But he has the same offensive game as Connor Murphy. Murphy retrieves the puck and chips it up the boards. Anderson gets the puck at center ice and chips it up the boards. Both players struggle to create offense. I would much rather see Bedard D!ckinson and Hall or Donato or even Smith on the first line. Playing Anderson on the first line is making Bedatd play with one hand tied behind his back.
Bedard D!ckinson Donato
Hall TT Bertuzzi (or TT Hall Bertuzzi)
Maroon Reichel Smith
Mikheyev Foligno Anderson (shut down) |

Maybe I am sure the put Bedard on wing, with 16 and 22 might look good to the coach, but for my money, it just seemed to have robbed Bedard of a good deal of his creative dynamism.
Nice win. I believe it that Bedard is putting a ton of pressure on himself - so if this is about working out how he can take a load off, mentally - ok, I guess I can understand that. - SC116
Didn't watch the game, but the box score has a big 0 next to sog for Bedard.
Maybe he was active and just couldn't hit the net for all I know.
Then I read someone's post on X,that LR was keeping the Bedard/Richardinson/not sure who the other wing was matched up against Barkov??
Nice to see Kaiser and Allan chipping in and the team winning but Bedard with 0 SOG stinks of Luke's incompetence. |

I thought they brought in Martinez and Brodie to help advance the learning of Vlasic, Allen, and Kaiser. Since out defense is better, hat might be the case

I only excluded Hagens because I was replying about Misa and Martone. It sounds like Hagens is the gem of the draft. But I’d keep my eye on Schaefer, with his skill, skating ability, and strong two way game he can potentially be that stud defenseman that all teams covet. - paulr
I thought we just drafted that stud defenseman |

There can only be one?
Thankfully Keith never needed a Seabrook as that would be TWO defensemen

Thanks for the info
Luke has lost me. He had Bedard go against the Barkov line on purpose because.....? Bamford had the article where I read that he matched them all night even though he had last change. |

I think that was because Richardinson was on Bedsy's line and Richardinson is the best shut down forward we have. Bedsy was just along with the ride

Rinzel, KK, Vlasic just not enough. Because maybe our biggest need is scoring. Wizard… just got the joke. |

Yeah, I get that, I still think it is mismanagement on LR's end.
Bedard should not be on the "shut down line". Either move Bedard to play with someone else and away from Barkov or gave Bedard and D!ckinson play on the same line and have Foligno or someone else's line match up against Barkov

Funny thing Bedard "0" shots on net as he was mugged whenever the puck was going to him yet they won against the Stanley Cup champion |

No - he got nothing - and no one could get him the puck - I don't even recall him taking any shots. Remembering the stupid joke supposedly they said to Panarin his first year when he was on Kane's line? Just remember one thing - get Kane the puck.... well, Bedard has no one to get him the puck. Not with that line.
I mean maybe Anderson and 16 tried getting him the puck - but I mean they weren't anywhere close if they did ... so it was a whole lotta nothing.
-If you saw him 'getting mugged going to the net' - I missed it - and since he wouldn't have had the puck - would have been interference call night at the UC on the Panthers. It wasn't - and 98 wasn't dangerous. Maybe on that early powerplay -but he never shot it. However I find it tough to believe any team would double team someone while on a PK... as it was - that goal was basically a Teuvo to Bert give and go (sorta) - Bert had a pretty crappy shot that created a juicy rebound that Teuvo made no mistake on - and he had about 1/3 to 1/2 the net to shoot at. |

I wasn’t necessarily suggesting the Hawks select him. I just think he’ll go early in the draft especially if he puts a good season together. That said, you build from the net out and if he’s best available you select him regardless of what prospects you already have. At the end of the day you can try to acquire what you need by trade later. |

A very strong small offense player in junior began his career in the NHL as the third line center shutting down opponents top lines. Eventually he progressed to the top line where he was a top two way center. His name was Doug Gilmour. A little adversity early in his career isn’t going to hurt Bedard and if he learns to play a better two way game it will only help him and the team down the road. Unless of course you’re only concerned about his offensive numbers. |

The White Sox were actually trying to compete for the playoffs or at least thought they were only 2 seasons ago. They unintentionally bottomed out with a bunch of players they thought could be part of their core but spent more time on the DL than on the field. The results might be the same but the way they got there really isn't.

A message from Paul Maurice to the BOD. Ok not exactly but I’m passing it on from Lazerus’ column this am in The Athletic…not that it’ll help.
One other note for Blackhawks fans from Maurice: “You guys came to the rink for 20 years, won Stanley Cups and beat the hell out of everybody, and you just assume that’s the way it should go every year. But you’ve got good young players, you’ve got a superstar. It’s just a matter of time.” |

Maurice is on drugs, anyone who understands the game knows KD has a collection of busts including the so called superstar who can’t skate or shoot, Bustard. |
