Nazar is listed 5 pounds heavier than Reichel. - rpeters01
You can’t trust the measurements that are listed on sports sites, Reichel looks, or is playing like he’s gained some strength. |

It sounds like he's seeing things much better this season offensively. |

The season after next
Some thoughts
Very limited number of veterans here
Or you have to keep SOME kids longer
On the sideline press box or Rockford
Maybe a Greene or Moore goes down to AHL
For a while longer when they are showing they are ready to try the NHL
Simply because you have to properly slot newbies in
So they will succeed and not be overmatched from the get go
The top forward prospects may or may not be on L3 &L4 initially
Like first season NHL
Of course with line juggling occasionally a Moore or Greene could get a period or a few shifts on a top line
Consider though the first in ‘25, Lardis probably will want to try them on top two lines before Moore and Greene
Don’t forget there are other prospects who are a more natural fit for bottom two lines
Like Slaggert Savoie Ludwinski maybe Hayes
They should play if they are deserving ready so as not to stick maybe just one top forward prospect to begin on a bottom line
The blueline crew really is exciting
Kaiser and Allen appear keepers only get better
Arty and KK coming on they have to get a shot
But you have Jones and Vlasic
That is six with only one long term veteran in Jones
DelMastro is great as depth for injury fill in
You know what you get with him even if this is a lot of youth on the blueline
The coach may try going this way
After all they are not green rookies
I omitted Rinzel
Who is a mystery because he may stay another year collegiste
And should start AHL no hurry to rush him - jhawk59

So with those 2 points by Reichel today in 116 nhl games he scored 40 points, Patrick sharp same amount of games being 2 years older 38 points. As I've said before no need to trade him let him get his minutes and let's see where this goes. Will he be a 20 goal scorer per season, don't know, but there is a lot to like about his game right now. |

I think Dots is right - in that even though at the start of the season I wrote something 180 degrees different - it was at a time when he was stapled to the pressbox on the initial road trip - if you are not going to play him- then you need to move him.
Now though they have him mostly with a line where he is set up for more success- in a way it is a version of the good old Cold Steel on Ice line of Secord Sevard, and Larmer (ok not exact - and more like similar)... you got a big banger with decent hands, a guy who is able to do one times, and a slicker, smaller guy - and it doesn't hurt that there is absolutely no pressure on the 4th line to perform -and when they do - it is with more limited ice time. And what I mean by that is that the forwards on that line have similar functional purposes to that old line from the 80's. Maroon isn't winning races, but he can block daylight on the goalie and is going to be a PITA to move from there. Smitty can give and go - and Reichel has some moves to him.
Must have been an early game, so it happened during lights out time down here... I could go back and watch the replay, but I won't. Got other stuff to do today... |

Easier to read

The Hawks have lots of offense…outside the NHL. |

Man Arty looks like he's starting to just play the game, his first step looks special in the defensive zone. A few times tonight he broke up a play when it didn't even look like he was aware of a forward in the area. |

I think a trade is coming most likely after the holiday.
Frost Hayden newhook Colton kennt Johnson just throwing some names our there that fit the description of what the Hawks are looking for. Maybe inquire about Shane Wright also. Something gotta give if the Hawks want to take the step in the rebuild. |

Usually the team pursuing the trade has to give up something to get something. Unless teams are coming to the Blackhawks for any of their veterans you may be right but there is no way KD who drafted his sort of players is going to be trading them away for any kind of hope to make this team better in the short term.

I don’t know about a trade after the holidays but I do agree the team needs a first and second line to be scoring threats……now Nazar would be one piece and maybe Reichel ascends. The thing I think it’s important to consider is, exactly what kind of player/center or forward would KD add? Someone who can definitely generate points more than the TT and Bertuzzi duo provides!
But I say KD will add a legitimate top line player through trade or free agency after this season and he will draft a top line forward with the ‘25 first round choice. I don’t think a big name trade or free agent sign comes until more prospects settle in to regular jobs. The earliest I imagine a significant big trade could happen would be trade deadline next season
I sound like I am saying two different things about when to add a center or top forward, so precisely I mean a point generating legitimate top six forward after the season ends like sometime around every Draft. But the hoped for really good center or top L1 forward would come from either the ‘25 #1 draft or through a trade/free agent AFTER a few more prospects have come in and claimed jobs. One or two seasons away for a big acquisition.
These young promising forwards you mention, Scott, I feel KDcwould prefer to pass on and add his newbies through the draft and a trade/free agent. That’s how he wants to build;?the players you toss out aren’t going to step in and be legitimate L2 guys - oh maybe they might turn out to be - but don’t waste any asset we have to trade for them
I would check into K Johnson but he already has injury concerns as in prone to injuries and I don’t know the other names you mention are good enough to be the centerpiece of even our second offensive line |

Canes are in trouble with both goalies out--possibly fairly long-term. Would Hawks entertain trading Mrazek, or Soda? |

Trading from a position of strength like moving out a journeyman veteran is one thing but weakening the team by moving a needed player or position makes no sense at this time. Unless of course Carolina is willing to overpay in a big way. |

Canes/Hawks just don't match up well in a trade. They're in win now mode and the cupboard is bare. Hawks need NHL ready prospects. With that being said, KD will trade Mrazek to Canes for his own 3rd rounder back because we NEED MORE PICKS! It is interesting to see Carolina's roster has only 7 guys on the big club that were drafted by the team. |
