Just returned from the local cenotaph. A very nice ceremony as the clouds cleared the way for the sun. |

I haven't been paying attention to the Canucks much this season but I guess Sprong wasn't so great defensively. I'm curious what you guys think of his play, was it that bad? He was supposedly working hard on improving his 200ft game but I guess not. He's a good kid and a gifted player, but you have to buy in defensively too. - JLO961
He is a defensive black hole. Dreadful player, glad he's not wasting a roster spot. He'll be on waivers before Christmas. |

He’d look good on the Oilers, they don’t care about defence. |

Exactly why the Canucks should if they want to build on last season.
Acquire a top 4-D. |

Suter-Miller-Lekkerimaki.
DeBrusk-Pettersson-Garland.
Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood.
Joshua-Raty-Hoglander.
Hughes-Hronek.
Soucy-Myers.
Brannstrom-Desharnais.
Sounds like Joshua is not expected to play tonight.
Im gonna guess Bains slots into that 4th line spot for now. |

I agree. Canucks are in a win now mode. They’ll probably mortgage the farm to acquire one. Flames have Andersson available but not sure what Alvin would offer?
Willander? |

You have to pay the price for quality player's. Pressure is on to build on last season. Edmonton/and such will be a big challenge again. Go after Bowen Byram or? |

At this point, none of Willander, Lekkerimaki or D-Petey are available I would suggest. They’ll flip a 1st rounder and a few roster players but not their young guys.
They just have to tread water until the New Year and keep themselves in the playoff picture, which they’re doing. By then the guys will be more comfortable with each other, they’ll be healthy, and Demko will be back. Marathon, not a sprint. |

“Elias Pettersson may not have a ton of highlights, but his transition has been as smooth as it gets.
He’s the only defender with a positive rating (+3) and plays an incredibly effective game. Of course, there's the physicality. He's likely the team's best d-man. #Canucks” |

No, I know it’s Alvin. Just basing it on the 2 Bruins he traded for last season.
Thanks Alvin. |

What are you smoking? No one like Willander (11th overall pick) was ever included in trades for Lindholm or Zardov. You got a 1st, a young dman who was drafted in the 3rd round (for a reason), a 3rd round pick & a 5th round pick.
So Allvin pretty much got them for a late first, a young dman who has a limited shot at an NHL career and a less than 5% chance any of those picks make the NHL. Almost free.
Willander is a sure fire NHL’er…keep dreamin! |

It's one of the reasons I wasn't too keen on Tocchet long term, he has this habit of being TOO much a systems guy and his systems are easy to beat once you get used to them. It doesn't help that we don't have Demko in and our D is nowhere NEAR as good as last years. - DariusKnight
Geez I dunno. To criticize Tocchet at this point. The team was on the verge of a complete teardown before he came in. Multiple coaches failed with the same core. I don't think there is anything to warrant that he's not good long term. I shudder to think where they'd be without him. |

Thank you. Well, maybe spoke too soon on Lankinen but it was bound to catch up to him. Even with Boeser and Demko out, losing to a very mediocre Edmonton Oilers club at this point like that at home not a very good sign. Hoping for more. - ScotlandVonRickens
Look whose calling oil mediocre. Your nucks wont get by them in the playoffs. Once a nuck always a nuck. |

Kuzmenko was a cap dump after he fooled everyone his first season, gotta thank Conroy for taking on that burden. |

I mean, I don't think it was that cut and dry. He was a burden to canucks because all the wasted cap they have/will have, but he was only 5 mil for one more year coming off an almost 40 goal year. From what I've seen, his complete game has improved considerably already in Calgary ... and he was always a fun positive guy to have around. |
