I am here for all pun-related titles.

I could swear Eller was listed at six-foot-five a couple years ago. Now listed at six-foot-two.

It's pretty clear the Penguins are hell bent on throwing this season away. Good. Getting a good draft pick is more important than any moral victories on the ice.

It is a little poetic that its Washington. A team, like Pittsburgh, that is going to transition to a new reality soon, yet they've been able to get a lot more out of their roster by team building the right way despite far less production from their core not named Ovechkin.

2027 will be the ultimate “low” for the team. Most likely dead last, no hope, and team will be full of 20 year olds.

Maybe Uncle Gary Bettman gave Dubas his marching orders that the #1 pick is ours this season and to try to not make it look obvious.

I havent seen much about this draft class, are any of the top picks expected to be on the high end? Doubt any are of Crosby/McDavid pedigree, most of us would've heard of them by now in that case.

Hagens is the big name, but from what I read, he’s not on the same level as Bedard or Cellebrini

I watched the first period last night and I saw Sid make a couple completely uncharacteristic bad decisions. He used to be able to elevate lesser players. Doesn't seem like he can do that. Letang has been awful. EK has been awful. Bunting... awful. Rust...awful. Petts....awful. Gryz....good Lord has he sucked. Sid and Geno have been decent, but they'd have to be in their primes to overcome those other players.

I liked Eller, but I think that's good value for a guy that doesn't really matter. Good player for his age. Tough as nails. Great attitude.

2027 3rd? Damn, won’t know till 2031 if he’s even at nhl level at the earliest.

What % of 5th rounders become regulars?

The sad part is that the Pens had a way better foundation to work with than the Caps. Imagine we trade a couple picks for Chuchryn instead of signing Grezylk and we trade Jarry for PLD.

Neither a game changer in their own right but subbing out unneeded players for two players with utility and upside.

Guess that is a fair enough return on Eller? Beauvillier probably next since he has shown flashes?

Eller could have fetched a little better at the deadline I think. At this point I’m just happy for Eller. He’s a good player who plays hard, tough hockey. He deserves better than what this organization can offer.

Grzelcyk, Beauvillier, Bunting, Jarry, Nedeljkovic (or Jarry), Acciari....all should be shopped.

Letang (or Karlsson), Pettersson and Graves: we have to get rid of at least a couple here. Get good picks.

Agree on all counts. Dubas said last night they've been trying to move him since the spring. Just took what they could and cleared up a roster spot and some cap space to take on another contract later.

Of the list of players you mentioned not sure which players were better? Dubos retreads or hextals retreads? Dubas made some JR overpaid signings like graves.

It amazes me how players suck when they arrive in pittsburgh via trade. Bunting and EK (for sure)..2 players that played ok were ned and beauvillier. Eller was the best player by far though.

I came here to say this exact thing haha. Weird time to trade him. True competitor/playoff teams in general could be banged up and needing depth or a team could just want a really f'n solid 4C. I think a 2nd could have been had at the TDL. Also, if Dubas is doing this to try and make the team better now, as its being reported, it doesn't make sense in that regard haha. Eller has been one of their more solid players. They are worse without him.

We hardly ever agree but a 2027 3rd is a wack thing to get in return, for sure hahaha

Beauvillier and Ned seem like easy moves. Won't get much for them but something is better than nothing.

Petterson has some real value. Another question is who will we retain cap on... Petterson half retained will net a 1st at the deadline. But if we want to move Karlsson or Greyzlk they we likely have to retain something.

I think we are stuck with Hayes, but he is the guy I'd love to get rid of more than anyone.

Biggest wildcard for me is if we can trade Sullivan. He needs to go, and he should want to go rather than rebuild. If he is regarded as highly as many say he is, an underperformer looking for a spark should be willing to give up some draft capital.

I think Petts definitely gets traded now. I just think Dubas should wait until 2025 to be doing this stuff haha

The first group will get you nothing at all..late draft picks. Maybe Bunting brings a 3rd. Letang and Karlsson will bring little and Pens will be retaining big time get rid of them. Neither can play a lick of defense and their offensive game is gone. ...Graves no one will want again unless Pens retain 50%....Maybe Petterson gets a 2nd . Maybe

Gutz landed a 2nd, 3rd liner and 2 prospects who might not ever be nhl regs. It’s laughable to think the pile of garbage left will bring back anything of value. Pets gets a 2nd.

Dubas hasn’t proven he can build a team at all, let alone start a rebuild.

Gryz at the deadline will make almost nothing. If they can't trade him at all, they just keep him to finish out the year.

Pettersson I think they only retain on if they can't move a longer contract, because he'll go regardless. You are right they could get a better return, but if they can move EK for example I think that's where retention goes.

If they were serious about being competitive next year they'd keep Pettersson, just like they'd have kept Guentzel, but we all know they won't and aren't.

It was reported by multiple people that they've tried to trade Eller since last deadline. Including over the summer. Sure, they could have gotten a little more in the perfect situation, but you risk injury or maybe his performance drops significantly....on this team, his value could go down.

JMO... Take what you can get for a 4th line center. 2 picks is pretty good. They suck with him. They can suck without him. Petts is on deck.

The only guy you are getting something of value for is Pettersson. The rest, and I wouldnt trade Bunting, are getting you late round picks, if even that.

Maybe Dubas thinks pieces down in the A are just as good, or better than, some of the pieces in the NHL. Making room to get them up.

Or they just want to see what they have with some of the guys in the A. A lot of them are doing well down there, get them up and see if they can swim. Helps decision making for next year.
