I think liquor is different than wine. I wouldn't pay 50$ for a bottle of wine that's empty at the end of the evening but paying a little extra for a bottle of gin that lasts for months is worth it IMO.

Fundamentally, that is an issue worldwide, where corporate greed is managing to move / change faster than governments can enact law or make their own changes.

There has always been greed in the system, but Covid exacerbated that greed opportunity, and corporations realized they can get away with a lot more than they previously thought.
