They say ubi but he didn’t skate for awhile. If it was his wrist you think he would still be skating.
- bryant

To be fair he only missed a little more than a week and he was in Germany for 5 days. My guess is he wasn’t skating due to the trip. Even he has said it’s upper body.

"I mean, I'm not sure it's so different but in this market, it gets a little bit blown out of proportion," Matthews said.

Good ol’ Toronto lol

Jim Montgomery said Doug Armstrong is very persuasive. How? Montgomery: "The best line that put his hooks into me was 'When something delicious falls on my plate, I eat.' So, I don't know, I guess I was a T-bone that day."

Sounds like Zezel was feeding him lines in an earpiece.

This year's team so far has been more beautiful than anything in the Matthews era to date. Loving the vibe with this group.

In the aftermath of their 6-2 loss in Edmonton on Saturday, the Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster.

Among the names indicated are Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba, although other options will be considered.

15 team no trade list too

Well the feel has been this core is done if they don’t dominate this year

They have to shed significant salary for next season

Maybe there’s an expiring contract they can trade for with Krieder

Yeah, and I think the fanbase was pretty much unanimous in wanting the D upgraded.

Berube has changed how we play though. That's still a work in progress, but the results are showing and when the play style supports it, you can make your goaltending look better than it is, not to take away from Stolarz/Woll, but they're not exactly a proven veteran tandem or anything.

- gravyface

Obviously the team has a lot to do with how a goaltender performs - they can take away second chances, they can box guys out leaving minimal ability to get off a good shot in tight, they can reduce screens or deflection capability by efficiently cleaning out the front of the net - and they can just be in lanes to reduce cross-crease passes or open slot opportunities. It's one of those things that makes the calculation of HD chances a little unfair. An HD chance against Edmonton right now is _really_ HD, but an HD chance against Carolina is rarely as clean.

That said, since 2021 the top-10 best goalies in GSAx / 60 are (minimum 20 games) are:

Andersen 0.52
Shesterkin 0.52
Stolarz 0.51
Hellebuyck 0.49
Sorokin 0.48
Broissoit 0.41
Saros 0.37
Ullmark 0.37
Woll 0.36
Daccord 0.33

The first thing that stands out are that the most commonly thought of elite goalies - Hellebuyck, Shesterkin, Sorokin and Saros are all on this list. Other guys considered in that top tier like Ullmark or Varlamov (11th), Vasilevksiy (13th), Demko (21st), Oettinger (22nd) are all in the top quarter of this list - they are consistently good and consistently above average.

Yet there is Stolarz sitting unheralded at #3, and Woll at #9 - both with little reputation to speak of. This is the the year that they get to prove themselves.

True fact. When alligators get cold they slow down. The colder they get, the more catatonic they become.

In the Florida "winter" when I hunt fossils in the local rivers, the alligators will come out of the cold water and bask in the sun along the river banks. When the air temps hit the 40's and the spring-fed river is not far above that, they become statues.

In warmer weather, when you paddle past them, sometimes they will startle and scramble off the bank into the water. In the winter, they just sit there absolutely motionless with their eyes closed, like realistic-looking statues. You could yell or slap your paddle on the water and get no reaction. It's during these times that it's not unusual to see a bird perched on their body picking off bugs crawling on their scaly armor.

A raccoon hitching a ride wouldn't be too unbelievable if the gator already had a full belly and the temperatures were chilly.

You're lucky.

My feed is full of people filming people physically assaulting other people.

What logarithm has figured out that I want to see that?

I'm not sure I buy this one. They are a top-10 team in the league - granted they've had a sweetheart schedule to start, going 10-2-1 against non-playoff teams and 2-4-0 against playoff teams.

Still it feels more like a GM trying to use the media to tell his team to step it up as opposed to changing it. I do think they've been trying to move on from Trouba since the playoffs though.

That's what comes of being a two time Hart finalist vs two very good players with a few outlying elite years. Also Tavares since his illness seems to have hit his 2018 form...smells a contract yearrrrrr

JT has been ridiculously consistent for like 15 years.

the one outlier was 2018

his 5v5 points the last 3 seasons have been 35, 37 and 39.
last season he basically had a down year for sh% (very luck based) and PP points were down.

he is still chugging along ...doing the same thing all the way through his 7 year leafs deal. which is great
