Fair enough. However, if he doesn't really like playing in Toronto as has been reported do you really think he's going to be happy as a player here and give it his all night in and night out? Also, why give up assets for a guy who, based on these reports, won't resign after the season is over?

Of course this is all speculation. Maybe he loves it here and will come back and stay. Who knows.

He waived his NTC to be traded here 2 years ago

And there has never been a report he didn't like playing here. The only report was that he chose Nashville for less of a spotlight.

He is signed for another 2 years after this one.

And I repeat, a player who signs a 4 year contract with no trade protection most likley doesn't have where he is playing as a priority.

Don't be silly.

The obvious package here is filled with players fans don't want or have given up on and no first rounders involved.

Nashville won't say no to that!

Perhaps my inference on the report that he turned down the same money and term from Toronto to go to Nashville was that he didn't enjoy playing here. I know I've heard it from others on this board but to your point this doesn't make it true.

I think you're missing the point of what I said. I'm not looking at it from his perspective, I'm looking at it from a Leafs perspective.

If I am Brad Treliving and I am looking at trading some valuable asset(s) for a guy who, based on my inference above, doesn't necessarily want to play for this team I am not going to make that deal.

Now, if all of this is wrong and ROR is fine coming back to and playing in Toronto then it's a matter of if he is worth the cost. If he comes back and they win the Cup then sure. If he comes back, they lose in the first round and he walks, then no.

That was a beautiful open ice, clean hit. That video should be used to teach players to keep their head up when carrying the puck through open ice.

You can go back to crying now.

so was Reaves hit on Nurse.

Robertson, Kampf, Reaves and Holmberg should get it done

I don't think any mix of Minten, Robertson, and picks gets the deal done.

Fun story. We pass by the Clinton Tim Hortons location when we go to our trailer during camping season. My son always references this when we see it.

We literally have a direct comparison of a Leafs trade for ROR lol

And he was 2 years younger.

It would not take that much

His head was up. He was skating along the boards and had nowhere to go. Other than that, good post.

Now he has term, so it's silly to call it a direct comparison.

I was trying to look up the full results from the trade...the players that were picked with the leafs picks. but its just a bunch of names...so far nobody prospects

but its similar, hes older, but has more term...so evens out a little

Nick Robertson scored at a 21 goal, 42 point pace last year.

He's still very young, was a steal at #53 in the second round, and is the brother of Jason Robertson, who scored 116 goals over the past 3 seasons.

I'm thinking Nashville can't afford to say "no" to a Robertson for O'Reilly (50% retained) trade.
