Things are looking good...but is this really the time to call it a complete success?

Obviously, they need to do it in the playoffs. As for mental gymnastics, unless they win the cup THIS year, the core four era did not work. The core four era expires this year, with the expiration of JTs deal. Different cap structure going forward.
I really hope they DO win - go check my prediction on Wedgies thread. If it happens you can spike all over me. But they haven't won anything yet, so check your cellies for the time being.

My main issue all those years was Dubas. I said over and over that he mismanaged this team. There were a TON of Dubas defenders in here. In this, I have been proven right. He DID mismanage this team. Look at what Tree has been able to do.

But I'm really done with the bickering over all of this. I've taken a step back from this place purposely. I just want to watch the Leafs, and like the way the team is progressing. I said yesterday that Tree has done the unthinkable - he has united the fanbase. I really like the job he did this summer, and I'm more than willing to give him tons of credit for it.

- fifty__missions

How can you say it's too early to tell success of the changes but then also claim Tree has managed the team properly? If he has the same results as Dubas then doesn't it mean he too mismanaged? Or simply 31 teams lose a year and it's easier to say "you suck"?

Marner has been in beast mode and usually does better without Matthews.
I remember so many thinking matthews propped him up.

I hope they keep Marner with JT and put Willy with AM for a while

I'd rather trade Marner for something that will potentially have a great future impact. That's a major hole to fill as awesome as crosby would be. wing quality goes down big. i think we need crosby to add to this core. Marner wants to be in his home city with his buddy's he will want to stay just have to pay.

Saying that, I'd consider Malkin and Crosby for Marner, Robertson, Kampf, Minten and 50% retained.

My next AI blog:

Beer prices around the league:

Arena Team Price for a 12 oz Beer Price for a 24 oz Beer
Scotiabank Arena Toronto Maple Leafs $12.00 $24.00
Rogers Arena Vancouver Canucks $9.49 $18.99
Prudential Center New Jersey Devils $11.00 $22.00
Honda Center Anaheim Ducks $12.50 $25.00
SAP Center San Jose Sharks $10.00 $20.00
Pepsi Center Colorado Avalanche $7.00 $14.00
Canadian Tire Centre Ottawa Senators $8.00 $16.00
MTS Centre Winnipeg Jets $6.00 $12.00
PNC Arena Carolina Hurricanes $10.00 $20.00
United Center Chicago Blackhawks $11.00 $22.00

These prices are approximate and can vary based on the specific event and location within the arena. It's always a good idea to check the official website of the team or arena for the most accurate pricing.

I have to weigh in on this Wedge. That time when we went to that Buffalo game back in 2014 preseason... I was already half-sloshed and 18,000 sheets to the wind as if you already didn't know because you had to vouch for me after my 2nd intermission smoke because they almost weren't allowed to let me back into the ACC but I had to be all cool and buy a 355ml Canadian just like you even though I didn't need it but was still appalled at the fact that it was sixteen god-damned dollars. I mean, one could simply walk to the beer store like a few blocks away at Rees and Lakeshore and get a 473ml tall boy for only $2.20 at the time. (frank)ing markup.

When is this ever the case?

It has never cost a team a 2nd round pick to retain around 3M in cap at the TDL.

A 3rd round pick at most.

If that 2nd round pick in the ROR trade was for retaining 3.5M they stole him from the Blues.

A general rule seems to be a 4th round pick for salary retention at the TDL. The amount in actual dollars is not significant unless a team is retaining 6-7M in cap.

- Santo_44

Every year at the deadline they have a graphic for a breakdown of cost for retention....and no a 4th is not the usual.
I think ive also seen one on puckpedia.

Yes. I was talking expiring contracts.

I was talking Brock Nelson who is a UFA.

The trade with STL was

ROR(50% retained 3.75M)
Acciari

for

1st
2nd
3rd
2 contract throw ins

Wild retained 50% (1.85M) for a 4th round pick

- Santo_44

Incorrect, the wild retained only25% for a 4th
Stl also retained money.

Get 90% buzzed in the parking lot before walking in the gate. Then you can nurse one tallboy for most of the game. Don't forget the edibles. Alcohol prices at sports events are nuts.

I will say again

50%(1.85 M)

4th round pick. And that is from a team that doesn't have any skin in the deal, strictly eating money.

No kidding. Plus that was ten years ago. Even 4 years later, Janice took me to a game at the new Rogers in Edmonton but ciders were only 12 for a tallboy. Still bad but on the same token, more alcohol for less money 4 years later. (frank) Toronto.

Outrageous prices are the sole reason I don't go to games any more. Without buying merch and with minimal concessions purchases, it still costs north of $250 or $300 for my old lady and I both. Technically I can afford that, but I don't want to and I'd rather watch it on TV and use that cash for something important, like rocks. 🤪

Yeah, and it's still too much. What would that be up there? Upper deck, but not nosebleeds. Tix, parking, gas, tolls, a beer, and a pretzel each. Probably about $300 usd here.
