To get the win they had to play 4 of their D-men 20+ min, including one that just came back from injury. Gran seems solid why did he only get 12 min? Also, Seeler with only 13; he seems to not be getting as many minutes. Is it possible his contract was yet another mistake in a long line of mistakes that has spanned several GMs? - mr4tno
I would look at the shift charts. In the 3rd period, Ristolainen, Sanheim, York and Andrae were playing really well and the Flyers were pressing to get back in the game. If the Flyers had the lead in the 3rd, Seeler would've played more. Game situations. Time place and score |

Friedman reporting CLB looking for a similiar young player back for Jiricek. Would not be surprised if Foerster is involved if a deal gets done. - Trox88
We always see the logic in acquiring young players in need of a change of scenery but my confidence in Briere swinging a deal and getting Jirecek is extremely low |

I think it would take more to get Jiricek than just Foerster and I really don't want to trade Foerster

I agree that Richard should be given a longer look. That said, ND hasn't played in 2 weeks and will not play much unless there is injury. It's time for the haters to get past ND. - Don Nachbaur
He is a wasted roster spot. |

Typical get off of my lawn Canadians. Steve Kouleus is the worst of the bunch! Of course, they would ignore the Russian. Some things will never change. There's still some folks up there that think the Flyers are still the Broad Street Bullies. Nothing against Canadians in general. Been there many times and folks are cool. - Phillywhiteout
Yes. I’m Canadian and I deal with that all the time. A lot of supposed hockey fans up here couldn’t name one flyer and think it’s still the bsb. Most of them are blind leafs fans that don’t really follow the league just the leafs. |

It doesn't matter what those guys say. It's November. As long as he doesn't fall off a cliff, he is going to be in the running for the Calder

I want the young players playing, including Frost. Keeping him up gives Tortorella another option and reason to scratch a young player. - MJL

My point it’s an idiotic homer take. How does the guy get awarded rookie of the month but not make any of the top three named? Just shows you the level of bias |

Yes, which is why I said it doesn't matter what those guys say. It doesn't make sense to say a player leading all rookies in scoring is not a current favorite for the Calder.

Frost is a much better player than Poehling is. - MJL
and yet RP was drafted ahead of him.
some folks hate Torts so much they are willing to "fall in love with players" like Frost just to be a contrarian.

Did Frost play?
He had a nice defensive play, but any line with him centering it seemed to go nowhere.
Three lines with him
w Farabee & TK, 4:07, xGF 22.51%
w Michkov & Tippett 3:03, xGF 0.00%
w Michkov & Foerster, 3:55, xGF 0.00% |

I believe that Frost needs to and can play with more intensity. I don't think it's because he has a natural lack of compete. I think it's because of the environment that this coach has created for him. Even when he has played well, this coach has sat him or taken away ice time or benched him in games. He's tentative because he's trying to avoid mistakes. Stopped attempting higher risk plays that a playmaker like him can make. Knowing that one poor play will see him back in the press box again. Couple that with being on an expiring contract. Reality is sinking in that Tortorella has created another situation where a player asset is devalued and the most likely course is that a change of scenery needs to happen at this point. It's not going to happen here for this player under this coach. The question then becomes which player will take his place and fill the insatiable need this coach has to need a whipping boy. Like a toddler needs a teddy bear. - MJL
The idea that Torts dislikes Frost isn't based in reality.
Torts has repeatedly praised Frost for improving defensively.
Torts is frustrated with Frost b/c he can't translate his skill in production, he doesn't have the motor of TK or the killer instinct of Michkov. I don't know if it's simply a matter of being a half second slow ("almost making plays") or just not wired that way.
I wonder how Briere views Frost. Briere was smaller than Frost but with a similar skill set, took him to age 24 to win a starting job (in a time where it was much tougher for smaller forwards) - so is he patient with a potential late bloomer or does he see a player who lacks the intangibles that made Briere a top NHL player? |

Drysdale
boom - THE BLACK HAND
Unfortunately no, everything I have read suggests young fwd. They will also trade Provy as a rental so probably get draft capital in return. I mentioned Foerster because he is going to be an RFA this summer coming off a good rookie season. He has shown potential as a two way fwd and won't cost that much to re sign in the summer on a bridge deal. For the Flyers, Jiricek is the long term replacement for Risto in the top 4- ideally better. Still would be plenty of room for Bonk in the top 6 long term.

That is false. Tortorella has treated Frost differently than any other player. Tortorella is not genuine or truthful in his comments. He is manipulative. He has criticized Frost far more than he has praised him. Focus on what Tortorella actually does, not what he says. That is the actual reality.

Frost has absolutely translated his skill into production. He has led the Flyers in scoring over significant periods of time as a Flyer. He is just inconsistent. Same as Konecny was when developing. Frost's lack of compete or lack of a killer instinct or whatever you want to call it. Is not inherent in the player. It is a product of how the coach has handled him and the environment that has been created here by Tortorella.

I don't know but it is becoming more clearer to me that it is not going to happen for Frost here under this coach. Bill Meltzer had posted a number of times that he talked to scouts that said they think Frost can develop but it won't happen here. That was a significant period of time ago. That is coming to the forefront. I hope for Frost's sake, that he is traded to get away from Tortorella. He is a horrendous player development coach. |

i wonder if Frost+ gets you Jiricek or if they'd want someone younger. more likely we'd have to part with someone like forester or brink in that scenario - and a Frost trade brings back a similar reclamation project.
other predictions:
i do not see them trading laughton ever.
brink is the new whipping boy but will actually have big games after being sat

I wanted to draft Jiricek. We got Cutter which begot Drysdale and a 2nd....i still would rather have drafted Jiricek
i also think that the Ducks 2nd is more valuable than Drysdale at this point.....cant make this poop up |

Though take your pick who comes out as many have underperformed.
Would also save a a few hundred K on the cap by waiving ND I believe. |

You’re in the Frost isn’t very good camp. Yet you want him as the centerpiece to a deal for a former 6th overall 2 years ago. Better be a big plus. |
