Rick Tocchet confirms that Brock Boeser will play tonight vs Bruins. Max Sasson is the forward coming out for Canucks.
Tocchet said Sasson was tough decision, doesn’t “deserve” to come out. Coach said he told Sasson to stay ready, could play tomorrow in Pittsburgh. |

Who's Brock gonna play with? Heinan - Blueger - Boeser? |

How about that Vancouver BC boy Macklin Celebrini, damn that boy is good at hockey! |

Interesting to see how Boeser fairs playing with Hienan and Bluegar. That line has scored. Can he be a difference maker or will he disappear like JL did without high talent centers? |

Wonder what happens first: the immanent trade of Jiricek, that is not to the Canucks; or, Demko’s game time decision to start?

From Imac:
“First and foremost, I'm very proud of J.T. seeking help,” general manager Patrik Allvin said Monday. “I don't know if he said it, but I believe that he's going to be a better person, better teammate and better hockey player when he returns. And we sure miss him; he's such an impactful hockey player. I think we have and the league has all the right support to help him.”
Allvin’s comment, during an interview with Sportsnet about the Canucks’ opening quarter, are the first public remarks from management since the team announced Miller’s leave last Wednesday.
It also offers some clarity about the nature of the player’s absence, that the 31-year-old centre is seeking help for himself.
Despite managing an undisclosed upper-body injury that had persisted since training camp began in September, Miller had 16 points in the first 17 games playing mostly on a line with Boeser, who suffered a concussion in Los Angeles on Nov. 7. Miller left the team five games later.
“Listen, I miss the guy,” coach Rick Tocchet said after the Canucks’ optional skate here Tuesday morning. “But obviously there are things that are more important than hockey. He's a huge part of our team, and when a guy like that is not there, you notice.”

Still no clarity on what the issue is, but it really doesn't matter so long as he can get himself right. - NorthNuck
Agreed. No sense in speculating really, just hope he recovers and helps the team make a push for the playoffs.
It'll be interesting to see how the manage Demko's time when he comes back as well.
I'd guess they slowly ease him back in.

Lankinen is playing well enough that there shouldn't be any panic. It'll be nice to see him in the net again |

Agreed, was hoping it would be in Boston for sentimental reasons but I would hope it is on this road trip. |

Personally I kind of hoped he wouldn't play till the new year. With the injury history and mysteriousness of this one, plus Lankinen playing so well ... I dunno I think I'll be holding my breath every side-to-side play. Starting to get Cory Schneider vibes. I hope he can stay healthy for a bit, but they should work on re-upping Lankinen just in case at least for another year or two. At best he steps in if Demko reaggravates, and at worst it's a very capable back-up while Silovs continues to develop as #1 in abby. |

He did say in that interview last week that they nailed down exactly what the issue is and they have been working to directly address it, and the treatment has been working. That inspires some confidence he'll be okay imo |

Definitely one way to look at it.
I think this recovery has gone on long enough. He has been training hard, is getting plenty of side to side workouts. There is no possibility that the doctors or coaches and trainers would put him in a situation where he isn’t ready.

It's going to be very interesting to see how much he is able to play, he's eligible for a contract extension as of July 1st |

Agreed. We're lucky Lankinen held it together and now we have a Vezina candidate wanting his net back.
The Schneider vibe thing is a bit over the top though. Schneider played 410 career regular season games with 2.43 gaa and .918 sv% A pretty tidy career by any standard.
By comparison Demko sits at 219 gp and a 2.79 gaa and a .912 sv% |

Yeah no doubt, I'm no doc ... just a superstitious canucks fan who has grown accustomed to whatever can go wrong, will for this franchise haha. I hope he comes back strong but they don't push too many starts on him. He was playing some of the best goaltending I've ever seen for this team not long before injury. They seemed to be playing a whole different style before and after he went down in the playoffs. |

I just meant in the way that once injuries hit he never really was able to come back same way. I certainly hope not of course. Just can't forget he's not far removed from missing 30+ games a couple years ago with another lower body injury. |
