Stamkos and Giroux, both with full NMC, would seemingly make sense as replacements for Kreider. Unlikely for many different reasons but they’re aging superstars on bad teams who still have the goods and can play all 3 forward positions. Giroux makes less than Stamkos and is on the last year of his contract. - picklerick
The rangers had a deal for Giroux 3 years ago to the flyers but he rejected it. I don’t see him accepting a trade now to the rangers |

Touche, but I meant winning it all. It's basically signaling you are punting on the season. |

Giroux's family moved to Ottawa when he was 14 and, I believe, they still live there. I am pretty sure he is genuinely happy to be finishing out his career there, regardless of success. |

Never seen a team try to do a fire sale and win a cup the same year lol - TPC Has happened and succeeded...90-91 Pens. We sent out Cullen, Zalapski, Brown, Tanti, Kyte, Dahlquist, Jim Johnson and a 2nd for Mullen, Gordie Roberts, Hrdina, Murphy, Taglianetti, Scott Young, Francis, Ulf and Jennings. In total we traded 2 top 6 F's and half our regular D, and brought in 4 starting F's and 5 full time D. Traded Recchi and Coffey the next season as well.

Krieder to Montreal makes some sense
He's a known commodity to Gorton, and we would provide some veteran leadership to the younger players. It would nearly impossible, but sending Zibanejad along with him would signal a new beginning for the Rangers. |

If they make a trade like is being described we will see an even worse effort out there. I 100% believe this is posturing to get this team to wake the f uck up. Whether it works or not, I have no clue.
Trading Kreider just to do it is beyond f ucking dumb. Trouba isn't going to waive for anyone right now, why would he? He's been pretty clear on that front.
Besides, what would a Kreider trade even bring back? Not a chance they are a better team after it. |

A Kreider trade makes more sense in the offseason when teams have cap space and roster space to acquire him. If the rangers trade him now they are most likely taking back a bad contract. It doesn’t make much sense mid season

Bolded addressed in order they were written:
that says more about the remaining players than it does about management(I hate having to defend management over players but this is all hypothetical). If there’s a way to improve the team especially given the context you do it
Besides sentimental reasons, what’s the reason for not trading him if you can get a player who, idk does anything for us 5v5
Kreider probably has more value in a trade than he does on our team. Even if he brought back nothing besides cap space it would be a win. He’s just not present. He’s not the biggest issue but he would appear to be the most tradable problem outside of lindgren, who would give even less of a return
All of this is to say, not exploring all options is the real dumb thing. Keep kreider? Ok, fine. What do we do? This team doesn’t win a cup even if they want to and they sure don’t seem like they want to. So what happens? More posturing to try and elicit some fire from the team that no longer exists? |

I'll add this: I have spoken to two sources who added that the #NYR are motivated in their efforts to make a trade sooner than later - and, yes, Kreider and Trouba are the two names at the top of the for-sale list.
Whether they can pull it off is TBD. - jimbo83
This is 100% a ploy by Drury to get this group motivated. No way are they trading Kreider. Can’t see it happening. This was very calculated on his part no doubt in my mind. Could be a genius move or be more detrimental to the psyche of this group. In all seriousness they are too comfortable as a group. I have said it numerous times but this team is absolutely complacent and cocky too. They think they can come out with a D+ performance and still find a way to win. It’s not acceptable nor is it going to be successful. Last season is over and done with. They need to stop feeling bad for themselves and get their shyt together. Defensively this is the worst I have seen this team play in years. It takes a certain type of dedication to play below the dots and win battles. How many times this season have we seen them stick check or not get in front of shots. It’s complete BS. Players in that lockerroom don’t want to play the right way and are upset about business decisions that were tried to be made in the offseason, grow the f*ck up. Play better if you don’t like it. |

This attitude you speak of is nothing new. This a core group that has had 4 head coaches in 5 years. They’re a flawed group who blames everyone else for their issues but themselves. No amount of hand ringing or foot stomping is going to change the way they play.

Jimmy idk if you are going to agree with me but I don’t think trading a player is going to make the difference. If they are going to shake it up then do it tenfold. Move Lindgren, Trouba, Kreider, put Mika on waivers and send him down to the AHL, look to get as many assets as possible and get ready for the next wave. Might as well trade Panarin too while you’re at it.
I still think this group has what it takes to figure it out. I am not giving up on them but this is 100% more a morale/culture issue than anything else. It’s like they are acting like a bunch of babies who are resentful of their current employer and are going through the motions of putting the work in. Thats the vibe I am getting from this core. The attitude in that lockerroom needs to change and someone needs to step up and be the voice to hold the players accountable. Maybe Trouba has the case of the f*ck it’s since the offseason rumors. |

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Trouba no longer has a NMC, but has a list of 10 teams he can be traded to without approval? |
