I mean NYR is apparently putting Kreider and Trouba on the block. I could see them easily taking a cap hit like EK if they unload Trouba in a deal. Especially if a 3rd team retained some cap space for EK.
Graves is an impossible contract, but at times this season I feel he has looked better. Gryz is a lost cause and I agree needs to be sent to WBS. - 123Kid
I cant see the Rangers ever wanting EK. I'd way rather have Trouba and his cap hit over EK and his.

TIOPS reporting besides the players and teams listed above. We have been scouting NYR (K’Andre Miller listed as potential target). They also list Philadelphia as another team we have scouted for talent.
Reports that the current goal of Dubas is to remake our defense. - 123Kid
My report is that we only need to remake the defense, forwards, goalies and coaching staff.
The irony is when you take a step back and look at the roster, almost all of the guys I'd want to keep and build around were here before Dubas. Sid, Malkin, Rust, Rackell, Letang, Pettersson, Blomqvist... I've come to like Accari and I like Beauvillier so it's not all bad. At the top of my list of guys to get rid of its Karlsson, Jarry, Graves, Hayes, Gryzlek... All guys he chose to allocate resources to. |

I don't care if they are a bit over the hill, I'd take both Trouba and Kreider in a heartbeat. I can't imagine they'd have a ton of interest in Karlsson given they have Fox but as you said, I think any trade with Karlsson involves a 3rd team. |

As much as I've been poopting on Dubas, I'm actually excited to see what Tomasino can do on the wing with Geno. I don't expect a ton from him but he sounds pretty excited to be here and he does have a pretty decent shot. |

Oof. Trouba is brutal lol I’d much rather have EK at 11m over Trouba at 8m at least EK is sometimes good at a hockey. Trouba sucks. |

I'm assuming any move is about cap savings or asset accumulation. Getting EK off the books would be a great start. Trouba with only one year left and EK with two at 10. I'd do that deal in a second.
Somebody mentioned earlier about having another bad year next year and possibly setting up a solid team for the last two years of Sid. That might work if things fall perfectly. Like adding a Marner and a couple other good players.

Actually, sorry, it's 10m, not 11m.
Trouba at 1.5 years at 8m
EK at 2.5 years at 10m
I guess if the goal is to suck for 2 more years, then yeah that trade should be made -- Trouba will definitely help the Pens suck ass.

Future goalies looks good. I still believe in St Ivany. Pickering looks to be solid so far. Brunike on the horizon. The D prospect pool is decent. Forward is where we really need help. And getting a coach interested in developing young players would be a bonus.

The opportunity to be really bad should be embraced. Finishing just outside the playoffs is the worst thing thing they can do the next couple of years.

Agreed we have some really nice prospects coming. Its a shame that Brunicke got injured, he was having a solid season and lined up for a spot on the Canadian WJC team. I really hope we can get one of Mailloux or Jiricek to add to the depth...
I was hopeful that Howe would take a step forward but he has not been super hot since Bedard came to the NHL. He just got traded to Calgary (WHL) so maybe that sparks something. |

I think with all this talk about us getting young Defensemen. Especially RHD. It makes me wonder if they are really going to shop EK and Karlsson. |

Trouba has a 15-team no-trade list; good chance the Pens are on that, and he wouldn't waive to come to us. I would think we could just retain on EK and find a better deal. |

They should definitely shop EK, but not sure we should be shopping Karlsson yet... |

A lot of teams looking for deals. Ottawa apparently may make Norris and Chabot available in search of a Defenseman. I do feel Karlsson would definitely want to go back home to Ottawa. Next few months could be very interesting

Some of the names out there are pretty surprising. Chabot was being floated last year I thought but figured he would be staying put when they traded Chuchryn away for peanuts. Maybe not surprising though, as his cap hit is high at $8M and his actual salary over the balance of his contract is very high at $10M for the next handful of seasons. Ottawa isnt a rich team and they are not being helped by the weak CAD. With his buddy Alfredsson as team president and his roots there, I do think Karlsson back to Ottawa is something that should happen. Maybe we take Chabot and send them our other swede Pettersson in a deal?
Kreider on the block is very surprising to me. Having an off year, but thats the guy you want for a playoff run. Even if we arent competing, Id love having him on Sids LW.
If I recall the whole Trouba situation from back in the Jets days, he specifically wanted New York because his wife is a Doctor there or something. He only has so much say in where he goes but if he were to be traded, Pittsburgh probably wouldnt be a bad spot for him personally. Its always a catch 22 trading for a guy who doesn't want to be traded. |

I would compare it to a parking cone that’s there you have to skate around to a parking cone that isn’t there you don’t have to skate around. Unless your heads down, then the parking cone will murder you with a perfectly clean hit. EK is actually pretty decent at playing on the defensive side of the puck 1-1 or 2-1, it’s just he’s usually not there. |

Zero chance the Rangers take EK. Why in the world would they add a guy who cant play defense. He would bring nothing that they need. |

They arent trading Kreider....thats a fake rumor. Only player from Pens the Rangers would have any interest in is Crosby and that isnt happening.. |

Gryz and Graves both out late on the morning skate. Looks like both will be scratched tonight. Doesn't Sully know he needs these guys in to help Dubas's plan to tank? |

Well that was a nice change of pace. Too bad that Highlander wouldn’t go with Accairi. Karlson even used his skill to a net positive for once. |
