A guy I lived with in school actually did buy them (and claimed the exact same thing - too many, on their way to a club to install them). Came home and thought he had gotten some amazing deals.

I worked in clubs when I was in school (and was quite familiar with the sounds systems they used). It took me all of 3 seconds to look at them, and know that there are no speakers that anyone is going to hook up in a night club, that takes speaker wires as an input. I started laughing. He was pissed off.

I've had close family member's who've been in the Military for Generations, starting as far back as 1899, when one volunteered and participated in The South African or Second Boer War, another participated in WW1, another participated in WW2, another participated in the Korean War and another in the Iraq war (he's a Marine in the US).

Myself, I lived in Germany in the 60's and 70's, as part of Canada's NATO commitment. Every year there was an NATO Military competition known as Prix Leclerc, that pitted all NATO partners against each other in various military disciplines ........ and for the Seven years I was there, the Canadians won the competition every year.

Also every year there were "maneuvers" held over a period of weeks, code named "reforger" which where actual War games, usually every other NATO country together, vs the Americans (who had that largest contingent) and the NATO Countries would also always win vs the Americans.

The Canadian Military is respected around the world, and the fact that you're totally ignorant about it is typical those living in the Center of the Universe who only see them as help when you can't shovel your own freaking snow.

While I'll agree that you probably don't join the army because you're a well adjusted person with great career prospects... I also wouldn't paint a whole group with one brush.

My objection with the military is at an institutional level more than anything. Armies and their use have historically caused a lot more problems than they've solved. They've become somewhat of a necessary evil. Not having a military invites attack - but on the flip side, politicians tend to find ways to use the army, to justify having it.

On the other hand, fighter jets, tanks, and all that stuff look (frank)ing cool.
