Yes, but Leaf fans don't care about this Stanley Cup. They want the odds on future years.

no, I'll enjoy watching Pittsburgh or Washington win a cup. the cup matters. he'll it's all that matters.

that's why we are so enthused about this team. it's clear to everyone that the Leafs could take one home in the next few years. I realize that's hard for a senaturds fan to understand.

OK thinking of going to Ottawa the long weekend. I don't remember much about the city.

What hotel should I stay at, be good if we were within walking distance to some stuff.

What might interest a 10 year old ... war museum? National Gallery? Museum of History? Parliament?

Probably arrive on Saturday and leave on Monday so would only have to time do a couple things, and general sightseeing.

War museum is really great. I think the best. But it portrays war in a very grisly way. Maybe too dark for an impressionable 10 year old. Mrs. Spatso says too dark but I think it would be okay. Tour of Parliament is deadly boring, just did it a few years ago with some American friends. Museum of Civilization is very kid friendly, the display on native culture has to be one of the best in the world. Museum of nature has a great reputation, lots of school kids do the tour. I have not seen it.

Best adventure event is whitewater rafting and camping on the Ottawa river (2 hour drive). Not sure what the age and height restrictions are in regard to children (it appears to be over 5 yrs of age and 50 lbs.). But the ride is wild beyond belief and better than any theme park event by a long, long way. There are different companies offering packages,

I would think so. It is for a 10 year old. But the class IV definition is still very strong

"Intense, powerful but predictable rapids requiring precise boat handling in turbulent water. Depending on the character of the river, it may feature large, unavoidable waves and holes or constricted passages demanding fast maneuvers under pressure. A fast, reliable eddy turn may be needed to initiate maneuvers, scout rapids, or rest. Rapids may require “must make” moves above dangerous hazards. Scouting may be necessary the first time down. Risk of injury to swimmers is moderate to high, and water conditions may make self-rescue difficult. Group assistance for rescue is often essential but requires practiced skills. For kayakers, a strong roll is highly recommended. Rapids that are at the lower or upper end of this difficulty range are designated Class IV- or Class IV+ respectively."

Excellent thanks! I was hoping to bypass parliament. I would love the war museum. When we adopted my son, our second trip to Russia occurred during their victory day celevration so we go to see parades of all the old Russian military stuff, it was very cool. Maybe I'll ditch the wife and kid to see the war museum myself!!

The Children's Museum would be your best bet, for a 10 year old. It is combined with The History Museum...... so there may be a reduced admission if you see both on the same visit.

Don't know what your price point might be, but looks like anything downtown is pretty expensive ........... so perhaps something close to the BRT system might be an option.

Like all the times Dopps pointed out how great it is to be in Ottawa, because you're so close to Montreal... and the costco across the river sells beer!

Yeah, cheaper beer just across the river .......... but today the 50 is closed due to flooding, so can't get to the Costco, so might have to go to Rapido.

From all accounts, from those who use it regularly, it's fast, and cheaper than parking downtown if you can find a spot.

I use it whenever I go downtown for various events.

You may find a better priced (than downtown) hotel, that's close to the BRT, and I think there are "full day passes" that you can buy.

The DayPass allows unlimited travel all day, making it a great low-cost way for tourists, residents, and entire families to see the city. The whole family travels with one DayPass on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays. The DayPass must be bought on the day of travel directly from the bus driver or the O-Train ticket vending machine using your PRESTO e-Purse balance or exact change.

Perhaps a toronto transit (Presto Card) pass will also work in Ottawa???
