Obviously you don't know much about marketing and even less about sports management.

Ottawa (melnyk) is clearly following the pathway set out by the Oilers for getting a new stadium. People wonder how Ottawa was in the top ten of ticket sales dor years and years. Sometimes they were top five in sales. In the last couple of years there has been this precipitous drop off. Even Leaf and Canadiens games no longer attract plus 20,500. There is a purpose behind this calculated madness.

Why would people support the building of a new downtown stadium if they remained top 10 in attendance?

The size of the ACC in terms of seating capacity has much more to do with the amount of Land attached to Union Station that was purchased from Canada Post. If a 30000 seat arena was built anywhere in the GTA it would sell out without an issue. There are no unsold Leafs or Habs tickets - Sens simply do not sell all their tickets unless the Leafs or Habs are in town.

As to my knowledge of Marketing and Sports Management - it is limited to an undergrad and a graduate degree. Based on the limited intellectual value of your comments about the Leafs - I will take any personal slight on my knowledge or intelligence as a compliment.

This is the field I work in. Some truth in the statement. Actually, the more I think of it the better I like the analogy.

I understand it is hard to be Leaf fan living in Eastern Ontario. No doubt you have experienced some of the animosity. You probably wonder why Sens fans respond so well to the Canadiens but are so hostile to the Leafs. After a bunch of years I just got tired of all the Leaf lies and hype.

Since you have such strong qualifications perhaps you can explain to us why the NHL will avoid the downturn in support being experienced at all levels of the NFL. The appetite of younger sports fans is rapidly changing and it is safe to assume smaller markets will see that change first.

Everyone is hyped over Nashville and the way they have sold the Preds as almost a pure entertainment event.

the nfl's problem is on a a macro level. their product isn't very good.

the nhl has problems with individual franchises. e.g. the sens product isn't very good.

Though the reality of drug addiction does work differently. You could have chosen any team, your road to rehabilitation didn't have to be this difficult. Drug addicts rarely are that lucky.

I lost my interest in both NFL and boxing several years ago. I do not have alot of insight about NFL attendance.
NHL could rightfully be gaining popularity in the USA. It would make sense, as it is can be an exciting sport - we'll see in LV. I do not believe arena size has anything to do with attendance.

From personal experience and this is only my opinion the sport itself is flawed - way too much violence and unsavory would be heros. One of the greatest stars of the NFL (OJ) is a disgrace to humanity - Think of NHL stars - are there any comparables? Gretzky, Howe, Orr are all squeaky clean good guys - now think of NFL stars. In addition, I can not get excited about a sport where hurting or maming the best player (usually the quarterback of the opposition) is something to cheer for as a fan. For this and other reasons my sports-time budget does not include NFL, not even the superbowl.

Luck has limited providential influences. Aquinas taught that outcomes are primarily influenced by habit and the presence or absence of skill. Luck is best understood as acts of random chance subject to rules of statistical probability.

On the bright side I think most non-mutants would've understood the usage as intended.

That is not entirely true. In business practice, there are many major influences that will lead to success. It is a point of discussion whether there are 7 or 8 key ways in which a business can be profitable, but it is generally agreed upon that serendipity is a universally accepted means to success.

Yes, of course. But if your wandering through life's chances including business opportunities, the person with skill is more likely to realize on their luck.

The stock market is the world's largest casino. Everyone has access to the same cards. But guys who know how to play the game will always do better than the guys who guess and believe that luck will enable them to win.

Maybe because turd like yourself continually bring up 1967 like the fans have any control over anything

Its tiresome.. and weak
I mean especially from Fans of teams that have never won

you talk like Fans have made the roster moves the past 50 years and are directly responsible for the failures

the fans who have stuck around are commendable.. the ones who jumped ship are embarrassing

The average NFL player lives 10 years less than the average person. So enrollment in football is on the down swing.

There are many more criminals among the NFL player base.

I never implied that Luck should be relied upon. It is a factor. Bryan Berard was a gifted, skilled hockey player. He was unlucky because of a careless dirty play by Hossa ended his career. Hossa was a very lucky hockey player. He did not get a lifetime suspension and signed a 12 year $64 million contract with the Hawks and won 3 cups. In addition, he gets to collect the rest of his pay claiming he has severe diaper rash and will be drinking Martinis in Turks and Caicos for the rest of his days.

Yes, I spent many years as a Leaf fan. I have known the depths of despair. My life changed for the better when I came out of the closet and began cheering for the Sens.

Since it's an "and" and not "to", I'm guessing that was a tough year for you to be openly gay and openly a Sens fan.

Your butt-hurted-ness makes sense now. Sorry, my sympathies.....and that's not for being gay.

Unfortunately as much as we, as a society, strive for inclusion and acceptance, there is still a stigma there. People are treated like freaks, like a aberrations of nature. They are different in a way that most people find appalling, or sickening. Being gay is probably also difficult.
