I think we should of picked MPS hands down even though he is a huge Defensive D.. |

Cowen is perfect for the Sens.
Cowen-Karlsson combo should be amazing in 2-3 years |

Agreed--great pick--should always pick the best player available regardless of position. None of the first round picks other than Tavares and Hedman are ready to play in the NHL next year anyways. |

Another reason why he was a good pick up is that Toronto didn't get him. |

NorthEast will be scary in a few years.
Boston have Zdeno Chara, Buffalo have Tyler Myers, Ottawa have Jared Cowen... Toronto have Luke Schenn even thought I don't think he's in the same boat. Let's hope that Ryan McDonagh will be as solid as those guys if Montreal wants to compete. I hope they don't plan relying on PK Subban |

I'm surprised he dropped down to #9. He has everything that they miss from Chara. He and Karlson are our next Chara-Redden. |

Don't forget the Sabres have Zach Kassian. And Schenn is in the same boat |

even though you're probably just baiting... In a few years, Luke will far and away be the best player on that list... he's already #2 |

I think Cowen will be good, but you've gotta be worried about that knee... Burke seemed to hint that if the Leaf's staff felt it wouldn't impede his development, that he'd grab him at 7... seeing as that didn't happen... I'd be concerned. |

schenn has to be a lot better if he wants to be better then Chara. Cowen was supposed to battle hedman for top D in the draft until his knee busted. If his knee holds up he will be in the class of chara i would like to think. |

schenn will be a better shutdown guy, and probably a better hitter, but everything else will go to cowens favor |

I'm somewhat glad the Sens didn't get Kadri. Some of the stuff that was being said on his inconsistency of effort from game to game made me think that the Sens don't need any more players like that.
One of the things that the Sens definitely have is one of the best Sports Medicine groups in the league. They looked the kid over before the draft and I have no doubt that they'll get Cowen in perfect health before they let him anywhere near the ice.
I'm also extremely encourage by all of the good things being said about Silfverberg and Lehner. These two could end up being the real gems of this draft. |

Cowen's going to be a beast. I was kind of hoping Toronto would get him. Schenn+Cowen might have been overkill.. but that's a good kind of overkill. |

I don;t know what to make of Kadri... amazing numbers, supposedly very good defensively, but then you hear some people say he's lazy, inconsistent, and soft... and others, like his coaches, saying he's a strong-willed leader who raises his level in big games and doesn't shy away from the physical aspect of things |

that's why I said in a few years, Chara will be on the decline
Last year was the year of the defenseman, and Schenn was in that top group of elite guys... most GMs and scouts didn't include Cowen in the top list now at the end of this year...
And that knee is a concern... I remember reading an article were Burke was hinting he would take him if the Leafs staff felt his knee wasn't going to affect his future as an NHLer |

I'm not worried about his knee. His injury is no different than the dozens suffered by NHL players. Receiving NHL physiowill regain his strength in no time. |

NHL-quality physio will not gurantee against future injury/stability. Those who have had major knee recontructions (and ACL/MCL is way worse than ACL alone) would know that strength aside, their knees will never be the same again from a stability stand point. If the concern with Antropov's knees are so popular, why wouldn't this guys? |
