Oh you guys (leaf fans) were all over the +/- stat when you were all trying to portray Karlsson as a terrible defensive player, but now that he's a plus 8 of the season, then all of a sudden it's a stat that "nobody cares about" because superstar Kessel is practically the poster boy for it. - Doppleganger
Kessel was +24 his last season in Boston. It's a team stat.
they should just get rid of plus minus. - senstroll
There's a reason they keep using it, otherwise how would we know that some arm chair leaf GMs would not trade Robidas straight up for the most offensive Defenseman in the in the NHL because Robidas is a plus 8 and the most offensive Defenseman in the league is a plus 7.

Because you said Robidas was better. We've been over this.

I think you have to appreciate the leafs have finally done a 180 and hired some people who take a different approach. Listening to Dubas speak compared to what Poulin and Loiselle said last year is very refreshing.
Because you said Robidas was better. We've been over this. - Feeling Glucky?
What a warped memory, I asked you if you, as leaf GM would trade Robidas straight up for Karlsson, and you said no.
Let me take the time to congratulate your leafs for stealing a point from the Sens last Saturday...............truly a great accomplishment for the leafs, and I see that single point as the reason the Sens will, as I've predicted all season, will not make the playoffs.

Bragging rights for you. - Doppleganger
I said you wouldn't do the trade, from a Leafs perspective. Based on your history of player evaluations.

Again this only happened in your mind.
Right here in in B&W I asked if you, as leaf gm would do the trade, and you said now, as you believed Robidas is the better player, you words, on the record for all to read.
There is no Dman in the leafs system that comes close to Karlsson as a player, for what he brings to the team overall.

Well except for Robidas in your mind. - Doppleganger
And I answered, based on your logic, the answer was no.
According to your player evaluation methodology, you would not do that deal from the Leafs side. We've been over this. For anyone stupid enough to want to go back and read it, it's there in black and white.

I encourage it.
Please tell me the names of every defenceman on the leafs roster, that YOU would not trade straight up for Karlsson, if YOU were GM, and Ottawa would take back enough of Karlssons' Salary to make the trade even up contract cost wise. - Doppleganger
I wouldn't use your player evaluations though. I'd probably hire someone who knew hockey. Or throw darts at a board.
Or blindfold myself and draw names out of a hat.
Any one of those would work better, really. - Feeling Glucky?
Well you you did when I asked .....

thank your fellow leaf fan, who is trying to spin two separate posts into something I never asked him............ classic SD move. - Doppleganger
But if you weren't just trolling with those posts, why wouldn't the same logic still apply? Why just pick and choose when you think players should be judged on only one stat?

You're the only one here that advocates judging players on only one stat.
Many times I've pointed to numerous stats to show that player "A" is a better overall player than player "B".
Bad news is the leafs won and are back to 5 points up on Edmonton and only 3 behind Carolina (1 game in hand)
Good news is NJ got a point so the worst the leafs can finish is drafting 5th
Also the leafs need to keep Kadri and Gardiner for the rebuild..add Rielly and they are fun to watch - senstroll
or 6th, if someone behind you wins the lottery
also, ISS just released their 1 April rankings, and Crouse is now ahead of Marner.........he's gonna look good next to gauthier on the marlies 3rd line for the next 6 years.

right I meant finish if the 5th spot...
I trust the leafs now to be able to pick the best player... I doubt they end up with Crouse...but I am not a scout
