.......................................Kessel is the eighth highest-paid forward in hockey and yet is 89th in even-strength scoring among forwards in the NHL. Maybe anyone can have a bad year, and this is certainly one, although Kessel’s career has been something of a straight line prior to this season. But the odour of this dreadful season, from his lack of conditioning, his disdain for coaching, his unwillingness to accept ownership of any difficulty, his part in Salutegate, his tone-deaf ways trump any singular scoring skill that makes him unique.
The leafs must break up the core of this hockey club: That is now obvious. And unless somehow they win the draft lottery and the Connor McDavid presence changes everything, Kessel must be moved..............................................

(frank) off with steve simmons.. he is a (frank)ing clown troll - senstroll
Funny how every sportswriter that has not drank the blue kool - aid and pumps out nothing but sunshine and lollipop stories about the leafs is, (in your words) a fucking clown troll.
If he was writing a story about another team, especially one you dislike as much as the playoff bound Senators, you would be telling us he should be winning a Pulitzer for a column like this one on the leafs.

i dont personally care how any single player did statistically this season. the entire team failed and essentially everyone had career worst seasons. - daeth

Reality sucks eh? - Doppleganger
you are a twit
I read and follow PPP who have been the biggest critics of the Leafs the past 10 years.
they have some great writers.. who crap on the leafs when its deserved.
Steve Simmons is one of the worst..if not the worst
I was worried about that..but I dont see that happening though.
Shanny will be given enough time to see his plan out. - senstroll
Burke tried to "jump start" his re-build / retool or whatever he was calling it, when he essentially traded Seguin and Hamilton for Kessel. He saw a short cut and he took it.
I hope for most leaf fans, that Shanahan does not, or does not allow whomever the GM is, to be tempted with a similar situation.
