Meh if we were to get lucky, and say one of the two promising centers we drafted in White or Brown .Develop into what is projected for them, then we may be closer to contender sooner.A front line center that can push Turris down in the number 2 slot .Makes us a very dangerous team my friend - top shelf 15
Leafs would have been a very dangerous team had they acquired a top line center to go with Kessel.
Not many available. |

the sens rebuild started in 2011..they are primed and ready to soar to the middle of the NHL..maybe a few spots higher - senstroll
Yes, that's about right, when they started their re-build, but they did suffer a set back when Spezza asked for a trade, and that obviously extended the timeline for the re-build. Is it back on track as originally intended? Probably not, but I expect to see improvements this season, and the pace of improvement will accelerate in the following two seasons.

Neither Brown nor White project into a top 10 NHL centre. You need something like that, plus another top winger, and potentially DMan too, to become a contender.
White or Brown meeting projections does not make you a contender. I doubt White AND Brown exceeding expectations actually does it. - prock Funny i could have sworn i said first line center

Bingo ,never said there was .You have to draft and develop those.Which we are trying to do ,Zibby wasnt going to push Turris down ,so we move on.Add another Turris level guy ,and try to win with depth in the secondary scoring department.Kinda like the Rag,s at forward

Yes, which you said "brings them closer to a contender".
Not really by much. They would still lack the first line centre they need to be a contender.

Great.
Again, look at the cup winning teams from the past decade. Neither of those prospects have the potential, even at their ceiling, to fit in that group.
Am I being clear yet? |

Some things, you just don't need special powers to see. I don't need a time machine to tell me that Justin Trudeau won't give up on being Prime Minister to play hockey and become a number 1 centre. Some things, they're just obvious.
Although, with the talent the Sens have at centre, Justin could give it a shot, admittedly. |

I wonder what Getzlaf was projected to be hummm,Datsuk???Zetterberg??White was tracking towards a top 10 pick maybe higher before he was stricken with mono,he is and was also considered to be one of the best players in the NCAA as a freshman .Him breaking his wrist late saw his numbers drop .But still placed over a PPG .Brown is a late bloomer who after a slow start really turned it on in the second half ,and has lots of skill an speed to go along with his huge 6.6 215 pound frame . |

Good luck with that. - prock Just like when you claimed that Hoffman was a nothing prospect
Or maybe the one where you convinced us that Stone couldnt skate and wont make the nhl . YouR insight has proven most valuable, now iam starting to think they will both be studs. As most of what you have said about our better prospects in year,s past have proven to be the exact opposite |

Source?
I said he wasn't, 3 or 4 years ago, and may never be. Never said he would never be. He is now.
And it's true. Habs fans were claiming he was elite 4 or 5 years ago. Blatantly false. |

Like hell he has. His only season prior to 13/14 that was above average was 10/11. The rest were average, with several below average.

oh for christ sake, that's so unbelievably lazy.
If you're going to play that game, and that's what you're going by.
You said 5-6 years he's been elite. And that his collective stats since 2010 support that.
From the 10/11 season to the 12/13 season, he was
8th in wins
28th in wins as a % of starts (with games played over 50)
15th in sv% (GP over 50)
6th in SO (16th as a % of starts)
18th in GAA.
You're going to tell me he was elite in that timeframe, according to your criteria?
Don't be an idiot.
