the sens gave up a lot of goals last season ..have the sens done anything to improve that? Or is it just hope Anderson is back to .940? - senstroll
Brought in a new Coaching staff, established a defensive system.
Dropped Goals against from 247 (2015-16) to 210 this season
Increased points form 85 (2015-16) to 98 this season
Anderson only played 40 games, and posted a .926 Sv%
Managed to get Home Ice Advantage for the first round of playoffs.
the leafs deserve credit for finishing 30th last season, and making the playoffs this season............. don't like their chances of going deep in playoffs, but neither Ontario based teams were expected to make the playoffs this season, when the 2016-17 season started ............ so let's agree the both teams are now hoping for the best, because if we're going to be honest, no one is going to bet a lot of money on either team to advance past the Eastern Conference finals. |

There's no comparison to warrant one, The Senators have only been back in the NHL for 25 years now, and have yet to have extended playoff droughts and the inability to at least make it to the Finals, when compared to the leafs ...................but no one is stopping you from creating one.
Good luck vs the Capitals ............ don't understand how the leafs could blow a 2 goal lead and surrender a shorthanded GWG against a team with nothing to gain in the playoff seeding in addition to sitting a good chunk of their starters, including their starting goaltender.

Pretty easy when you're also missing your starting goalie, and two d-men have been knocked out of the game. Not to mention the other team didn't want to go into the playoffs on a 7 game losing streak - they were pretty riled up.
How'd the Sens do against a team with nothing on the line?
And I agree that there's no comparison between the Leafs and the Sens at this point in time, which is why I suggest closing this thread, and focusing on the Sens agony.
Cheap owner, no future, and an imminent collapse to the bottom of the standings.
Not gonna go over well for you guys. |

Funny how you're whining about injured leaf players, and missing your starting goaltender ............... every time anyone pointed out injured Senators and missing their starting goaltender, you were one of the first to call that "Senator fans whining" ....... but it's okay for leafs fans eh!
What a hypocrite.
BTW, are you one the the leaf fans that counted your chickens before they hatched, and are now trying to unload your Sens vs Bruins first round playoff tickets, because you thought there was no way the leafs could blow a 2 nothing lead, and were destined to face the Senators in the first round???

I think there's a bit of a difference between playing with 6 d-men, and playing with 4.. don't you?
I only brought up the goalie because you mentioned the other team was playing their's.
Nice try though.
Oh and no, I didn't buy any playoff tickets. But seeing Ottawa get beaten up in their own building wouldn't be too bad if I had one of those.

i love how he points out leafs fans buying tickets in case the leafs played the sens.
It should be embarassing to the sens that they were even available. Leaf fans jump at the opportunity to see the team. sens fans can't even sell out playoff tickets.
I didn't buy tickets to the sens first round either. I figured they'd still be available on game day if I chose to go.

I was tempted to buy tickets right after the Pens game myself.
its not about thinking the leafs would automatically beat the CBJ, it was to save some money, I kept an eye on them and they were creeping up.
I held off and it worked out, but if they did end up playing the Sens it would have cost me a lot more.
the sad part is if Fans wont we able to get thier money back and take a loss.. Sens playoffs are so lame if thats the case |

Dropped to being a bottom 10 team in scoring.
Now what are they doing to do to address the lack of scoring talent on the team?

Won six more games than the season before.
did not make playoffs last season, this season made the playoffs with Home ice advantage first round.
Finished with 19th best record (.518) last season, This season, the 12th best record (.598)
Only won 26 games in regulation last season, 24th best, This season won 34 games in regulation 13th best in league.
So I guess if you have to score more goals, that the other team, to win games........ and the Sens won more games than the previous season, and more in regulation ... then I guess they've scored enough goals, and were able to defend well enough to win low scoring games.......... kinda like most games in the playoffs tend to be. |

I guess when you've tried everything to ridiculously spin some sort of negative in your mind, where there can be no way the Senators can ever be better than the leafs.......... and fail, you have nothing left to divert from the reality at hand, you make a lame joke.
the facts just don't lie.
Sens finished higher in the Standings, with a better record.
You can use whatever excuse you want, and we've heard them all, but at the end of the day, the Senators finished 5th in the Conference, and the leafs 8th on the strength of loser points acquired in losses in OT and Shootouts losses.
The leafs finished one point ahead of two teams that had MORE wins than than the loser points leader leafs. |

You can fixate on the Standings and the Huge 3 point gap that the Sens had on the Leafs. Its weird how you dont even get how the Leafs were a few shootouts away from being ahead of the Sens.
the Important stats that actually tell you how good your team is favour the Leafs. the standings and points and point % are pretty bad at doing that.
Good team end up leading games and have positive goal differentials, the Sens are the worst team in the Playoffs in both regards
Pay attention to those things they matter

15 of the Top 16 teams in time spent leading made the playoffs this year. Islanders (9th) missed, Senators (17th) made it despite.

Regulation goal difference with the goalies in, excluding penalty shots, 2016-17.

the sens are at the bottom of playoff teams in the important stuff. |
