Roger..........please, the leafs are 29th overall, and will not be making the playoffs............ergo they are out of the playoff race.

You have got to stop looking at the points, and realize there are to many teams ahead of the leafs, (for them to pass) who will also be acquiring points between now and the end of the season...........the leafs will be having their team Golf tournament Sunday Morning April the 11th. - Doppleganger
check again, they're 28th, and a win could put them in a 3-way tie for 26th.
the question still stands though, why do you care so much about the Leafs? |

Actually they would likely be in 27th because of the tiebreakers. That's one of the biggest obstacles that the Leafs likely couldn't overcome. They have barely any wins so if it came down to a tiebreaker for 8th spot, which it very well could, they would lose. |

the present is that Dustin Penner has 1 goal and 3 points in his last 10 games. - prock
The present is also that Phil Kessel has 3 goals and 3 points in his last 10 games. Your move. |

3 points is 3 points. so penner isnt a one trick pony like kessel, cant hold that against him |

I'm okay with that. I'd say it's a little more excusable out of a 21 year old still developing than a player still in his prime. This is par for the course out of Penner. |

Ha. Yeah, Penner is a 2 trick pony.
Trick 1 - lazily float from the high slot to the low slot
Trick 2 - lazily float from the low slot to the high slot |

He wouldn't be anywhere close to our best forward. He'd be behind Kessel, Hagman, potentially even Stajan. He might be our highest scoring guy over the first 15 games of the season, but that is all. Kessel is WAY better already, AND has miles better potential. Hagman is a great goal scorer, and plays a great two way game. He scores at roughly the same pace (don't quote the year's statistics, since you should be starting to figure out Penner's start was an anomaly), but is 1,000,000 times better defensively. Even Stajan scores the same, but plays a more complete game. If only he weren't a wuss, I'd say he's better for sure.
Pull your head out of the statistics for one minute. Penner is a lazy POS. He scored a pile of points in the first 15 or so games, and is back at his 50 point pace. - prock
You say Penner had a hot start and is tailing off. Isn't that exactly what happened to Kessel?

until you break that tie, it is a 3-way tie for 26th |

Are you retarded? The tie is broken with different tie-breaking stats. Games played, wins, goals for, etc. |

Do you need the concept of time explained to you?
My post was @ 5:56 PM ET, the they were 29th at that time.............and right now they are 27th in points percentage...........because this represents the truer standings when the involved teams have played a different number of games. |

The difference is, jackazz Gretzky was running around saying Penner will be a point per game player. I told him in at least about 200 posts, no, he won't. He's bet me that Penner reaches either 35 goals, or 70 points. I made this bet with him when Penner had about 20 points in 12 games or something like that. I told him to expect about 60 to 65 points, marginally more than normal because of his hot start, and he'd go right back to normal.
I never made any posts about expecting Kessel to score 50 goals, or stupid things like that. If he scores 30 this year, that's massively successful as far as I'm concerned, given that he's on a new team, coming off injuries, and not playing a full season. 25 goals is, and always has been, more realistic.
Just as I said, Penner = poop. Going right back to his old 50 point self. From November on, that's roughly the pace he's been on.
He's junk. A lazy POS. And he's been that way his entire career, less the first 15 or whatever games of the season. |

you say he went on a 15 game tear, yet we are 42 games in, and he is still on place for 40 goals and almost 80 points..... ill stand by my bet. i dont for a second think i will be far off.

Ha. Not at the time it wasn't. But if his second goal in 10 games really makes you feel better about your 27 year old, overpriced lazy POS, all the power to you. - prock
even before he scored he had more points than kessel in his last 10.
kessel has 2 points in his last 10
penner has more goals than that in his last 10..
hmmm its starting to not even be debatable how much better penner is. although i do think kessel will be good if you guys ever sign a top line player.
edited: sorry kessel is on pace for 49 points in 70 games. |

You're really quite thick.
At the beginning of the night, when the statement was made, Kessel had 3 goals in his last 10. Penner had 1 goal, 2 assists. Are you trying to add mathematically challenged to your list?
Yeah, Penner is great. Roughly the same player as Alex Ponikarovski. Just paid more. And fatter and lazier. |

what his pace from November to present. Yes, it's a 15 game tear, nothing more. |

what changed between 5:56pm and 6:33pm? The Leafs where 28th when you posted, and when I posted, and are now 27th.

2 points in his last 10 AND A MINUS 9.
