Wow... man... how bad is this team, really!? probably one of the worst Leafs team ever. |

Only problem is his question was asked with the intention of getting under the skin of Leafs fans. There was nothing philosophical about that. - daeth
You are right if you mean that the question was directed at Leaf fans who have buried their heads in the sand in the belief that all this shall pass and tomorrow the Leafs will contend for a playoff spot. I am most angry at the naive supporters who quietly went along with the insanity of trading two number one picks for a gifted but fragile player. Why did not more people stand up and say to Burke, "this is crazy. We have seen and done that all before."
I am fed up with the lemmings who drink the kool aid and come on here and try and justify the insanity. Those of you who jumped on board and cheered the truculence crap bear some responsibility for this deep hole. What are we supposed to do now? Many of you who were the leading cheerleaders for Burke's hot air bluster will now begin to attack him. When you do, ask yourself why you did not say anything a month ago. At least have the decency to admit your mistake in believing in the flim flam this guy is trying to sell.

The sad part is that with Schenn and Kahdri there was real hope that the team was finally heading in the right direction. A few top drafts and the Leafs would be ready to take a run at being serious contenders.

The Leafs are cursed. It figures the last two years they were supposed to be the worst team in hockey but finished out of the top 5, but this year, when they were suppose to be better, they'd really tank it. No NHL team has worse luck.
Yeah, the team isn't that talented, but you add some bad breaks and players putting in a poor effort night in and night out and you've got a horrible start like this one.
The Monster getting injured really sucked. I loved the way he played against Ottawa. |

you overachieved last season. - gretzky
I think that's b.s. They finished 23rd overall with the worst goaltending. They had to have some talent somewhere. |

I think going into the season people overrated the leafs. Looking at the lineup i think they over achieved to score what they did last year and I can't see them scoring like that this year. They added some good defensemen but also lost Kubina. Would you say Kubina is better than Komi and Beauchimin? Their goaltending struggled and they added the monster but he is not proven and you have no idea how he will play.

How pitiful!
The Montreal Canadiens lose their best dman and best player for 4 months during game 1 of the season and lose another big part of their defense for 2 months on game 2 but no other NHL team has worse luck than the Leafs.
You are so biased it's not even funny anymore.
The Leafs suck and it has nothing to do with luck. |

A few months ago, he would have said Kubina is so much better than both Komisarek and Beauchemin but now that they're with the Leafs... I bet ya it's another story. |

Go back over the history of the Leafs and habs and tell me who's had the worst breaks.
You seem to think i'm saying they've had bad luck, which explains their poor record, which in fact I did not.
I'm just saying it's typical that when they were suppose to be the worst team in hockey and had their first rounders, they did much better. And now, they don't have them, and they're doing worse than expected. |

Kubina is better than either, but I believe Komi+Beauchemin gives them better depth. I'm not backing down from my earlier belief. Thus far i've been proven wrong but the season is still young. And at least i'm not changing my opinion.

shoulda just waived Finger and Van Ryn...
Kaberle Komi
Kubina Beauchemin
Schenn White
(and then kept Stralman)
Stralman Oreskovic
Rosehill(really a d-man playing forward)
that woulda looked better, no? |

What does the "PAST" say about when toronto traded a 1st Round Pick in 1991 to the New Jersey Devils for Tom Kurvers????
Hint that first round pick has a few Stanley Cup Championship rings on his fingers, and is still playing in the NHL. |

on paper they have the 10th best offense from last season and a much improved defense.
on paper, this is near a playoff team, on ice, not so much, not yet at least... but it's early in the season, and it's clear the players aren't used to each other yet. - Feeling Glucky?

Sorry, but on paper they have the worst goals allowed per game in the NHL, the lowest Points Percentage in the league............while paying for the highest paid defensive corp in the league. |

That defense looks much better but you still have Toskala and and unproven Gustavsson in net |

which is why they made moves to improve the defense, and got Gustavsson for net.
They will get it together. |

yea, because a guy who scored 36 goals as a 21 year old, and was on pace for over 40 is the same as Kurvers
but hey, I guess that means Cowan is gonna suck, since Ottawa drafted Daigle |
