Toronto should be in the Grigorenko/Galchenyuk range... they are 2 points out of 26th with no wins in sight - senstroll
If Toronto finishes in the 6/7 overall range and the Oilers finish at 2/3 would any Leaf fans be interested in sending Schenn our way to swap picks? We would likely even have to send something else your way but as the basis for the trade.
Most scouts say there is a significant talent drop off after Yakupv/Grig and another marginal one after Galchenyuk (although Galchenyuk is more of a wildcard due to injury this year). Drafting at 2/3 would ensure you guys finally land a prospect worthy of being a top line C for you guys. From what I understand Grigorenko is close to NHL ready and a very good set up guy with some size. Sounds like a good fit in between Lupul and Kessel IMO.
Oil are stacked up front but could always use more D men and it would allow us to draft a D man in that 6/7 range which seems like a few decent ones can drop to there.
Might be a good deal for both sides. |

Wrong a 22 year old center that was a team need for a tallented but unproven pmd i do that deal again and again. What kind of time was Rundblad ever going to see with EK being here??? - top shelf 15
wrong in your opinion
And its irrelevant what playing time he gets, and pretty silly... Pittsburgh didnt trade Malkin because they already have Crosby. Rundblad taking tips from the highest scoring D in the league is probably a good thing.. Then move him for something significant when hes matured and the Sens are ready to challenge for the Cup

Oh, I would say Turris has done a good job of proving what kind of hockey player he is. |

Wait so trading a from a position of strength, to adress an area of weakness. Is wrong We traded a 21 year old prospect pmd for a 22 year old prospect forward.Still dont get the issue here, but i expect nothing but white noise from you anyhow concerning anything that has to do with ottawa |

You seem to really miss the point here...
These people are not hoping for the Leafs to purposely fail in order to get a pick like you seem to think teams should do..
OBVIOUSLY if we are not going to make the playoffs, fans want us to draft first overall... That is a given, yet something that you cant seem to wrap your head around.. - mfreedman
Can you say this again. I am missing the hard point here. I was not even pushing a "fail" agenda. If the Leafs stay at this current pace they can get #5. My comment was more general. As the pick improves, whatever it is, there will be a bunch of Leaf fans who want to include it in an offer for Nash. Need to resist this appeal.

I don't understand why there is not more love for Turris. He has been very effective. Ask Bruin fans about their thoughts on Turris. He is not finishing but nobody seems to doubt that the kid is a talent. |

I just dont see the value they got in their "Rebuild".. for him. Just never been a fan of Turris... Joe Corvo agrees
Whether you or dppplleginger think DR is good or not, he is a highly rated prospect

I think I can explain. As long as you talk about Turris you are not talking about Karlsson, Spezza, Alfredsen or the Senators pushing the Bruins for first in the Northeast. And, more important, we are not talking about the collapse of the Leafs. |

Ottawa only comes close to the division lead when they play 4 or 5 more games than Boston.. Let Boston catchup before you say they are close. They could be 9 points behind

We will see. Ottawa has been playing far better than Boston since about the half way point of the season.

This would be a great deal. I don't know if the leafs would do it, but if they grab Grigs or Galchenyk and we grab Schenn and Rhinehart, it seems like a good move to me.

By my perspective, both prospects were pretty comparably rated at the time of the trade. And it seemed to me and others at the time of the trade that Rundblad and a 2nd could have fetched more than Turris. Glad he's working out though. |

The trade for nash was not what I was referencing.. What I am referencing is that you seem to think that from the beginning of the season, we needed a top 5 pick, and we should have focussed on getting it rather than trying to win |

Yes, this is true. It was not my intention to imply that you were a conspirator in that goal. I was talking only of the reality of the moment. The Leafs are going to get a good pick. I am looking for support to guard against trading away the pick.
I would support dealing the pick if there was an opportunity to move up in the draft. |

No. The teams would be good trading partners, but trading Schenn to move up a few spots isn't happening.

I agree it wouldnt happen, I dont think Burke would do it.
But for instance if we had #7 and Edm. was #2...
I would swap
#7 and Schenn for #2 and some other Mid level prospect or player.
We need to draft an impact Center and now... its become very apparent we can not sign or trade for one. Burke has to make that happen if we want to dream of a competitive team in the the next 3 years
And then make a move for another Goalie |
