You guys have to realize how clueless Paul is, he likes to throw his 2 cents in but his background knowledge on most situations is usually 0. |

It was easily predictable too. Weak skater. Below par skating is a very difficult thing to overcome in the NHL. In my opinion, and I've said this since before he was even drafted, Duchene is, and always will be, the better player. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player... But he'll never make it into the NHL elite, in my opinion. He'll be your 80 point guy, 90 at most in a couple of his seasons, his entire career. - prock
And getting 80 to 90 points mostly every season isn't considered elite? |

I said an 80 point guy. 90 at most in a couple of seasons. Meaning most years in and around 80 points, maybe in a career year or two he gets 90. Unless a guy contributes a lot more than just points, I don't consider a guy scoring around 80 points "elite". Definitely not. Like I said, good player, not elite. Would you consider Corey Perry or Paul Stastny elite? Jeff Carter? |

No, but in 1100+ games between the three, theirs only one 80 point season.
Those are 70 - 80 point guys |

Ill add too, NYI is like edmonton. They need to draft extremely well to be and stay competitive because players just simply dont want to sign there. NYI hasnt drafted well enough to have the star players needed for them to be a consistent playoff team. - sens rock
Players don't want to play here, because we suck. Players weren't exactly flocking to the Caps before they got Ovechkin, and I bet any player in the league would be happy to play there now. A lot of it has to do with how competitive these teams are. Players don't like to lose. If the Oilers/Islanders start to win, they will have no problem attracting players. |

Stastny has one 78 point season, one injury shortened season where he put up 71 points, on pace for 90 points, another season with 79 points, now on pace for about 75. He may never have actually put up 80 points, but that's basically an 80 point player. Carter has only had a few seasons since breaking out, but he still looks to have become an 80 point guy. Perry almost hit it last year (and the year before if he'd played a full season), will likely hit it this year. Hasn't scored as little as 70 since he was 22.
I was trying to pick from younger guys to make it reasonably comparable. The point being, there are typically about 20 players that put up in the region of 80 points and up in the NHL every year. These aren't guys that are setting themselves apart, and as far as I'm concerned, not elite. A guy like Marleau has scored near a point per game in most of his last 4 or 5 seasons. Is Marc Savard an elite player?
I just don't see an 80 point guy as "elite". |

nobody good will sign to a team that finishes last and has trouble seating 10 000 fans in the league like the islanders. Ottawa is having bad crowds this year and were still seating 17000-18000 instead of the 20 000 we are used to having.
Your only chance is to have really really good drafting where you pick up stars and i just dont see it from what you have drafted so far. the only UFAS that the islanders will attract are the 2nd or 3rd liners that will want to be way overpaid.
there is a reason they are known as the joke of the nhl. |

after reading all the posts, you are the troll. At no point does he attack a poster he is stating the truth that the islanders are pathetic, and you are attacking him personally.
He is a douchebag for stating that the islanders suck? What team have you been watching for the past decade LOL, because the islanders are the laughing stock of the NHL just like the clippers are the laughing stock of the NBA. And it is true, as the islanders were voted by far as the least desired team players would never want to play for. |

You have no idea what you are talking about. Try going back and re-reading the posts and then get back to me. The question I asked had nothing to do with his statement about the isles being pathetic. So before you come in here trying to save the day for your buddy get a clue you facking clown!! |

Unsusported claims from Paul:
hell find a way to screw it all up like he does every year
his drafting sucks
Garth snow drafts like sh*t and then when they get older he trades them for more picks,
nobody good will sign to a team that finishes last and has trouble seating 10 000 fans in the league like the islanders

Tavares 20 yrs old- Already making an impact
Hamonic 19 yrs old- Playing against the other teams top line every night and holding his own and then some
Nino 18 yrs old- playing in juniors and just a baby with huge upside
Poulin 20 yr old - Goalie playing up here due to injuries less then a year away from juniors and off to very good start and another player with huge upside
Bailey 21 yrs old- The only prospect who is behind the 8ball and needs improve
Okposo 22 yrs old- Missed most of the year but has the potential to score 25-30 goals a year and is a beast in every zone.
Petrov 22 yrs old- should be over from russia within a year or so. first rd talent taken in the 3rd rd because of his contract in russia
Kabonov 18 yrs old- Another 1st rd talent taken in the 3rd rd. Question marks about his maturity but loaded with talent.
I can 3 or 4 more of their prospects that have a big upside. I just don't understand how anybody who follows hockey can say that their prospect pool is weak???? It's mind boggling. I'm pretty sure if it wasn't the Islanders you would be singing a different tune about these kids. That's cool though we're use to it by now. - Vukota
That theory worked for Pitt. Suck for a decade, pay your guys with food stamps, and then reload with high picks.....and then they got lucky on top of that and won the Crosby lottery.
The Islanders will not improve until they get rid of that owner.
BTW, Milbury killed the team by trading away gold for garbage over and over again. |
