Are you going to play the same childish game as prock and ignore the injuries last season in the AHL and ignore the fact that Hodgon cannot steal Kesler and H. Sedins position to get ice time in the NHL? It doesnt make Pock look very smart....but he's comfortable with that image. Use your brain...
Kadri wouldnt have got a single game as a Canuck prospect last season. If Hodgson was a Leaf he would have probably played a full season... |

No. He wouldn't have. The Leafs needed a centre for their top 2 lines. They needed offense. the Leafs had not only one centre in the AHL providing more offense, but five (if you include Colborne, towards the end of the year, and Hodgman).
So, yeah.... Hodgson would have been the SIXTH centre in line for callups. Maybe fifth... He'd be roughly in the same spot as Christian Hanson.... Except, christian Hanson offers a little more size and strength. And durability.
Jeez, you guys use this injury excuse for him a lot. You've been using it for a couple of years now.
He would have been closer to playing in the ECHL than the NHL if he were in the Leafs system. He may have actually been on the Reading Royals. |

No I am not goign to ignore the injuries, but he still has proven less than Kadri... I never said Kadri was a stud, but automatically saying he is better than Kadri, even though he has less points and was injured is just stupid... Its like an oilers fan saying that Hemsky is a top 20 player int he league if he just wasnt injured.. stupid argument because he is injured
Kadri played all of his time on the 3rd line of toronto... Who were his linemates? Bozak, a player who had the worst season of his career last year and was only trying to fix his defensive game, providing little to no offensive flare... As well as Armstrong, and incredibly gifted agitator who is very defensively responsible, while providing minimal offensive contributions... And yet Kadri still got as many points as he did
Now.. Maybe Hodgson turns out better, MAYBE
Don't use injuries as an excuse because he already has back problems, and that doesnt normally fare well for young players... who would I rather havbe right now? Kadri... Who would 99% of the league rather have right now? Kadri
Its not because he is an allstar, it is because he is currently BETTER than Hodgson |

I don't have much to say this year. They've changed their tune from "Cody Hodgson is the best prospect on the planet OMG OMG OMG he is a lock for the Calder this year" to "maybe if he stays healthy he tops out at Daymond Langkow". I got laughed at when I said I wouldn't even think of trading Kadri for Hodgson. The guy isn't that good, has accomplished less at an older age and draft class, and has back problems (which is brutal for a bad skater to begin with). Hey Nucks fans.... vindication feels good.
Now, instead of preaching how great they are, you get comments like "well, everyone says our prospects suck... I don't think they TOTALLY suck, they're underrated, and just suck a little".
No one here proclaiming the greatness of Canucks prospects. I think they've learned their lesson. My job here is done. - prock
Hey don't paint us all with the same brush. I've always maintained Hodgson's ceiling was a Drury like ability.

These guys compare his last season with serious injuries and an impossible NHL line up for him to crack as all the proof thats needed....and claiming Kadri has accomplished more?
Cody Hodgson

WJC Silver
OHL 2nd AllStar
OHL 92 G 166 A -(p/s) 27 G 49 A
AHL 17 G 24 A
NHL 3 G 9 A
Kadri has done nothing outside of a great playoff run in the OHL where he won a championship. He has accomplished nothing but a Silver medal outside of that and he has yet to see a pro playoff game yet where CH has been to the finals in both. I like our prospect much better even tho I wish he could skate like Kadri. That and the injury question are whats keeping him from being a super star imo. Kadri is a selfish punk who will see many more suspensions in his career. He has locker room cancer written all over him.... Hodgson has been voted most mature, leadership, professional etc by OHL coaches in his days in that league. I know those things mean little to a leafs fan....which explains alot.

i love the kadri hodgson pissing match
the 100% truth is both have been disappointing, and this is a very big training camp for each player. They are both real young and not every kid can come into the league and be an impact player the 2nd year in. Some players take time
sure kadri is younger, but he still has to show some sort of improvement from last year so only time will tell who is better
so this pissing match is kinda pointless |

Yet you can count on Prock being here every year spewing his crap....and sticking his foot in his mouth like he did with his constant persistance that the Canucks will never make it out of the second round. How many times have the Leafs been to the finals since the Canucks came into the league? |

I don't recall saying they would never make it out of the second round. I said they wouldn't win the cup. I said there were several teams I thought had a better chance.
The Sedins, Luongo.... These are not guys that make up the core of a team that wins the cup. That's my opinion, and I don't think the Canucks ever will with those guys as the core. |

because he's waiting to be good in the NHL. duh.
Hodgson plays better with good players, see Tavares and Duchesne. He makes them better, they make him better. In the AHL he doesn't have players like that, once he gets to play with top end players in the NHL not named Glass or Oreskovich, he will light the world on fire. |

WAY to early to be making judgement calls on Hodgson, Kadri or any other player who has yet to play a full NHL season. There's a blog on how Seguin was a disappointment.. really? c'mon. Unless you're 12 years old and just started watching the NHL or have head trauma memory loss, many players take a while to develop. People wrote the Sedins off and they're back to back Art ross, MVP-Pearson winners. |

Healthy Hodgson looms large in Canucks’ plans
By Tony Gallagher, Postmedia News
VANCOUVER — It makes sense to suggest the Vancouver Canucks will get off to a slower than normal start this NHL season, given their long run to the Stanley Cup final last spring and injuries to the likes of Ryan Kesler, Mason Raymond, Mikael Samuelsson and Manny Malhotra, which may not allow them to begin the season in perfect shape.
When you throw in the fact star goalie Roberto Luongo traditionally plays poorly in October and coach Alain Vigneault’s teams never get out of the gate in a hurry it all makes sense, particularly with other teams gunning for them now that they’re defending Western Conference champions.
But they are going to have some help on the way from within. It’s not all being left up to some wild card prayers like Marco Sturm or an aging Owen Nolan. The real help is most likely to come from Cody Hodgson, who for the first time in three years is finally having a prolonged stretch to train without having to worry about rehab concerns of any kind.
As the Canucks went through the playoffs, Hodgson was marginalized as he rarely played. When he did, he was thrust into a fourth-line role, which he accepted and did the best he could.
The experience of being shunted aside when the games were most important didn’t deter this kid, but rather seemed to have strengthened his resolve. His attitude remains upbeat, knowing he’ll be given a decent chance this season to land a spot in the top six forwards out of the gate.
“This is the first summer in three years when Cody has been healthy and able to train,” says his Edmonton-based agent, Ritch Winter. “He’s a little bit behind the curve with his play because he’s had these injury problems but his attitude is great, he’s probably as strong as he’s ever been in his life and he’s looking forward to this season.”
Hodgson has been training with former NHLer Gary Roberts, much the same as he did last year, and he’s also had something of a boost from former Conn Smythe trophy winner Claude Lemieux, who works with some of Winter’s clients on the mental side of the game. Lemieux, a neighbour of Wayne Gretzky for years down in California, has learned a lot over the years and looks to pass on that knowledge to younger players who have gone through some adversity.
Hodgson didn’t return calls Tuesday so he couldn’t describe what the two have been working on, but it’s clear from discussions with Winter that any animosity or bad feeling that may ever have existed between the old Hodgson camp and the Canucks management and/or coaching staff is very much a thing of the past. When you think about it cynically, it could have gone the other way. Hodgson might have been sour at the treatment he’d received down the stretch last season and perhaps even reached the point where he might have asked to be traded.
This is not the case. Winter was extremely upbeat about both his client and the Canucks organization, so evidently all the right things have been said by the right people on both sides and it’s now simply a matter of how the player performs and in what capacity that takes place.
The timing of having a healthy, hungry Hodgson arrive couldn’t be better if it comes to pass, as the Canucks will be looking for something to kick start them through the early stages of the season. If the goal in Vancouver is to emulate the consistency of the Detroit Red Wings organization, getting off to an early lead and running away from the rest of the weaker division every year is something Detroit perfected over the years. It put the Wings in position for a potential run at a Cup every season and allowed them to rest players down the stretch, rather than playing people like Kesler 23 minutes on some nights in the second half of the season as was the case last year.
When the puck drops for real in early October, the Canucks will be looking for a catalyst to get them rolling toward a playoff spot and into position for another kick at the big prize.
By all accounts, Hodgson expects to be helpful in that role.

When he wast injured he was the Moose' best forward...but he started the season recovering from injury...then had a pretty serious mid season injury and once he had recovered from that, he was in the NHL for the rest of the year. CH may have rode the pine for much of the playoffs but Im sure the experience was much more usefull than the early golfing season provided Kadri.
You really shouldnt expose your ignorance so often in one thread. In year four of your obesession you should at least be up to date with whats going on.
