You're trying to change the subject. Why would Hodgson be considered when he's 5th in scoring, and behind the 4 kids in front of him in virtually every known other category (short of Nugent Hopkins, who will likely outscore him by a wide margin, assuming he returns)? Why would he be remotely considered when he's contributed so much less, overall, then several other rookies? Why would he even be in the discussion?

Answer - he shouldn't be. 35 point rookie forwards who do not contribute to the team in other ways aren't remotely close to being in Calder discussions.

You realize that the season still has 6 weeks? Cody already went on a 5 week stretch where he outproduced all these players you are talking about... 35 points today....but who knows what happens? Just look what happened with RNH....and he may be out again right away. He needs another year in a boys league or that shoulder may be a career problem.

If Cody has 35 points at the end of the season still(if he stays healthy), I'll put any Avatar of your choosing that wont get me banned up for a whole year.

Idiot.

Hahahahaha, Great, I love that you're now reduced to this.

So, in the next 6 weeks, you think he's suddenly going to score a bunch of points, AND establish himself as a prime player outside of scoring.

Good luck.

No chance.

What's to troll about? Good trade for the Canucks. They gave up a depth guy, for another depth guy, who at least adds a bit of physicality, which the Canucks need. Kassian may turn into a second line guy, that can pot 15 or 20 goals, if you're lucky. The talk of mini-Lucic is just ridiculous, but I'm not surprised it's being tossed about. He's smaller, not quite the scoring touch, not as mean. But can still be pretty useful. Even if he doesn't turn into a second line guy, he's still the guy you can put on the second line anyway, even if he doesn't contribute like one, just to clear some space.

Here you go...I've already heard them say that Hodgson is instantly their best center.

Yeah, they're excited. We'll see how long that lasts.

I can't imagine you guys will continue to make excuses for him now, and fortunately, he doesn't have any more.

So, Canucks fans will probably tone it down over the next few months, but it won't make you look any less stupid.

I'll still cheer for him. What bothers me about this trade is you could clearly see this kid was going to have the kind of leadership this teams needs. He doesnt dive, yap at the refs, he scores really big goals when the rest of the team doesnt show up. I have often questioned Kesler and Bieksa's leadership and the group as a whole really. The Sedins lead in a different way and I'm satisfied with that... ex captain Luongo is no leader at all imo.

Just a friendly warning Prock... We have a mod who bans for comments like that now^^^^

I could care less but just letting you know.

PS, whats up with your wonder prospect Kadri? He cant even make a team destined for a lottery pick.

That's good. He doesn't seem like a bad person, so go ahead and cheer for him. I have nothing against him as a person, I'm sure he's a good kid. I just think he'll never be a star player. He just doesn't look like he has it in him, in my opinion.

I actually like Pahlsson. But he's pretty old. We'll see if he can play like his days of old. If he can, that might not be true.

It was rumoured Burke inquired about Cody actually. I wonder how our conversations would have looked like in that event? Wouldnt the miles of bandwidth history be totally franked or what? Imagine if Kadri came here?

I think we would all start to agree with everything you had said in the past just to laugh.

Depending on the price, I would be fine with it. I don't look at Kassian all that highly either, although, he's a guy that will serve a purpose in the NHL, no matter what. It's all just a matter of what purpose he serves. I can see him being Cal Clutterbuck, with a little more skill, or maybe more like Hartnell.

Hartnell is one of my favorite players. I'd love for Kassian to work out like that. I don't ee this trade being the right one for this years playoffs though. They could have added muscle in a different move I think. Some beef on Cody's wing would have served better I think, he played well defensively and is only a +2 behind Pahlsson. It would still have left us with a 2nd PP unit. That was a mess last year and here it is again, Raymond centering the 2nd unit.

I don't mind Hartnell. A 20 goalish, 45 to 50 point guy normally (this year is not the norm for him). Sometimes goes over the line a little, but tough to play against, and throws some nice hits. Nothing wrong with that. I think if all works out, that could sound a LOT like Kassian. but I have a tough time seeing him being a 60 or 70 point guy, and I have a tough time seeing him being as nasty as Lucic.

As far as the comments go on how bad the powerplay was last year.... It was better than this year, so I don't know why Canucks fans keep referencing it.

Well I can't speak for them. I was not one of these people. The two or three times I've trolled the leafs threads was in response to your efforts. I got board of it quick. I am a Toronto kid afterall. Didnt move to BC til 88....Canuck fan in 90/91...was neutral and even happy when TO was moved to the east so I could cheer for them in all but a Canuck/Leaf final.

The contant chest beating over cups 45 years ago and beyond eventually turned me off.... I mean, only 1 conference final in 44 years,,, I'm happy that I've been part of two cup runs in my life. If I was a Leafs fan still, I wouldnt be beating my chest about cups in a six team league before I was born.... but thats all I'd have I guess.

It's not really chest beating though. That generally is the response when fans of teams that have none either try to chirp. I'd take 45 years ago, over never.

It also gets overblown, because it's the Leafs. There were two fairly lengthy periods where the Leafs had consistently strong teams.

Well you and I have had the same thing to celebrate in our lives as Leafs fans. 1967. I have missed nothing since changing my team but did gain a couple of SCF... I'll take that over the cups I had as a Leaf fan. I've been on both sides. I will take the success now over something I have to dust off history books to rediscover.

Take care Prock. We are left with more to agree on than disagree on now probably. You'll see I'm not a bandwagon fan at all... I come here to hide from the pantswetters on the blog threads. You can't even voice concerns there or they try and run you out of town.

I'd be thrilled if Kassian was a Clutterbuck or Hartnell , or Neil even . I applaud Gillis for believing that this team is ready to win a cup and he made a move that took some serious sack. Still rather have Hodgson over Kadri

I honestly thought you would start the cheer squad for Hodgson so he could be the one that we traded away.

I'm really happy with this trade. I like what Kassian brings more than what Hodgson brings for our teams current needs. I'm happy for Kassian who gets out of a pretty crappy situation and comes to a team that can really develop his skills. I'm happy for Hodgson who has some room to grow now that he is out of Hank and Kesler's shadow. Everybody wins IMO.

He has a ceiling of a point per game and he has great leadership qualitys.

I don't think thats an unfair statement and I'm sure most Canuck fans agree with that assessment.

He is also going to be way better then kadri
