No that wasn't the case for either player.
What you're probably thinking of is when Grabner was recalled from the Moose while the Canucks were in the post-season. He had played earlier that year during the regular season though. - bureforearthsprez
Ah ok, that must be the case, i wasn't positive in either case |

I can honestly say i have not seen hodgson make one notable mistake all season really. Cant wait to have a healty lineup.
higggins - hodgson - hansen would shread any other third line in the league. - jakenewton

Just saw the Screaming Eagles - Mooseheads game.
David Honzik (71st overall in 2011), who started the previous two years for Victoriaville and has now been relegating to a backup role on a bad Cape Breton team, played a great game against Halifax.
Despite being outshot 31-9 through two periods, Honzik kept the score within 1 for his team, only giving up the go-ahead goal on a defensive breakdown at the end of the second frame. In the third, the Moose added another goal and then an empty netter, but Honzik finished with a respectable 34 saves (.919sv%) while his team floundered around him (they finished with 14 shots).
Part of what made him effective was his massive frame, although the did show good quickness on several wrap-around attempts and a quick glove on a one-timer from the slot.
He looks to be regressing according to stats, but I was impressed tonight. |

I like Tanev. Hodgson looks like his ceiling is Daymond Langkow. Not a bad player, but not the first line talent you were hoping for. Shirokov looks decent, but I think he's a call-up type player and Schroeder looks like a bust. Not the best prospect pool. - Double Dion
This guy was on point though |

It's the finer details that were great though. Saying he liked Tanev.
Not calling Hodgson a bust but not being high on him either, if he didn't (frank) up his back he might've had a Kyle Wellwood type of career so I'll give the guy a pass on that one.
Saying Shirokov was decent, but a call-up player was spot on.
Same with Schroeder being a bust
Prock probably compared Tanev to Holzer or some poop |

I'm guessing you've never played hockey? Your just a typical sports nerd who only looks at stats. I'm embarrassed for you. Hodgson was the best player on the team last season with a weak offensive group. It was his first year back from a year off injury/missed development and his first year playing pro hockey. Let that resonate for a second. The best player in his rookie season. The kid is extremely skilled and his vision is off the charts better than any leaf on the whole team. The only thing holding this kid back from being an NHL superstar is his skating. Eventually the game will slow down for him and he'll get stronger and I dont think itll be that much of a problem. He has intangibles that a leaf fan wouldn't understand. It isn't always about points. I played for a long time and there was a kid by the name of Brandon McMillan who I played with for seven years. He never put up nearly the amount of points as some half the players on my team but he was our best player. He won games for us just by being on the ice and he found his was onto Getzlafs line last year. I think your going to be in for a rude awakening this season. Hodgson future Canucks captain. Kadri future suitcase. - Boinker

funny thread. The early pages were Canucks fans giving me crap about saying Hodgson isn't as good as Kadri.
Yup. Crazy to think Hodgson has been gone from the league for 5 years now. It doesn't seem that long ago.
It seems to me like prospects that get touted for stuff like leadership and character, but don't necessarily have spectacular junior/AHL stats rarely make it. Attitude can be a career breaker, but not a career maker. You need the talent.
Hodgson may have had injuries, but he's a good example. Another one is Curtis Lazar. Both of these guys were appointed their teams future captain by their fans. |

I mean, the guy had some serious medical issues, he dealt with back injuries and eventually had to retire from hockey all together at the age of 26.
Not crazy to assume he would’ve been a pretty decent NHL player if he didn’t have to deal with all of his medical issues.
Out of all the guys we hyped up, bringing him up is probably not the best call. Sure, he wasn’t the franchise number one center the homers thought he’d be, but far from a bust.
Not like Kadri is exactly a number one center either, hell, he might be joining his third team soon since people might get tired of his selfishness/immaturity in the playoffs.
News flash: every fanbase has homers who think every prospect of their team will reach their projected ceiling.

Dude chill.
It was just a comment. It seems to me like a fanbase touting an 18 year olds leadership abilities is probably a sign he isn't talented enough to be a star. Just my take. It seems like if the kid has the talent to be a star, fans will talk about that first.
Hodgson probably could have been a decent player, but it doesn't look to me like he had much more than low 2nd line ceiling.
Kadri is a good player, but yeah, the Leafs moved on from him because he can't keep his head grounded. He seems to try to elevate his game, and it doesn't manifest itself in a good way. If he can ever learn to toe the line, but not go over, he'll be a solid asset, but he's getting up there in age, I wouldn't take that chance, if I were a GM. |

lol I’m chill, just stating that Canuck fans expectations for Hodgson were pretty in line with how most fanbases would probably overrate a prospect with his numbers and scouting profile.
Fans just don’t understand the low hit rate of prospects developing into impact players or even role players. Some fanbases consider the puck to be a bust when a player gets drafted in the late 1st and tops out as an average 2nd pairing dman when in reality that’s a hit. |

yeah, I'm aware most fanbases look at their players and "pencil them in" to future lineups based completely on their celiing.
STill not my point, it's not about overrating or not. I'm just commenting on the idea that when prospects don't have any particular skills that stick out, fans tend to refer to their leadership, which seems to be a kiss of death.
i.e. your leadership skills as an 18/19 year old won't get you to the NHL |
