Ouch. Do you really want these guys (italicized) boosting you out of a lottery pick position when they have no chance in helping the team in a few years when it MIGHT really matter?

We have three veteran forwards and two are basically on the fourth line. The other is our second-line right winger. His leadership isn't replaceable but at this point his production probably is given we have Zibanejad, Silfverberg, Puempel, Noesen, Prince, Stone etc. waiting in the wings.

Two of our top-4 defencemen are 21 and 20 and look like they could form a 25-minute per night mega-pairing in the near future. Karlsson may even one day be as good as Gunnarsson. Admittedly Gonchar and Kuba play a big part on the blue-line but honestly when they split Cowen and Karlsson up it seemed like it was to spread the wealth. At any rate Ottawa will have a tonne of money to use to fill out the top-4 and unless you think Gonchar and Kuba are irreplaceable talents then I think they'll manage,

It's pretty naive to believe that the key elements in the Sens playoff push are the veterans instead of the elite play from Spezza and Karlsson. But it's interesting to hear this faint, faint Gonchar praise after how you talked about his contract.

You're totally right. Having several key players about to retire is a sparkling great thing for an NHL team. Carry on.

I love how Tyler Bozak was better than Daniel Alfredsson last year, and Doppeldouche thinks he's still a good forward.
- prock

He has trouble following simple logic. His twisted logic makes Alfredsson and Michalek top 6 forwards.
- prock

To the original point, it would take an enormous disaster for any team in the NE to finish behind the Sens. Don't stress it, you'll get another good pick.

- prock

Bozak 25 points so far, Alfredsson 35 points so far, so yes I think he's still a good forward.

You seem to have forgotten that Alfredsson was playing injured for much of last year, and then took the last part of the season off before having surgery to repair what was ailing him.

Alfredsson and Michalek are top 6 forwards, just as I said at the beginning of the season.

Also with so many teams (in the Division) behind the Senators at this time, do you still see "enormous disasters" in the making? (I'll concede a disaster in progress in Montreal).

I think if you ask sabres fans they'll consider it a disaster.

Hey, things are drastically different than most expected. Maybe we can get a sens leafs first round matchup.

Yes i agree with you on this one. The "Miller" issue is not looking good.

And I'll repeat what I posted earlier. Neither the leafs or the Sens are going to catch the Bruins, so the leafs and Sens will have to finish 4th and 5th in the Conference for a first round match up.

I think the leafs need to make a trade of some sort, someone to shore up their dismal PK and or maybe address their floundering goal tending.

PK system is looking much better.

It is the dismal defensive 5-on-5 system that I still can't stand. And the guaranteed hearltess play for atleast 10 minutes a game.

Fortunately both can be solved by moving the coach.

BB just extended Wilson, and they seem to be long time Buddies. What would have to happen for him to be sent packing before the end of this season?

And who is available besides Jacques Martin? And is he what the leafs need?

Extended for one year, just so Wilson doesn't have to be concerned with his contract status while he is coaching this season.

Burke stated at the beginning of the year that he expects the team to make te playoffs. As such, I would assume that if they don't make it, Wilson will be gone.

At least I really, really hope that is the case (it would make sense with the one year extension of Wilson)

as maclean and dineen are showing, there are some unknown coaches out there capable of coming in and making a huge impact.

In my opinion, if you are not one of the top 10 coaches in the league, you are expendable.

I would rather give the top AHL coach a shot at the NHL level rather than stick with a guy who is average.

No its not. The sens don't measure up with anyone. They'll be fifth barring a disaster of epic proportions by another team. They're the worst in the division at every position.
- prock

So do you still maintain that the Senators are the worst in the Division at every Position?

I see Ottawa sitting in second within the Division.

Are the three other teams below Ottawa experiencing a "disaster of epic proportions" to use your words??

I see Craig Anderson sitting with 25 wins, first in the Division, and 4th in the NHL.
I see Erik Karlsson sitting with 47 points, first in Division and the NHL for Defense men.

Are the Senators and their players over achieving????? And if so, what does that mean?? Or are all the teams below Ottawa underachieving???? And is so, what does that mean????

Is it perhaps you severely underestimated the effect of Ottawa cleaning house about a year ago, calling up a hand full of players from Binghamton to give them a "jump start" in their collective NHL readiness?? Also, did you underestimate these same players and Cowen's AHL playoff experience and how it may have also benefited them in their development????

Or maybe you subscribe to the stories that the new Coach brought some bottle water from the Detroit municipal water supply and the Senators have been transformed by drinking it???

That's "Wishful sinking" on your part. Let's see how the Mighty leaf do one thier extended road trips west next month. The leafs don't fare that well on the road, when compared to the Senators.

No, I'm not counting. It's not like Sens fans and their Leaf obsession, I don't really care. I just knew they had been losing and sliding lately. Probably 4 tomorrow then. Whatever.

The Sens as a whole are a basement dwelling team that don't measure up to anyone in the division.

You're going to have to set your sites lower and look outside the division. Maybe Florida?

- prock

Oh and the "Slightly worse goaltender" was James Reimer, whose weak glove side has been exposed, and in now done as the starter, as the monster is now starting the bulk of the games lately.

(Fixed to stop prock (http://www.urbandictionar...com/define.php?term=prock) from whining.

Looked fine prior to the concussion. Either way, now Gustavsson looks to be playing just as well. I believe a few times I actually mentioned having several goaltenders as a reason for preferring the Leafs goaltending situation as well, by the way. So eat it.

And the goaltending comment you quoted wasn't me, Senatard. Read much?
