From Leafs third line centre, one Hart trophy ain't too bad, wouldn't you say? |

Kinda of setting the bar low for a stud like that....
Anyway please list the starting Leafs lineup for the 2012/13 NHL season with applicable line combos. Thanks. |

It's a 2 year timeline from here, bud. Wouldn't you be more interested in the 13/14 roster?
First line
Parise - Crosby - Kessel
Lidstrom - Weber
Second line
Does it matter? |

I think it's a pretty good D core (by the personnel they have), and when the goaltending finally stabilizes, and a decent system gets implemented, it'll be decent. |

Probably not. I doubt he comes up with a season as bad as 7 goals again in the near future either. As I said in another thread (or maybe earlier in this one, I don't know), either way, he's good defensively, hits like a freight train, and has a wicked shot. So, he's a decent player that can be used in several roles, so I'm not worried. |

If you could go back in time, would you NOT trade two 1sts and a 2nd for Phil Kessel? |

I wouldn't do it. I said the same at the time though.
It's not as lopsided as some will pretend it is, but not a good trade. |

Exactly what I said at the time(in fact, when it was still just a rumour) is that the problem with it is at that point, even if it works out, and he becomes everything you want him to be, you're trading away a huge part of what is needed to buyild a true contender around him. Its a lose\lose scenario. Burke has done an amazing job building a prospect group without those picks, but it still doesn't compare to the group of youngsters we could have had, obviously. |

Without those picks? 8 or 9. Take a look at the prospect and young player group he inherited, and line it up beside the current group. Night and day. Doing that without those picks is incredible.
Compared to if he HAD kept the picks? Maybe 6 out of 10. |

In your opinion, who are the top five prospects in the Leafs system and how to you see them making an impact in the NHL in the near future? |

In no particular order, Kadri, Colborne, Mckegg, Blacker (prob wouldn't be as high on many other peoples list), and Percy.
Kadri and Colborne could be on the roster next year, probably not a huge impact out of either of them. Role players. Blacker one more year in the AHL. Mckegg and percy in the AHL. Percy needs another year in junior (I think he's still eligible), and a year or two in the A. Very sound dman though.
Brad Ross needs a couple more years at least..
Holzer is apparently looking NHL ready, but will never be an impact player. A stable depth dman at best. A similar story for marcel mueller. Could play a depth role next year, but will never be an impact player.
And that list will be given a huge boost by someone like Galchenyuk or something.
Edit - totally forgot Carter Ashton. |

What do you think is the best way to approach the obvious lack of center depth? Or is that just a myth? |

I think you've got it wrong. There is no lack of depth. There is lots of depth. Its a number one guy they're missing. Grabs is a great number two. Bozak is a solid third liner, could pass as a second in a pinch. But shouldn't be playing first. Connolly similar. Lombardi great depth centre. Obvious injury issues there though. Colborne should be good for a depth role next year. Lots of depth.
If he finds a first line centre somewhere, shift Bozak to third line, then there is connolly, lombardi and Colborne to fill in the rest. More than enough. |
