However, there is no disputing that Toronto has the better AHL team, and therefore the "prospects" in the Leafs system are doing better than the Sens "prospects" at the AHL level. To say otherwise is plain ridiculous.
. - prock
But this is EXACTLY what you said last year at this time.
You totally dismissed the Binghamton Senators Calder Cup Run, and said it had no bearing on the comparison of the two teams (in Ontario) prospect pools, and that toronto had, by far, the better pool of prospects.
The Hockey News recently released its annual edition of Future Watch and graded the Senators an A- with the fifth overall best prospect depth in the NHL. Among their list of the Sens top ten there are five players in the top 100, and three in the top 50.
Just as the leafs best prospects were not in the AHL last season, the Senators best prospects are not in the AHL this season, except for Lehner.

What the troll known as prock (Urban dictionary) stated at this time last year, was that the leafs have a much much better pool of prospects, and that the leafs were by far going to be the better of the two teams in Ontario for the foreseable future.
I pointed out that the success of the Senators AHL (fair number of prospects on it ) team was having in the AHL playoffs might indicate that the difference between the two pools of prospects were not that far apart, as the troll would have us believe.
As it turns out, I was right on the mark, as SEVEN of those AHL prospects made the NHL team this season and are heading into the NHL playoffs.
I stated this becasue I was familiar with the Binghamton team, and had seen a number of these prospects when they were "called up" for various stints last season.
I don't know if seven marlies will make the jump to the NHL for next season, as I don't follow them, just as the troll was not following the Binghamton Senators last year.
So for the troll demanding that I comment on the marlies, as his "proof" that somehow I was off the mask last year, is ridiculous as I don't comment on what I don't know enough about. - Doppleganger

the myth is that Human activity alone is responsible for Global warming. Evidence has shown that the planet has cooled and warmed many times, and CO2 does NOT cause it.

You might want to read a little closer. Doppeldouche CLAIMED they would be second by Hockey News, quoting a radio program that he listens to. I responded saying that's probably just more Ottawa media pumping up the Sens, and it's probably BS, and they will have dropped. He responded saying when it comes out I'll look like an idiot. they were 5th. He looks like an idiot.
The Hockeysfuture ranking is old, and gets redone in a month or so, I believe. They won't be second there either. They'll drop. |

I would suggest that the Leafs AHL team is a reflection on who may have a better group of prospects (at all positions) if you are comparing the two teams in Ontario. |

The link (above) points to an ranking in Nov 2011, so as the Great Troll prock was quick to say it's dated.
But during Team 1200 pre-game show, a sneak peek of the then upcoming Hockey News annual Future Watch issue was discussed and they said it showed Ottawa ranked 2nd in the entire NHL for their crop of prospect and they also had 5 of the top 75 ranked youngsters outside of the NHL.
They were talking about this because Brian Costello from The Hockey News (@bcostellothn) tweeted this about the Senators ranking..........
so the great troll prock can whine and cry and spin all he wants, but this is what was said by an employee of The Hockey News.

As an organization, only the Edmonton Oilers received a higher letter grade (A+), despite the fact that they only have one prospect on the 75 player list. With their A- grade, the Senators tied the Panthers, Avalanche and Ducks but with five players on the list, they also have more quantity than any of these respective teams. For what it's worth, Minnesota led the league with six prospects but for whatever reason, the Wild only received a B+ grade.
Now by no means is this list some authoritative guide nor does it ensure that all of Ottawa's prospects will fulfill their promise. Nevertheless, it's somewhat vindicating to see a third party acknowledge the impressive collection of young talent that Bryan Murray's scouting staff has assembled.
so the great troll prock can whine and cry and spin all he wants, but this is what was said by an employee of The Hockey News.

I repeated what I heard on the Radio, they said Ottawa was ranked second because of the A- rating and having Five of the Top 75 prospects under the age of 21. and to further clarify Ottawa's ranking Brian Costello posted this on a Senator Forum.
Brian Costello from The Hockey News writing this:
Just wanted to clear a few things up. Most importantly, this list isn't determined by the guys in the office here in Toronto. We actually canvass the head scout and/or GM and/or director of player personnel from each of the 30 NHL teams to get each organization's top 10 list. We then get this panel of experts to put together a top 75 list from the list of 300 prospects. Fourteen of the 30 NHL executives participated in this annual study. To me, that's about as authoritative as it gets. I do not purport, like my associates in the office, to be a scout or have any sense of how these young players will mature in the next 5-10 years. That's why we go to the experts -- the NHL scouts paid to monitor their progress. In other words, The Hockey News is the middleman in the relaying of this information.
Also, the team report cards are based on each team's top 10 prospects and 21-and-under NHLers. That's why Edmonton (with the likes of Hall, Eberle, RNH, etc.) finished first and Minnesota (with six top 75 prospects, but just one 21-and-under NHLer) finished 7th. Ottawa, with its strong prospect list and Karlsson and Cowen 21-and-under-NHLers, finished 5th. The grades were also determined by our panel of 14 NHL executives.
Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to clarify our Future Watch rankings and grades.

Dude, you have been looking like an Idiot all FREAKING season, with these "expert" insights into the comparison between the two Ontario teams.
To the original point, it would take an enormous disaster for any team in the NE to finish behind the Sens. Don't stress it, you'll get another good pick.
- prock
The sens don't measure up with anyone. They'll be fifth barring a disaster of epic proportions by another team. They're the worst in the division at every position.
- prock
The Sens as a whole are a basement dwelling team that don't measure up to anyone in the division.
You're going to have to set your sites lower and look outside the division. Maybe Florida?
- prock
You've got to be kidding me. The Sens offense sucks. They have one line, and then a bunch of plugs. You want to talk about scoring drying up? Spezza is scoring not only WAY above what he's done for the past 3 years, but above his career average, which includes the years him, Alfie, and Heatley racked up ridiculous point totals. Michalek is scoring MILES above what you can reasonably expect from him. Alfie is going on 39. Colin Greening is scoring at a higher pace than he did in the AHL. Gonchar, 37, suddenly playing like he's in his prime again. Not a chance in hell Karlsson keeps scoring like has been.
And you think the LEAFS scoring will dry up?
The Sens scoring is more likely to dry up, and probably drop off more significantly than the Leafs..... And then, you're left with a team that is giving up the most goals in the NHL. By a wide margin.
Ottawa is going to be a basement team this year. It's pretty much a sure thing.
And even if it does.... With Reimer in net, the goals against is pretty consistent with what it was last year, to start the season. With him back in net, the Leafs will be able to compensate for a bit of a drop in goal scoring.
Besides, as much as the Leafs have some guys scoring in bunches right now, there are others that haven't completely gotten going yet.
They may not stay where they are. I fully expect them to slip a bit. But not to the basement. Where I expect the Sens to slip to.

They were last done in November 2011, even if they get re-done prior to the draft what exactly would have changed as no teams have added new talent, even if you want to revise the grades of prospects it shouldn't impact the overall Sens rankings as Silfverberg, Noeson and Zibanejad have all taken steps forward while Puempel had regressed due to another injury.
As for the he said she said drivel happening it matters not as they are just opinions and neither of you will change the others mind |

Are you kidding? What's changed? Are you seriously asking such a stupid question?
The top rated Sens prospect at the time of the ranking was Rundblad, for starters. I think Cowen was second. Zibanejad has not climbed in any rankings, in fact, players in his draft year have passed him (Couturier and Dougie Hamilton).
I don't even think it's a question that the Sens will drop in the rankings. My only question is how far.
As for the he said she said drivel happening it matters not as they are just opinions and neither of you will change the others mind - Nimm
Well, not exactly. It was his opinion that I'd look like an idiot, because I said the Sens would not be ranked second by the Hockey News, as the radio program he listened to claimed. I was correct, they weren't. That's not opinion, that's fact. I was right, he was wrong. So, him claiming that I'd look like an idiot, when I turn out to be right, makes him look like an idiot. |

Hamilton? Really? I grew up a Bruins fans and I have to say that Hamilton was garbage at the World juniors, so how exactly does he rise and Zibanejad who scored the goal medal winning goal and was a dominant presence at the WJC exactly fall?
Noeson's stock will rise dramatically as he led Plymouth in scoring and was much better than players regarded higher than he was such as Rackell and JT Miller..
Will the Sens drop, likely but it won't be out of the top 10, but I do think the Leafs will fall out of the top 10 as the only prospect on that list to make any progress was Gardiner... Kadri Colbourne have plateau'd and Biggs was a waste of a 1st rounder
