gonna drop a truthbomb

no movie that is actually worth anything gets diminished due to spoilers with the obvious exception of movies like thrillers etc that nearly entirely rely on twists and other such things in order to be watchable, and it could be argued that those aren't worth watching anyway unless you're 8 years old.

if I was told that everyone was going to get dusted at the end of Infinity War it would have big time diminished that movie. that first time wonderment/impression that a scene or twists has on you is a big time part of the experience

having that kind of stuff spoiled in any movie deteriorates that first impression experience and thus the lasting impact of that scene/movie on you.

you're not even honest with yourself if you disagree. you're just a sad (frank) trying way too hard to be pompous

yes, but because its stirs up emotions and brings back the experience. had that been spoiled to me beforehand I might rewatch it but I wouldn't care to have seen it repeatedly

i had harry potter spoiled to me before I saw whatever the one where Dumbledore dies was. took me a decade to watch those films as that whole moment felt mega lame and didn't have even half the impact it was meant to.

the best films in that franchise to me are the ones I didn't have spoiled in any way. i'd go back and watch Prisoner of Azkaban with that twist long before Half Blood Prince

the only movie i can think of that definitely blew after being spoiled before seeing it was the sixth sense and that's because it's a poop movie that entirely relied on a dumb gimmick
